From The KC Biz Journal reports on the fate of our favorite old and busted shopping mall in the Northland: "A Clay County Circuit Court judge is expected to rule on a property dispute. Judge Elizabeth Davis heard arguments Monday from Kansas City's Planned Industrial Expansion Authority and ZR Metro, the owner of the Dillard’s site at Metro North that was to be condemned. It is a shame that the city got away with destroying this great mall in order to rip off it's own citizens via Zona Rosa. ...another genius city project.
ReplyDeleteMD property management is as much to blame for the downfall of Metro North as anyone. Their mismanagement of the complex caused all their tenants to flee to Zona Rosa the instant there was a viable alternative. I can't feel much simpathy for them if they lose. Regardless, I hope the project moves forward so the area can return to being a thriving part of the community as it once was.
ReplyDeleteWell MD property management has very shacky past and a merger few years back made it even more a snake in the grass.
ReplyDeleteThe head of what was the KC division of Dial Realty thats based in Omaha joined MD after Dial closed up shop and shut down KC operations based on things the person in charge was doing and wasn't in the best interest of the company.
Do a little back ground on MD and you will see what I mean.
The use of eminent domain to take over a piece of property is developers/crooks way of stealing a piece of ground from the owner.
Isn't there a Dillards down the road at Zona?
ReplyDeletezr metro who operates zona rosa is only hanging on to the old dillards site to prevent any new shopping area from being developed that would compete with zona.
