KANSAS CITY ACTIVIST TRACY WARD CONTRADICTS A RECENT RED LIGHT CAMERA REPORT, PROVIDES SOME SUPPORTING DATA AND NOTES A LACK OF TRANSPARENCY!!!

Thought you might be interested in the newest media propaganda on red light cameras, with some facts posted at the end.

"The report consisted of a narrative but NO DATA TABLE. Camera-generated citations and wrecks caused by red-light running have both declined, according to the report."

ATS AND KCPD NEED TO PROVE THEIR FACTS!!! The study was only given in the police commissioners packet, none to the public. Where are the claiming accidents have gone down? Inside the box? If that's their claim, it is quite possibly true, but they leave out accidents outside the box including rear end collisions (which HAVE increased!). An ordinance has already been written for NEW cameras.

Dont' forget who wrote the study... "The final report released Tuesday was written by police with help from American Traffic Solutions, the private company that has a $1.6 million annual contract with the city to run the camera program." FOXES ARE WATCHING THE CHICKEN COOP IN KCMO and getting away with it.

It shows that accidents INCREASED at 11 of 17 intersections. That's not creating safer intersections. Expand the yellow light times and the accidents will decrease substantially.

I am also concerned by the fact that it sounds like Pat McInerney is admitting that they privately met with KCPD who gave them a presentation.

"Pat McInerney, a board member whose term as president expired Tuesday, said the final report was included in board members’ packets but not listed on the agenda because board members already had heard a presentation from police about it."

I am much more concerned by the fact that it sounds like Pat is admitting that they privately met with KCPD who gave them a presentation. If that is the case, and they are referring to something other than January meeting, it is a Open Meetings Violation. A quorum of a body cannot get together and discuss business before the body in anything other than a posted, open meeting. If there were "errors" that needed to be fixed, you would think another briefing would be given detailing those, why they were wrong, and how they were corrected.

Plus, the report was only given to the commissioners, I am pretty sure that it needs to be posted somewhere physically along with the agenda for the public, or it is a violation also.
