Did KCFD Stay Winning?!?! How So?!?!

There's some debate about the new KCFD contract in the comments.

TKC Question . . . Was this a victory for KCFD?!?

Today's headline from The Star seems to suggest as much:

KC fire union approves labor pact aimed at avoiding layoffs

There are still significant cuts but spread out over time . . .

So . . . You d-bags need to tell us . . . Did KCFD win? Did Mayor Sly blink? Does this mean more more attitude from the FD in the Price Chopper parking lot (according to TKC comment folklore) . . . Meanwhile, none of this changes the fact that Kansas City's budget stays losing over the long run thanks to a changing global economy and despite so much cowtown political intrigue.

  1. Anytime the city is closing companies and stations it is a huge loss. The taxpayers deserve a fire station near them, and with response times being a big issue closing two companies will only make that worse.

  2. That was a fireman talking. Taxpayers, not firefighters, decide how much fire protection they're willing to pay for.

  3. Right on, 8:25. Fire didn't lose. They're still fat. But they were trimmed, and rightly so.

  4. The taxpayers had no say in this! The city council and their agenda for spending budget money on tif projects was the reason behind this whole thing. How about we close the station near you and see how much whining you do then. Then again you probably live in johnson county and have no real voice in this whole thing

  5. The representation for the Firefighters agreed to this deal, so the Firefighters must be OK with it. If not, they need a new union rep.

  6. Once again the Unions in Kansas City demonstrate how far behind the times Kansas City is.

  7. Hey you idiots with the taxpayer comments! Firemen pay those same taxes you pay. Get over it. Most of you who make those comments probably don't pay your taxes. Get a life and start using the x-box and Hy-vee comments. Those are original! Not!

  8. Yeah, the xbox jokes are old. Wii bowling and Price Chopper, not xbox and hyvee.

All though, after this last contact the city presented, it will be Aldi and Atari.

  9. The big hit is the reduction in OT. We now have to work longer hours before we get paid an OT rate.
