Good Neighbor Awards Recognize Acts Of Kindness

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Neighborhood Services Division will hold the sixth annual Good Neighbor Awards ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. in Swope Park as part of the National Night Out Against Crime event. Mayor Sly James and Jackson County COMBAT Director Stacy Daniels-Young will present the awards to the recipients.

"We are a community of great people who are constantly helping one another in meaningful ways. The Good Neighbor Awards are a way for us to take a moment to say 'thank you'. Kansas City is a great place to call home, and it is made even better because of the selfless acts of these Good Neighbors," said Mayor Sly James.

Good Neighbor Awards recognize City residents from a variety of neighborhoods who have provided a substantial service to the community without compensation. "Good neighbors" must also demonstrate an ongoing spirit of compassion and helpfulness to his or her neighbors. The Good Neighbor Awards Program is the City's way of thanking the residents who are committed to preserving, maintaining and improving the quality of life in their neighborhoods and our community.

Good Neighbor Award recipients are chosen from nominations made by neighborhood associations, community groups and residents to the Neighborhood Services Division and the 311 Action Center. Nominations for good neighbors can be made year round to the Neighborhood Services Division at ncs@kcmo.org or fax 816-513-3201 or the 311 Action Center at actioncenter@kcmo.org or 816-513-1313.
