Of course they reduce mowing.
ReplyDeleteThis is EXACTLY the problem with government today.
In hard times, they don't eliminate projects that expand capacity or the system ( and, ironically, create even more unmaintainable right-of-way).
Instead, they reduce the level of services to those areas that are already stuck with their infrastructure, thus furthering the blighting influence and other adverse effects highways have in the communities where they are located.
MoDOT sucks.
Get those chain gangs working again. Get them some weed whips and put all those lazy assholes in jail to work.
ReplyDeleteIf it costs the taxpayer to feed them then lets get something for our money. Plus if they had to work their butts off maybe they would reform better as well as have less energy to riot and fight while in jail.
They can probably get some of it mowed for free, if they let the folks take it for hay. Using inmate labor can be problematic and may require an increase in MDOC staff and equipment that would offset any benefit. And if one of those asshats takes off, everyone's pissed.
ReplyDeleteThe grass ain't worth a shit for hay. As a matter of fact MODOT has introduced several harmful species of plants to MO, such as 'fireweed', ostensibly to reduce corrosion of the median.
ReplyDeleteAnybody who bales that trash is going to have sick cattle/horses and they will carry the seed straight back onto their own property.
Her is an idea, since the fire fighters sit around most of the day - give them a mower and THEY can mow the ditches and earn their money - its time to start getting aware of wasted resources and how to fix it.
