BREAKING!!! MISSOURI POLITICOS WERE ALL TALK!!! SCHOOL BOARD SURVIVES FOR NOW!!! AIRICK L. WEST STAYS WINNING!!!

So . . . . Show-Me State legislators talked a good game but did NOTHING when it came to reforming Kansas City Public Schools.

Check it:

KCTV5: The Kansas City School Board has additional time to boost academic achievement after the Missouri General Assembly failed to take action on a state takeover bill.

Mayor Sly lost a lot of political capital on this deal . . .

Residents continue to lament unaccredited schools and mostly see the District as FAILED . . .

TKC beat The Star with a much better endorsement and support of a new School Board member during this period of turmoil.

Credit where it's due . . .

LIKE IT OR NOT KCPS DIRECTOR-AT-LARGE AIRICK WEST STAYS WINNING IN THIS MISSOURI SHOWDOWN OVER KANSAS CITY SCHOLARS!!!

And after all is said and done, as usual, nothing really changes in Kansas City.

  1. I'm sure he's a nice guy but having someone who barely made it through high school and left college before he got a degree isn't exactly a confidence builder,

  3. This is not bad. The current board is not the problem. If they state were going to take over, they should have done it about 5 years ago when the board was really bad.

Covenington came in and did his hatchet job on finances, so now the district is at least saved from bankruptcy. Steve Green is a good guy with little ego and will plod along improving the district.

The current board has agreed to sell two vacant buildings to charter schools. Other board called charters "competitors" and didn't seem to care about education.

This is not a bad thing.

  5. Now if they can just get rid of Webster, avoid having the urban Summit gang meddle in the district's affairs, and keep working on rationalizing the finances of the operation, at least there might be a chance.
But there have been so many snouts pulled out of the trough and the money is just so inviting that these deadbeats will be beating on the doors like a bunch of zombies.

  6. Agree, Webster and his crew/crue/krue need to be run out of the district. He's got the cushiest place at the trough. His ACE school is a failure. So glad Green has the balls to close it and toss out the associated grifters.

  7. Webster must go, he's just using the district. How about he take his money and get his own building to open a school. The district doesn't owe him or the students of ACE anything.

  8. The Republican legislature is so incompetent it makes me want to vote for the Democrats. They had a slam-dunk bill to allow the state to take over the district and they failed to pass it. They crafted a very poorly written piece of legislation to try to do away with teacher tenure and failed to bully everyone into voting for it. What in the hell were they thinking?

  9. REELECT YVONNE WILSON!!!

  10. 9:45, Good idea but Ajamu Webster doesn't have any money. He owes around $30k in delinquent property taxes. Which hurts the schools. So why is this grifter allowed to be president of a school when he can't pay the taxes that fund the schools?

  11. While kids continue to graduate without the ability to read and write, its nice to know that we're not going from bad to worse.
