TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! NEWSLETTER SUPPORTING THE RECALL OF KANSAS CITY COUNCILMAN JERMAINE REED CIRCULATES THROUGH THE 3RD DISTRICT!!!

The recall of Councilman Jermaine Reed seems to be off to a strong start.

Behind the scenes, there's a lot less opposition to the move than most people had anticipated.

Organizers now have less than 30 days to get 1,633 signatures from registered voters in this east side community. However, in this recall fight, the signatures might not be as important as any legal moves that arise during this process. As of now, there's little support or interest in Councilman Reed from the legal community . . . Getting the petition thrown out in court might not be as easy as local political denizens had imagined.

Soooooo . . .

LOOK CLOSELY AT A NEWSLETTER CIRCULATING IN KANSAS CITY'S 3RD DISTRICT REGARDING THE RECALL OF COUNCILMAN JERMAINE REEED!!!

Sorry the print is so small but I'll summarize . . .

This newsletter goes after Councilman Reed for his work in the Green Zone.

The Newsletter contradicts recent talk about cooperation for the new East Patrol Site . . . Which Councilman Reed supports.

And of course, the newsletter lists a lot of reasons to sign the recall petition.

Again, this is the price that local politicos might start paying for so many Kansas City voters feeling disengaged from the political process. Recent City Hall moves to subvert voters and ignore public outcry only seem to add to frustration from grassroots activists and neighborhood leaders. Councilman Jermaine Reed is still at the outset of his career and this recall effort might offer a valuable lesson: At the end of the day local voters remain the final voice for politicos and when they organize they're every bit as powerful as the special interests who typically dominate City Hall.

DEVELOPING . . .

  1. I'm not sure he can pull this one out like Saundra did.

  2. Won't meet legal test for recall

  3. And while energy, time, and effort are spent on ego fights like this, the city already has 42 murders this year, mostly on the east side.
Why don't these folks work on something important like that?

  4. @Why don't these folks work on something important like that.

Most commenters on this site are surface dwellers; incapable of making the connection but I won't do your thinking for you. As you were...

  5. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!!!

Go Northeast Residents, you can do it, keep up the good fight, now is a time all over the country when citizens are beginning to hold politicians feet to the fire,

RECALL REED! WE WILL GET THOSE SIGNATURES!

    Dissatisfied Taxpayer.

  6. Wasted time!

  7. Who is the replacment if reed is out?

  8. Michael from California.

  9. Funny, the newsletter did not take Reed to task for diverting the PIAC funds to the Green Impact Zone, but it was Reed's doing, after he failed to get funds from other City sources. He should be held accountable for using critical PIAC dollars to shove good money after bad for Cleaver's pet project.

It doesn't matter how many trips the City pays for so you can attend the Congressional Black Caucus meetings in DC, Mr. Reed. You are not in Congress, will likely never be, and there is work to be done here in the 3rd district. Stay home and do some work!

  10. The 3rd District is anti-homophile . . .

  11. Jermaine can probably survive this political challenge if he gets out there and talks to people.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Too late... the ink from the sigs is already drying. Besides, what is he going to say? "I didn't vote to kick people out of their homes. I didn't vote to take needed PIAC resources out of other areas of the City for my mentor, Cleaver. I was doing the people's business." Yeah, right. Guilty as charged. Recall Reed, baby!

  13. Just another black man in it for him Cleaver taught him well.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Someone on the east side being called to account for acting in his own self-interest and that of his friends? The list is awfully long and Reed certainly isn't anywhere near the top of it.
More petty fighting over nothing while the place falls apart all around.
And WHO is the replacement candidate? There are alot of duds like Sharon Sanders Brooks to choose from.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Once the signatures are validated, then candidates can come forward. Anyone is better than Reed.

    ReplyDelete
  16. If 'bishop'Tendel and Clinton Adams want him out, he must have some very good qualities. Anyone those two thiefs are attacking and trying to oust, must not be paying them a cut.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Political folks have lost the real focus of neighborhoods. Not only do they NOT know what people who live in the community want or need, they justify projects like this claiming that jobs will be created. Who is going to ultimately work in the building after it is constructed? They don't look like the people that live in that community and that is a big problem.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 12:11, then tell the people "who look like the community" to get off their lazy fat asses and vote for a change. Quit bitching about your representation (although it does suck and is substandard) and recruit and support some decent candidates. Quit voting in the likes of Reed, Curls, Brooks, Weaver, etc. Throw Terry Riley and Michael Brooks in that group of losers as well.
