TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! MISSOURI STATE REP. CANDIDATE CHRIS MORENO CALLED OUT FOR "DIRTY TRICKS" BY GRANDVIEW ALDERMAN JOE RUNIONS!!!

Once again, a Kansas City area political denizen familiar to TKC readers is embroiled in a bit of controversy.

I remember that I didn't want to follow this race . . . However . . . .

THIS IS A MAJOR MISSOURI POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT RELATED TO THE INTERNETS . . . AND THIS HOT MESS GIVES US A LOOK AT KANSAS CITY CAMPAIGNING IN THE DIGITAL AGE!!!

The sitch: In the following presser, Grandview Alderman Joe Runions is accusing the Chris Moreno campaign of a "dirty campaign trick" that involves buying a domain name that might be associated with Runions campaign. It's legal but the Democratic old timer doesn't like it.

Also and probably more importantly, we're hearing that this might be an ethics violation because there's no disclosure on it.

Take a look at the latest, breaking, presser making its way all over the Show-Me State . . . Seen first here on TKC:

Dirty Tricks in Race for State Representative

Grandview, MO.....Grandview Alderman Joe Runions, candidate for State Representative in Missouri's new 37th District, announced today that the domain name he planned to use in his campaign was hijacked by his opponent yesterday (Sunday, May 6), and that a bogus website now appears at that address.

Registered through GoDaddy.com, records show that the domain name, Runions4StateRep, was purchased by Blue Key Strategies, P.O. Box 2574, Lees Summit, MO on May 6, 2012. The Blue Key Strategies website shows the founding partners of this political consulting/lobbying firm as Chris Moreno and his brother, Nicholas Moreno. Chris Moreno is one of three candidates filed in the Democratic Primary election in the race for State Representative in the 37th District.

Runions said, "It is pretty sad that my opponent would start his campaign for this important seat in our state government with a dirty campaign trick. While it may simply be a reflection of his youth and inexperience, voters don't appreciate this kind of campaigning. I don't appreciate it either. What he did is legal, but totally unethical. What he says on this website is not only false, it is distasteful and a clear reflection of his character."

"I would encourage Mr. Moreno to take down this website immediately, and turn ownership of it over to our campaign. He knows we intended to use this domain name and the only way to correct the error of his ways is to man-up to the fact that he was caught in the act of a poorly planned dirty trick," Runions, said.

Runions' official campaign website has been changed to Runions4TheHouse.com.

The Democratic Primary election for State Representative is Tuesday, August 7.

  1. Interesting. Not a great move.

  2. Not a great consultant or smart net guy if that kind of mistake is made. Those who know Moreno are not surprised. This is why he keeps jobs for no more than 6 months

    ReplyDelete
  3. Shame, shame, shameful, I won't vote for anyone engaging in dirty politics.

    ReplyDelete
  4. what a jerk, but what do you expect from a stupid guy? Maybe this will slow down his racist postings on this blog.

    ReplyDelete
  5. "Planning to use"? Was this guy Runions was passing out material promoting a website without actually buying the domain? That's hilarious!!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I don't think Moreno will win.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Just checked out the site. Everything on there seems to be.cited. I'm confused on what is false? I say this is a case of a candidate dropping the ball and crying wolf.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Fact: Runions printed lit without purchasing the domain name.

    Fact: That's fucking stupid.

Fact: Stupid is, as stupid does.

Fact: When you do stupid things, you deserve the blowback for your actions.

Opinion: I find this move, hilarious.

  9. What the!? "We intended to use this domain"?

What does that mean? Did Runions pass out material leading people to a domain he didn't own? Seriously, has anyone ever heard of a candidate doing that? Who is running that guy's campaign?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Unethical? That's like saying someone can't put a yard sign in a yard because you intended to do it! Get real Runions. That was an elementary mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Why would Moreno think he would have anything to contribute as a state rep in the first place?
Just another guy looking for a self-important nothing job with a paycheck.
What color will his "balloons" be?
    Join the club!

  12. Sad that politics attracts this type of people. Our elected leaders should be the best among us, but more often than not, the opposite is true. This is pathetic, but who in the hell is surprised?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Who makes a mistake like not buying a domain before you promote it? Did this guy put the domain on his material? Even worse.

    ReplyDelete
  14. "anything to contribute" , "the best among us"

I dunno about the rest of ya but I'm tired of elected officials laying claim to a territory. I like options. The people own their district and any American has the right to run so that the people can vote accordingly. Remember when that was a Democratic belief?

Runions has done diddly in our district and everyone here knows it. Moreno obviously felt he can do better, so he stepped up and ran. Good for him.

The guy didn't buy a domain and now someone is using it to inform voters. I looked at it and everything was sourced.

Seems to me the people are the winners in this one.

  15. He also makes fake Facebook accounts.

  16. Chuck Midtown5/7/12, 7:30 PM

Remember when Tony's Kansas City would have had a laugh of a time at a candidate who promotes a website he/she didn't own? If this were Crystal, Cindy, Theresa, Jan or Beth some time ago, I am sure he would have most certainly done so; and I would have been laughing with him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. And fake twitter accounts.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Something is fishy about this race.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Right on Chuck. Looks like ole Tony is giving in to political pressure. Don't fold Tony.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ive seen worse. This guy Runions is crying wolf. He dropped the ball and got caught.

    ReplyDelete
  21. If runions is complaining about this he won't last a session in jefferson city. We need tough democrat representatives who aren't afraid to fight. It would be a mistake to send a candidate with sensitivity issues to Jeff city. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen because you will never make it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Tony, Chuck is spot on. This article is hogwash. Sounds like you're giving into pressure.

Why let this guy's friends push you around? A couple of years ago you would have been making fun of this Runions guy til the cows came home; and he would have deserved it.

Name a campaign in the last 10 years that has made a mistake like that? I have never heard of anyone promoting a website they don't own and then say "we intended to buy it".

    ReplyDelete
  23. Moreno's alter egos on Facebook are the real dirty "tricks."

    ReplyDelete
  24. What a CLOWN SHOW. Moreno should be in government at some level. He'd fit in quite well. Just another Bozo.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anyone can register a website under anyone's name. Wouldn't surprise me if it was Runions' own consultant.

    ReplyDelete
  26. If Runions has a consultant and he forgot to buy a domain he's overpaid. I'd a done fired that sob. I aint never seen that happen before.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Runioun's winning message?

    THE KID'S A CHEAT.

Why is it that every campaign Moreno is involved in turns ugly early and often?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Let's talk more about Morenos alter egos on Facebook. He uses one fictitious name, Lisa Brothers, according to an Internet search.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Tony I just the website and noticed all is cited. Can Runions explain how cited facts are false? It seems like he is upset because his record is out there now.

Daddy, please get a real job with a pay check because Mommy should not have to support us alone.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I didn't see anything false about the website.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I can't believe this Runions promoted a website he didn't own and the best he came up with was "we intended to buy it". Most campaigns and businesses actually buy a domain before spending money on material promoting it. Just simple common sense.

  33. County party observer5/7/12, 9:35 PM

Joe runions is a nice old man and no one he knows or associates with are reading Tonys or making posts. This whole conversation here is a construct of moreno's obsession with this blog, and every tonys reader knows im telling the truth. The thing is Moreno might win this race, he didn't have to stoop to this level of campaigning by any means necessary, its the equivalent of rabbit punching in boxing, can you get away with it, yeah, but in the end its a bull shit way to fight. It makes moreno look shady at best which will lock down any new donors inside the party. He should really release the domain name before Joe starts asking his friends to make this an issue with the state party chairman mike sanders. Chris, do the right thing before this lack of judgment turns into a campaign ending blunder. Even if you win, this will turn neutral people against you. I know your not a bad person, but this is not the way democrats treat each other.

    ReplyDelete
  34. If Moreno focused on campaigning and forgot about cloak and dagger shit, he would win. That said, I think he will lose.

    ReplyDelete
  35. This kind of thing happens in every campaign Moreno becomes involved in.

    ReplyDelete
  36. He's as bad as Diana kander.

  37. Representative Moreno Sounds Natural5/7/12, 9:56 PM

Most of the anti-Moreno comments on here come from a dried-up, closeted lesbian, cunt named Dorothy Kennedy. She is a crazy old bitch who has watched her life fade away before her eyes. She lives on this blog because she has no life in reality.

Chris and Nick just cut it out.

  40. 9:56 Chris Moreno loves Dorothy Kennedy but good try and attacking one of the best Democrats in Jackson County.

    LOVE YOU DOROTHY!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Chris Moreno is a lying sack of shit who will post something like that and the post something different for "deniability." Or was it "Lisa."

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, brother!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Joe Runions is too old to do the job in the fast paced world of Jeff City and we all know it. Moreno wins! Get on board now or cry later.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I mean, oh Brothers!!

  45. Have another drink Pat!

  46. Not Pat Gray5/7/12, 10:39 PM

I htink Chris Morneo is a really bad guy.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Honestly Tony this is a petty attempt by this Runions dude to avoid the fact he made an airhead mistake. I don't see anything unethical or wrong on this site.

    ReplyDelete
  48. And his doppelgänger Lisa Brothers.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Moreno is one fat fuck

    ReplyDelete
  50. This isn't his first dirty trick. He is a punk. Especially doing this to someone in his own party.

    ReplyDelete
  51. The people on here attacking Chris Moreno and Dorothy Kennedy are the same wannabe democrats who were knifing Moreno and other democrats two years ago. The guy should not have promoted a webaite he didn't own and now he is just throwing a fit.

    ReplyDelete
  52. "Dirty Tricks". Who still says that? That's concerning.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Chris Moreno is a lazy, slovenly pig. The anti-Runnions comments are all from him. He should be out delivering pizzas for extra cash to support his kids, so his ex-wife doesn't have to do it all herself. Just like the TV show, "Everybody Hates Chris".

    ReplyDelete
  54. Tony, when was Runions " intending" to by the website?

Planning/Designing his material which apparently had the website on it had to take a few days. The printing had to take another couple of days. And then how many days has this guy been walking around passing out material promoting the website? We are talking at least 1 or 2 weeks!

Are you kidding me? Cry me a river buddy. Runions was not "intending" to buy anything. That guy's campaign team screwed him over something fierce.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yep looks like that website has cited sources for all claims. That would make everything on there pretty darn factual. Sucks to be the dude who forgot to buy the domain. Pretty dang funny if ya ask me.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Did Joe's consultant not get Joe's telegraph about a futuristic idea called buying a domain?

    ReplyDelete
  57. The myspace page "morenosucksdick" is already taken but it appears the domain "morenosuckscock" is available.

  58. The Drunk cannot Save Runions5/8/12, 6:29 AM

I wonder whether Pat Gray is out of jail yet, you know they arrested twelve drunk drivers on the southside of Waldo, and you gotta figure Pat was one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Read the website and all sources seem to be cited. Costly error by Runions campaign team. Can't change the facts boys.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I am not following the Lisa Brothers stuff?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Moreno sucks.
