Check the details of a Kansas City early Saturday Morning homicide . . .
"On 5/19 at about 1:20 am, officers were in the area of Truman and McGee when they heard the sound of shots. The officers then moved to the location of the shots and located a victim in the street just south of Truman Road, on McGee. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The victim has not been positively identified, but is a man in his mid-20's. There is no suspect information at this time. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the TIPS Hotline."
Again . . . Unofficially, that's Kansas City's 43rd homicide so far this year.

Interesting.
ReplyDeleteNotice that there have been no Hispanic victims or suspects.
Since the Hispanic community generally faces the same socio-economic challenges as blacks (i.e. lower educational attainment and lower incomes), one really has to question the argument that what is needed to stop the violence in the black community are better schools and better jobs.
Yeah, Mexico is such a law abiding place. I mean, the 43 headless, mutilated, tortured people found along the border was an outlier.
DeleteJust what i want to see in kc.
Maybe what is needed is more self-control.
ReplyDeleteSeems that the homicide problem in the African-American community is not an external problem requiring external solutions (like more police presence). What is needed is a fundamental change in values.
ReplyDeleteThere is a sketchy half-way house with all kinds of shady characters not far from there at all.

Seems like Forte's new push in the ghetto is displacing them downtown. Great idea right before the all star game.
ReplyDeleteThat's all the Hot Spots do, 9:22. Displace resources from low crime areas to high crime areas and displace crime from high crime areas to previously low crime areas.
ReplyDeleteNorth Patrol, Shoal Creek, and South Patrol generally, and low crime areas of Central, Metro, and East Patrols, are being penalized for their low crime rates. They've been forced to give up many of the police resources they use to keep their crime rates low because certain communities in the urban core prefer a vigilante style of justice.
It's just that redeployment is an easy administrative exercise and the Hot Spot program is an easy sell to the media/public.
But it's a poor response to the problem.
Agreed 1035, pulling officers from other zones will eventually hurt the citizens and other officers in those zones through higher crime and increased workload and blackout response times. It looks good on paper and shows the media that Forte is acting like he's doing something to fight the crime but its not working.
ReplyDeleteThe true tax payers are suffering because of this redeployment.
DeleteI was listening to my radio shack scanner the other night and heard officers saying something about an area presence. I've never heard that before and was wondering if it had to do with the hot spot program? Most of them sounded like they were around Troost and Prospect and didn't sound like the officers that were on them were doing much. Maybe playing basketball or something.
ReplyDeleteIt is exactly what you heard. It's paper game. Officers are in that are and it looks good on paper. It's not doing shit. And the officers aren't to blame or be talked down to. They patrol guys and gals are working to their asses off. It's the bosses who are not doing shit and keep taking from the patrol. The patrol has their hands tied. They can't do shit cause everyone they do they in trouble by sgt and worthless never been a real cop capt. It's a joke. I know a couple officers and listen to the scanner and it's sad to hear the stories or radio. I heard last nite officers had a drunk driver driving all crazy almost hitting cars and when they tried to stop it a sgt got on and said disregard. They can't do their jobs people. Their leader are chicken shits.
DeleteThere is no "homicide problem" in the black community. It's a fucking blessing and humans should do all they can to make it continue. Maybe they'll exterminate themselves??
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Tony: Thanks for posting. Well, we are up to 43 homicides for 2012--compared to 31 at this time in 2011. Crime surge of the past twelve months is continuing. Anyone foolish enough to think that this is due to national problems like lack of gun control, the recession, the heartbreak of psoriasis should note that two former "Murder Capitals of America" (Wash/DC and NYC) are on the verge of having the lowest number of homicides since the 1950's. Time for city's political class to "wake up and smell the coffee." Take care. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans
ReplyDeleteagreed. this problem needs a better solution and not just press conferences.
ReplyDeleteAnd prayer vigils.
DeleteHow about that "Hot-Spot" Crime photo, with all the cops playing basketball and leaning up against the patrol cars. KCPD FAIL.
ReplyDeletetHE kANSAS sHITTY pOLICE dEPARTMENT.
ReplyDeleteWell let's not let the fact this is a constant problem in hip hop clubs deceive us. This has nothing to do with the people, hurry let's find other people to blame before they start catching on to who and what the real problems are
ReplyDeleteSo if Chris at 11:29 can monitor the police bands for the area presence on his radio shack scanner, why can't the murderous gangster thugs?
ReplyDeleteKansas City is a shit-hole.
