TKC TIPSTERS just told us: KCPD shot and killed a suspect off of Independence Avenue and Brooklyn this afternoon . . .
We'll have more details soon . . .
KSHB has the first report . . .
Just after 4 p.m., emergency responders were called to 522 Park, one block east of Brooklyn, after police reportedly shot a man who had fired at police first. No officers have reported injuries.
Fox4 quickly files their report with a lot of details:
Kansas City Police are on the scene of an officer involved shooting that turned deadly. The shooting happened on Saturday afternoon near Independence Avenue & Brooklyn around 4:15 p.m.
"Officers were called to the area to investigate suspicious prostitution related activity. Police say the man shot at two police officers. At least one officer returned fire which resulted in the suspect’s death."
Seriously wondering if things have become so stupid on Kansas City streets that some d-bag would shoot at a cop and expect to be around long enough to talk about it.

Good work boys
ReplyDeleteWhat if that was your son .killin is no the ans. U should no god.
DeleteEnglish please. I don spuk retard.
DeleteI wouldn't raise my child to be running with prostitutes and to shoot at the police. Are the supposed to go all matrix style, dodge bullets, stop time, and tackle the SOB? This d-bag is where he belongs.
DeleteKilla City. The fact that this guy thought he could get away with firing at officers just goes to show how stupid some of these criminals are. Probably went to KCMO schools. Great work to the officers
ReplyDeleteOutstanding
ReplyDeleteGuy should have cut his losses early. Even if he was a pimp or involved in prostitution activity, its Jackson County and would have little to no punishment. Regardless, I like the way this one turned out.
ReplyDeleteOnly one thats god so becareful what u say
DeleteShut up with your god comment.
DeleteHa, for being ranked #1 in local news, KMBC 9 sure is behind on their reporting. Nothing on their site or 5 pm news. Star isn't reporting anything either which is expected because reporting crime has an adverse effect on the mayor and city council
ReplyDeleteGood shootin' boys. I'm sure the local media will report in a few days some sob story about how the suspect was a good man and a father of probably 10 kids from 5 women, and on and on.....
ReplyDeleteLeave it to the KC Star to get the story completely wrong.
ReplyDelete"A Kansas City police officer shot and killed a man wielding a gun near Fifth Street and Park Avenue this afternoon, police said.
A dispatcher said officers reported to a disturbance in the area and were approached by a man wielding a gun."
It's not hard to look at local news sites to get the story right. No wonder no one reads the star anymore.
Good work KCPD
One less idiot wasting good air.
ReplyDeleteThe KC Star is pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the officers are okay. Stay safe out there boys. As much as people complain about the KCPD here on TKC it's a sobering reminder of what they actually do and go through. God bless the boys in blue.
ReplyDeleteAgreed 110% 5:35. Good work.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised those ignorant posters who go around posting "N-word this and that" haven't been on here yet. Like clockwork though they will be at some point. Shameful.
ReplyDeleteThat is one we don't have to rehab.
ReplyDeleteWhere was Kyle James?
ReplyDeleteKJ was on a bender....bender...bender
ReplyDeleteLol nice
DeleteAnyone else think it's ironic that the suspect was killed in the parking lot of a funeral home? Great work officers.
ReplyDeleteDamn good shooting guys
ReplyDeleteJust goes to show that nothing is routine.
ReplyDeleteWas it Glazer?
ReplyDeleteAnd people argue that prostitution is a victimless crime...
ReplyDeleteHey 5:40, how about a good "word" for you? ASSHOLE!
ReplyDeleteThat's what happens when you shoot at the police. Good work.
ReplyDeleteKinda like a self cleaning oven.
ReplyDeleteRotflmao!!!
ReplyDeleteI heard it was in a fire station parking lot (same thing as a funeral home in this city - aka response times), a gay man pissed that his lover FF was cheating on him...anyway good job KCPD if they have a gun aimed at you then you gotta takem out!! Should a took out the FF that was wielding a gun last fall at the station, oh wait that wasn't KCPD'S fault because that whole deal never went through 911 and was swept under the rug.
ReplyDeleteA 22yo male in a car with 3 females, just off Independence Ave (NEKCMO...known for prostitution), decides to run from vehicle when approached by police. Fires upon officers and they return fire, killing him.
ReplyDeleteDefense Attorney: on behalf of the victim's family I'll be suing the City of KCMO for violation of his civil rights and unlawful death resulting from an overly aggressive police department.
Result: KCMO actually pays a sizeable settlement.......now, as we were saying "KCMO is the dairy cow which keeps on giving, and there's a long line of milkers waiting their turn."
I'm sure the suspect was an Honor Roll Student & a Minister too.
ReplyDeleteSuicide by cop. I feel bad for the officer who will live with this the rest of his life.
ReplyDeleteThank God for KCPD.
Suicide by cop? I think its more like Darwinism and stupidity. People along the Avenue don't think most of the time, they just do.
ReplyDelete8:06, way to ruin a good post. I'm a cop in this city and back the FD 100%. There are a lot of great firemen and cops out there and then are very little shitty firemen and cops. Stop hating on FD just because youcouldntpass the test together hired.
ReplyDeleteU know the kid was wrong and obviously very stupid, everyone is on here giving high fives like the fact that he lost his life does not matter and the fact that some mother is hurting right now! Someone somewhere loved him. The police did what they had to do and I'm sure they are not happy about it or congratulating one another! It's pathetic the way some people think life is meaningless for certain people! Whether he was rite or wrong, which he was obviously very wrong, its still very sad that he lost his life and and someone lost a son, a brother, a father, a friend... Not a joyous occasion!!
ReplyDeleteU read your bible r your grandmother took u (god is)
DeleteWhat the fuck, over?
DeleteU know the kid was wrong and obviously very stupid, everyone is on here giving high fives like the fact that he lost his life does not matter and the fact that some mother is hurting right now! ReplyDeleteKristie I agree with you 100% about somewhere out there a family is hurting. This was a human being who made a very very fatal error. The police don't go around and high five after such an event. This is a homicide and will be treated as such. Don't forget about the officer's who had to make that split second decision. This will weigh on their minds for the rest of the lives. I for one, as a citizen of Kansas City am thankful that we have men and women in blue who are willing to chase down criminals with total disregard for their own safety. God bless the KCPD.
ReplyDeleteI'll say this as nice as I can Kristie402 but you are naive as can be. Someone who will shoot at cops will shoot at anybody. That anybody could be you had you ran across this guy. I'll bet you any amount of money he had zero relationship with his father and probably has fathered kids himself that he has zero relationship with. Can pretty much guarantee he was at some stage in the social system whether it be on parole and/or welfare. It is not sad he is gone. It is sad he and so many others just like him waste their lives causing death and destruction around them but as for him personally, fuck him. Be glad it wasn't you or a loved one that he shot. Good job KCPD.
ReplyDeleteI am in no way naive, I come from the streets and know 1st hand what people are capable of, I'm not defending him in anyway! I do believe the police did the right thing, but regardless when a life is lost its a tragedy know matter how u spin it. I can guarantee those police officers involved are grieving and in no way celebrating
DeleteKristie 402. Coming "from the streets" and being naieve is the same thing. You may not be naieve to dope, guns, and death, but you show little signs of common sense.
Delete9:19 are you a cop at the mall? One that was rented? because I know and am friends with many police officers in KCMO,and have been for many years, I have family on the force. I highly doubt you are actually a KCPD officer and am more than sure you are a KCFD moron.
ReplyDeleteWhen KC fire let the public down in the 80's for their self interest (by going on strike), (that self interest is still live and well today) and the police had to fight fires that the FF's were setting and then sabotaging the fire trucks in a effort to thwort the protection of the public and the public's property in order to make their point, its no wonder the mayor at the time instilled a order to shoot to kill anyone that tampered with a fire truck while on a fire.
So as far as your post goes most cops do their job and dont ever demand the public glory the FF's in this city do!! so in short if you truly are a kcpd cop you are a moron , ass kisser and you must not have been able to pass the monkey test to be a hero on KCFD!!! Speaking of KCFD how about those great response times?
Not trying to take the validity of your post away, BUT....there are a lot of people on the PD and FD that are trying to patch things up between the two organizations. Since the city has been acting the way it has it's actually unionized the two entities. But I agree there are still a lot of guys around from the old days that still hold a grudge.
DeleteI think I know what "suicide by cop" means, and I've heard police use the term before. When people are wanting to die and can't pull their own trigger, or they get busted and can't face the music, the surest way out of their predicament is to point a gun at a cop. You will be shot and most likely you will die.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the KCPD who was doing his job and did everything he was supposed to do. This shooting will be treated as a homicide by investigators. The cop who was doing his job has now taken a life. No matter how justified a shooting is, it's still a big weight to carry.
The KCPD isn't a bunch of Dirty Harry types who get to kill bad guys with their guns and remain seemingly unaffected. This isn't the movies.
Kristie402, I'm sure you are correct when you say the police are not celebrating, but I respectfully disagree with your statement that "regardless when a life is lost it's a tragedy". I do not think their is anything tragic about an idiot who shoots at a cop. The only tragedy is what that idiot put the cop through.
I'm not wanting to play arm chair quarterback but the suspect was running away from the police and shooting at them. Usually if someone wants to punch their ticket by suicide by cop they don't usually, and I stress usually, shoot at the cops. They will simply raise they gun towards them and let the police do the rest of the work.
Delete11:45, gotta disagree with you. People in this category aren't the smartest. They'll point or point and shoot. Both get them to the same place.
ReplyDeleteThe criminal was a black man. When do the excuses begin? Where are the east side leaders?
Where are modest miles and the self- anointed bishop felon tindall? And what the fuck is modest about this grifter Miles? Ooooh mah holy Whore.
ReplyDeleteLol, I still can't believe Mayor Sly and the city council say KCPD officers and the people who plow snow are the same city employee...especially with this kind of thing going on. I don't see the comparison...sorry.
ReplyDelete4:51- Have you ever seen KC drivers? Ever seen them in the snow?
ReplyDeleteIf so, then perhaps you'd like to take this opportunity to compare KC cops to a different class of city employee. Like maybe Codes inspectors.
Awww yes, and if only the Soap and Soad Initiative (what happened to that? Oh yeh, another dropped ball... making it fair for the ho's lol) had passed some would say this wouldn't have happened. Lot's of if only's here. The matter is they don't matter. KCPD did it's job this time. End of conversation. Kids, not raised right since DFS decided you can't discipline them.
ReplyDeleteOops typo... Soap and Soda that was a joke anyway.
ReplyDelete@5:28, yes...I seee KC drivers all the time. EVERY job is necessary...otherwise it would not exist. But what risk do snow plow drivers take when they drive the city streets in their heated 5 ton trucks?
ReplyDeleteCheck your facts ass wipe. More public works, water, and parks employee are killed in the line of duty then fire and police.
DeleteYou are a stupid mother fucker. Arrested and when water or park people go to work its not called the line of duty.
DeleteYea, everyone knows those water pipes and park trees are looking for revenge. Been a while since I've seen a tree run, fight or shoot a gun. Speaking of facts, lets see yours. I have a feeling your just talking out your ass. Give us all a link/links to where we can see these parks and rec death statistics.
ReplyDeleteHeres a little info, crazy how much comes up when you do a simple google search.
ReplyDeletehttp://articles.cnn.com/2011-12-12/us/us_law-enforcement-deaths-2011_1_death-toll-police-officer-craig-floyd?_s=PM:US
Have you ever even dealt with KCMO cops? They are always pretty respectable. the fire fighters, however; are a bunch of tatted out narciscists, that won't even say hi to you. They are about my age, 28. I love my KCPD
ReplyDeleteLets see here, per the article there were already 166 officer deaths at the time they published it. How many water department employees died last year douche bag?
ReplyDeleteI count 256 Police officer/Fire Fighter deaths in 2011. Can't really find anything on water dept, parks dept deaths...interesting to see if this guy comes up with anything(Link wise) to back his argument.
ReplyDeleteDear Ms. Kristie: Many thanks for your thoughtful and Christian comment on this painful issue. I work around cops and soldiers for a living, I know lots of officers and soldiers who have had to kill people as part of their job, and you are right--it is not a joyous occasion for them. And, no cops who have to do this do not appreciate people who congratulate them with such sick comments as "thanks for improving the gene pool." The KCPD has lots of great officers who do their jobs under very difficult conditions, we should all be grateful for their service. Take care, Ms. Kristie, you are a breath of fresh air. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad to know that there are people out there who still have a heart. And the common sense to realise that in no way is this an event to celebrate! This child's life is lost and that is a terrible tragedy for all parties involved.
DeleteExcept when this child has been picked up for a prior homicide, an armed robbery, and two prior weapons offenses.
DeleteAnd I'm sorry I just posted the above listed and am not celebrating any loss of life. However I am saying that by all my research on the individual involved in this offense he appears to be an extremely violent individual with no hope for reform.
DeleteAnd ur rite some ppl just can't be reformed and for whatever reason their life ended up the way it did, I still find it sad, the fact tht he obviously never had a chance at a decent life is sad.
DeleteAll's well that ends well.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, I guess he is having trouble finding his "facts" to support his "being a water dept is more dangerous " argument.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I say hey man nice shot
ReplyDeleteWas it officer lynch??
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it was lynch. Does anybody know the name of the two officers???
ReplyDelete
