Not many people have seen this one so we'll call it breaking news . . .
Green Jobs for Kansas City
Check the Youtube description: "This new video shows how Green For All's local partners are helping forge a path to a cleaner, more prosperous future in Kansas City—putting people to work, cleaning up the city's air and water, and cutting energy costs."
Here's even more detail . . . A Bright Green Future for Kansas City
For better or worse, so much of this local green talk gives me the blues because this high maintenance weather stripping program is costing Kansas City money that might be better spent on public safety during debate over budget austerity and local priorities.
work is work.
ReplyDeleteCleaver fucked this up unless you are one of the four or five cronies he gave big money "planning" jobs to.
ReplyDeleteWhat a crock of shit.
ReplyDeleteThe trains and coal cars by Wheeler Airport and the coal-fired power plant in Wyandotte County have absolutely no relevance to the activities in the Green Impact Zone.
In fact, the GIZ is far from ANY fossil-fueled power plant.
Hell, you have to go all the way to LaCygne, Kansas to even find a power plant that might even remotely contribute air pollutants to the GIZ via prevailing winds.
In fact, the communities In Kansas City MOST impacted by air pollutants from coal-fired plants would be north of the river, Downtown/River Market/Columbus Park, and the eastern Blue River/Missouri River valley.
Where is the funding to help THOSE areas, Mr. Cleaver?
Actually, to find the prevailing winds one only needs to go so far as 3:05 in the video.....
ReplyDeleteI'm delighted with the job pipeline provided by the GIZ.
ReplyDeleteSince they're essentially duplicating the services, maybe now we can finally rid ourselves of the do-nothing Full Employment Council.
The African American community has ceded authority to idiots and crooks. Just look at the continuing Freedom Inc. scandal, which ultimately falls at Cleaver's feet.
ReplyDeleteI have never been a great believer in the "Girl Power" bull shit, but this is there chance to prove their reform credentials.
Jean Peters Baker should convene a Grand Jury and investigate Freedom Inc. starting with the well documented financial fraud that senior staff engaged in according to the Missouri Ethics Commission. Follow the money. Send Velda Cooke to jail, and the others along with her. Ultimately, we will find out how deep Cleaver is in this mess.
In addition, Theresa Garza-Ruiz and Crystal Williams should hold hearings into how Velda Cooke was rehired by Jackson County after she was fired last year. How did this happen? Did Cleaver intervene on her behalf? Demand the documentation on Velda's re-hiring be made public.
Prove you are reformers and the public will celebrate your leadership and service.
If Jean Peters-Baker started investigating what goes on in the KCPS district, the Green Imppact Zone, contracts at city hall, the Urban Summit gang, and all the rest of snouts in the trough, that's about all her office would have time to do.
ReplyDeleteIf the black community just keeps allowing themselves to be taken advantage of by these deadbeats, then it's going to continue until all of these people pass away, or their understudies take over, or everyone just moves out of neighborhoods east of Troost. The latter is gaining momentum every day.
If Jean Peters-Baker started doing that, she would be our next Congresswoman.
ReplyDeleteJust because she cannot do all of it, is no reason to not do any of it.
It does seem that this check endorsing situation at Freedom Inc would violate fraud laws and give her an opening to launch an investigation.
How is it that Velda got rehired by Jackson County?
ReplyDeleteIf we had what used to be called a "newspaper" in this town, they might have a "reporter" file a Freedom of Information Act request for any and all communications related to Velda's rehiring by the county after she was fired and when she was under investigation for ethics violations.
ReplyDeleteIf you cash checks that do not belong to you, isn't there a criminal violation involved "Mean Jean?"
ReplyDeletedidn't she give money to freedom inc. to endorse her for both her runs?
ReplyDeleteCleaver is no idiot. He knows how to make the money tap flow to the people that lick his balls. That's good, smart politics if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't forget come next fall during the United Way campaign at work, he has co-opted that organization, too.
Cleaver might not be an idiot, but he is a race-baiting, nasty politician who is only out for himself, and maybe his friends, if they'll scratch his back, too.
ReplyDeleteGreen Jobs are bull. They do not generate revenue; they are just a huge government spending program.
