Even better . . .
TAKE AN EXCLUSIVE AND FIRST LOOK AT THE LAWSUIT RIGHT HERE ON TKC!!! JUST CLICK THIS LINK, BABY!!!
We've noted recently that Mayor Sly seemed to bringing politics to The Police Board . . . In this instance it's clear that his strategy has backfired.
DEVELOPING . . .
Who is their attorney? I need one willing to sue the City of Kansas City, MO too!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was an assault with a firearm. Chanel 4 reports something different.
ReplyDeleteSly is going to raise more money now , one of his Lawyer buddies just got a retainer. The City will pay again.
ReplyDeleteFunk Wins.
ReplyDeleteStick it to this city!!! Finally someone said enough is enough!!
ReplyDeleteGreat, another lawsuit that I'll be paying for.
ReplyDeleteFOP will lose this case. They are simply hoping KCMO will reach a deal.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that mean they would win?
ReplyDeleteSly expects everybody to obey his orders.
If his son isn't willing to do that, then why should anybody else?
Go FOP. Take this worthless city administration down a notch or 2. The jist of the lawsuit is that the board of police commissioners is forbidden by state statute to negotiate with the city on things like this. The purpose is to keep politics out of the police department which nobody can argue would be a disaster. The board has to negotiate with a private insurance company for insurance on its own for kansas city's 2200 police employees. The ironic thing about that is that the board was able to negotiate a cheaper rate with blue cross then the city was because police employees are generally much healthier than other city employees. The city wants to bring the police department into its own healthcare plan, not because it will lower rates, but because it is 1 step closer to city control. The results of the investigation, prior to the issuance of the lawsuit, showed that it would not bring costs down overall for the city, but the police employees' insurance rates would go dramatically up. So essentially the city wants to bring the kcpd into its insurance plan to further its efforts for city control which would result in a little if any cost savings for the city and dramatically higher rates for police and their families. Bad idea all around.
ReplyDeleteDon't blame the FOP for this battle, blame the city counsel and bopc
ReplyDeleteLock em out.
ReplyDeleteAmen. Stick with it till the end. Expose the board and the city connection for everyone to see.
ReplyDeleteThe BOPC and Sly's political motivation is costing the city more money.
ReplyDeleteAt least the FOP has got balls enough to represent their members, unlike Local 42 who sold out the EMS employees. Good. Now the city has 2 multi-million dollar lawsuits they will lose.
ReplyDeleteBut who represents the taxpayer? When you look for justice thats what you find, "just us".
ReplyDeleteI'm a police officer and a taxpayer (weird, huh?). Guess what I don't care for what the city, FOP, and the BOPC is doing. The people who suffer the most are the officers with 10 years and less tenure and the taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteBring back The Funk. Sly is a piece of shit.
ReplyDeleteAnother example of our police department ripping off the Taxpayer. Just think if they put their nose to the grinder when it comes to homicides like they do for pay raises and insurance premiums. KCPD sucks. The people who suffer are the Homicide victims families and the city residents who have suffered under this 5 year long crime wave.
ReplyDeleteYeah, well think how much you would suffer if no 1 was sticking up for you? At least the f o p is doing whatever it can for its members. This out of control city administration has to be stopped. This will cost the taxpayers money because of decisions the city council and board of police commissioners and mayor made. No one else is responsible for this but them. The command staff of the kcpd is so disconnected from it's officers/detectives that they have lost touch and only do what's right for them and do not care about people who have not made command staff level rank yet. Its reprehensible at the level of disdain for officers that the command staff and board of commissioners displays.
ReplyDeleteDo you think for a second that the police department can solve homicides when a good portion of the people will not talk to them or tell them what they know? They are not mind readers. If you want to address the homicide issue don't blame the police department, blame the black people that are killing each other off like it's a national pastime. They keep blaming the kcpd for not doing anything but at the same time they won't cooperate so what are they to do...?
ReplyDeleteIf I was told that my insurance rates were going to go up and my coverage was going to go down and it was not going to save the city a dime I would be pretty pissed too! I don't blame them at all! I hope they expose this city council for the liars that they are.
ReplyDeleteI am getting sick and tired of the police using the fact that citizens don't cooperate with them to solve crimes. How do you think the feds make arrests inside the mafia and other gangster organizations? Get off your asses and start developing informants and you can solve some crimes.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a tv show.
DeleteWhat? You mean CSI Miami and the supranos aren't how real life works??
DeleteHey dumbass, quit watching CSI Miami and realize that it's scripted and not real. It taker the Feds many many years to bust the big crime families. And they have leads, and your tax money. Dot bitch about a job you know nothing about dipshit. Btw I'm not a cop ether.
ReplyDeleteThrough it all, Thanks to all the police.
ReplyDeleteFire thought they had won, but in the end they lost. Even if the FOP wins all PD members will lose in the end as the city already shorts the PD on health care coverage. If the city loses PD members will keep their own program but all will get no raises and HUGE increases to premiums to make up for shortage from the city. Nothing against the FOP, just merely warning that all need to be careful what they ask for as they might end up getting it.....
ReplyDeleteRaises will have to come in order to keep up with outside agencies.
DeleteSorry to burst your bubble, but the city cannot raise insurance rates on the police to make up for higher premiums on the city plan. The board of commissioners negotiates their own rates and plans with blue cross and the city according to state law cannot interfere. That would prohibit them from raising rates or having any affect at all on police department insurance rates
ReplyDeleteThrow them on the state policy and if they want to quit, let them go. There are plenty of MPs being mustered out and sent home to take their jobs. I hope they are happy working security at malls.
ReplyDeleteSorry bud but there aren't many lining up to join the PD. Have you not read somebody these posts? Call downtown and see how many new recruits will be coming out. Maybe the city won't be able to afford the toy train after the lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteI'm an officer, the FOP does not speak for me. They don't even represent most officers. My individual rate would go up $3 a month. I know this because I actually looked at the policy and didn't believe the FOP line. I will take the hit for a raise.
ReplyDeleteActually they do speak for you and all of the officers. $3 this year, probably $300 next year.
DeleteHere is the problem. Your a new cop with prob 3 years on and think you know everything. And you don't. So stop being a cancer and be a brother hood and stick by your fellow officer. Stop sucking of some commander and get your facts straight.. Fucking new guys
DeleteWe all are dealing with rising costs and less income. I live in northland and I see the police speeding though my neighborhood in police cars all the time without lights and sirens. How much does the police department vehicles and gas save a police officer's household? Has anyone considered making them live in high crime neighborhoods before they get personal use of city cars? I had a road rage incident happen to me and when I reported it the KCPD would not even make a report! I told a prosecutor and he commented on the laziness. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteReally...a report on road rage? "Listed victim stated he was driving northbound on I-29 when the listed Suspect (W/M, approx 20 years old in a mid 90's green Ford Taurus) drove past him yelling obscenities and flipping him off" Here is your report sir (waste of tree) we will now deploy additional resources in the area to apprehend this nuisance driver and give him a good tongue lashing. If anyone wonders why more police resources are not dedicated to fighting the homicide rate in this city, its because they are dealing with "Problems" like this.
DeletePlease change your name to "niave taxpayer"...road rage, are you kidding me??
DeleteIf the F.O.P. was worth a damn it would point out how the Commission is used primarily to protect the interests of KCMO "Old Money" families.
ReplyDeleteGet yourself invited to an Old Money private party & watch as on-duty police officers perform the roles of doormen & elevator attendants.
Old Money in KCMO is scared to death of black people (except those black people whose pocket books they control, e.g., Sly & Cleaver, etc.), and they use the Police Commission to protect themselves from black people at all times, evidencing a collective paranoid schizophrenia.
It's really funny how the FOP figured out we didn't want the city's insurance by listening to the Local 42 members on how bad the insurance is. If the insurance was that bad wouldn't Local 42 have demanded different insurance long ago? Who stands to gain from us going to city insurance? I guess the FOP should not have sold us down the river on retirement (i.e. the 32 year option mainly for commanders). My ins will go up $7 bi-weekly under city insurance plus the deductable. I stood to gain about $50 bi-weekly in a pay increase that we will now assuredly not get. Do you really think the money will be in that contingency account until this lawsuit is settled? As for the FOP representing all rank and file Sergeant and below...maybe we need to have that vote now to see who you really represent. Explain to me how an organization that is suposed to represent you however, your not a member of the FOP and cannot vote on the direction of the department...how exactly do you represent me? That sounds like the FOP believes they are smarter than we are and know exactly what we want without asking or involving the non-members they represent. I think, just in time for the new MOU, the BOPC should demand another vote on who wawnts the FOP's representation. I guess the masses leaving the FOP isn't sending them a signal. Go figure. Oh BTW lets get a membership drive going so we can buy a new building. It was the FOP saying how expensive this lawsuit was going to be but not so expensive that they should table buying a new building. Sound like the city is running the FOP too.
ReplyDeleteAnother commander trying to cause confusion.
DeleteHey commander if your so correct and a know all put your name on here. Stop hiding behind your desk like the rest of the so called leaders. And I use that term loosely.
DeleteNo sir, 11:29, I'm rank and file and there are many more rank and file that feel this way. I think commanders stand to make a bit more than $50 bi-weekly.
ReplyDeleteI love how you FOP idiots never debate the facts but instead question how long someone's been on the department and call them mis-informed. If you'd like to be helpful tell me what about my post is mis-informed? And BTW I've been on the department long enough to nearly be vested. If you would like to post something constructive in regard to my post feel free. Otherwise, keep drinking the coolaid. No raises and city insurance...good job FOP.
ReplyDeleteNot the appropriate forum for this, guys. Take your concerns to the Other 98 or the 2% if you want to discuss and have your questions answered. What the heck do you hope to accomplish by arguing under anonymous tags on Tony's? Move this to the correct venue for discussion. 12:28, if you're almost vested, then you should know what forums I'm referring to. If you don't, then simply ask one or two of your co-workers. They'll know.
ReplyDeleteI would like to have my questions answered here. Is there some reason that the e-board can't answer questions in public? I know you want the image out there that everyone on the department agrees with the FOP and stands behind every move they make but that's not the case.
ReplyDeleteWhat is a more appropriate forum than this? The FOP members have no problem crying foul on anything anyone else says on here but won't explain...I don't get it. Either keep a leash on your peeps or explain yourself here.
ReplyDeleteSo you are a non member and the FOP doesn't speak for you? That's funny, I don't recall any non members arguing against the current pay scale that the FOP fought for. I also don't recall anyone, that includes you, turning down the last step, you know the big one, that the FOP fought so hard for. All those trips to Jeff City must have just been for fun. I bet the pay scale was just a kind gesture from the Board and the city.
ReplyDeleteOK, when was the current MOU signed? Well prior to the huge pay increases you are referring to. Since the MOU has been in place I've gotten a 2% increase in pay that was paid for out of savings in our own budget, so you can't take credit for that either. I believe that the command staff was also in Jeff City to lobby for the pay bill as well, correct? How else could they get their lavish pay unless you lobbied for that too. How the hell whould you know what non-members want...have you ever bothered to ask. Have you ever bothered to include, in a voting manner, non-members. The answer to that question is...NO. Hell dues paying members can't even get e-mails from you. I was a member for many years and have observed when anyone tries to tell the e-board anything different than what they already believe, they don't listen, they mock and ridicule and talk behind people's backs. So no, your actions don't represent me. Your trying to be a labor union but only without any power to do anything. You settled for meet and confer. You handed the command staff an extra two years past their retirement age which clogs up promotions at all levels. And that was at the hand of the same type dirty politics that you accuse the mayor and the Chief of doing with health care. But your willing to fight the brand of insurance we have. Do you not understand that the city holds the purse strings. YOU HAVE NO POWER. You have at your behest a voting block of what maybe 100 FOPbots. The rest can and will think for themselves. If I recall correctly the FOP endorsed Forte for Chief, which I don't think was a bad choice, but you seem to be regretting that decision from the way you have talked to and about him. You turn around and have your members send him nasty e-mails because you were apparently unaware that the Chief did not have the power to make that health insurance decision. Where did the friends of the FOP put money for the mayor's race??? I bet it was with Mayor Sly's camp. All I see is the FOP looking out for themselves. Did you benefit from the pay increases? Would you have lobbied for pay increases for people if you knew you were not going to get one?
ReplyDeleteSurely working in the Mayors office you could have stuck up for yourself. Guess he don't care about you neither.
DeleteNot talking about the current mou. The current pay scale has been around a little longer than that. The f.o.p. has been going to Jeff city a lot longer than that.
