Word to Kate Upton . . . It kinda seems like cuts to public safety in Kansas City aren't as controversial as I thought they would be . . . Mayor Sly and The City Council put forth some really bold measures to reduce services and resources for this town and it didn't even make the lead story on most newscasts.
Here's the link compilation:
KCUR: KC Budget Cuts Many Services
A Star editorial tap dances after a victory but doesn't make much mention of other pork that remains on the table for local special interests: A historic budget victory for KC taxpayers
From The Office Of Mayor Sly James: "This budget represents a win for the taxpayers of Kansas City and a significant break from the practices of the past. The priorities of the people of Kansas City have trumped more narrow interests. We have found a new way forward — together."
It's hard not to see so much propaganda and misdirection regarding this "win" for taxpayers . . . Make no mistake, the cuts to public safety are notable but really just a drop in the bucket considering how much money this town is gonna throw away on The Downtown Toy Train and The All-Star Game.
The Mayor raised his own budget ,so he was clear that cuts didn't effect him.How he could look in that crowd with young families to support and cut them while his office got a cadillac budget. Sly you re a liar.
ReplyDeleteThis city is going to hell in a hand basket!
ReplyDeleteIt was bound to happen since council cut Funkhousers budget out of spite. Just to get to fully staffed it had to go up. Take a look at the history and compare Barnes, Funkhouser and now James.
ReplyDeleteIf a teenager cuts his or her we call it sick, but when a government cuts itself we call it progress. Really stupid.
ReplyDeleteI like the toy train. TOOT TOOT!!!
ReplyDeletecan someone answer this question? did the members of the council give themselves another raise on this budget?? shame on them if they did!!
ReplyDeleteMayor and Council salaries are frozen for another three years. City Charter prohibits salary changes while in office.
ReplyDeleteThe quote from the Mayor's Office is ridiculous. The truth is the opposite of everything that was said.
ReplyDeleteSort of like Tonys kansas city huh "byron."
ReplyDeleteByron, you don't have a clue what's going on. But then, neither did Mark.
ReplyDeleteByron said the only reason he would visit this blog was to bash Mark. He said if Mark didn't win, he would leave. See ya later dude.
ReplyDeleteActually, this post, on Tony's blog is about KC budget cuts.
ReplyDeleteDo you guys(?) have something to contribute to the discussion?
So, how much are those tickets to the all star game for texpayers? I am sure a lot of "taxpayers"(i mean johnson county tazpayers) will enjoy the game.
ReplyDeleteYes, how will combining departments, placing those directors in cushy jobs in the city managers office, and creating and hiring new deputy directors in these new "super" departments save money? We are talking 3 to 4 new deputy directors at 160k each.
ReplyDeleteByron, what do you have to contribute? Do you vote in our elections? Do you pay our taxes? Do you drive our roads? Do you drink our water? How is the weather in West Virginia? No local political blogs there?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the concern. I like this one. So many racists to annoy.
ReplyDeleteAll Star week may just be the embarrassment this city needs to get rid of Sly and this Council.
ReplyDeleteByron appears to be the only racist here. Those who constantly talk about race are the true racists. Keep racism alive Byron.
ReplyDeleteByron is a niglet!
ReplyDeleteif the mayors office budget was good enough for funk why isnt it good enough for sly. it seems hes the only one untouchable on the budget. next thing they will take away the little 3 percent raises for the retired employees guess thats where slys increase is comming from
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile as the city council is in the process of slashing the public safety budget, gun shots rang out on the Plaza this evening. Good move right before the All-Star game, Sly.
