Anti-Crime Activist Alonzo Washington Questions The Effectiveness Of Aim 4 Peace Amid This Week's Local Murder Spike!!!

Serious questions from Kansas City's anti-crime activist about a controversial KCMO organization that's supposed to be helping to curb the murder rate.

  1. What's Alonzo's problem? Everyone knows that A4P must be fully funded to be fully effective.

  2. That's odd, because after the first year in Zip Code 64130, Aim4Peace claimed that they had been a big success. Anyone organization can claim that they'd do better if they had unlimited money, in fact most of them do.
The question is, what can be done with the Aim4Peace approach with $600,000 a year to reduce the violence in KCMO?
From the results of the last four years, apparently not much. Maybe a different approach is needed. Say empowering the neighborhoods to work with the police and help provide for their own safety.

  3. AIM4Peace is a waste of money that could be spent on hiring more police officers.

  4. Question: did the murders happen in the zones that Aim4Peace works in?

Because unless I'm mistaken, they are still only funded to work in one or two small areas, not citywide, and if those murders are outside their area, then finding fault with them because of what happens outside their area is like blaming the Overland Park police for not curbing the murder rate in KCMO.

  5. "Aim4Peace currently focuses on the Police Department's East Patrol Division."

I guess in fairness, one must limit the scope of comparison to East Patrol.

  6. East Patrol eh? The most violent division in the city? Good job, Aim4Peace. Your plan is obviously working.

  7. Aim4Peace was a baby of Wayne Cauthen's Waynette, Tracy McLendon Cole. She is absolutely clueless about what she is doing. Aim4Peace is a miserable fail. Tracy actually trys to measure success on murders she prevented. Of course, you can't prove a negative, so her statistical analysis is nonsense, but she sucked up to Wayne so bad, she kept her job. Now everyone is afraid to cut this worthless money-sucking program from the City's budget because the East Side will stand up and scream racism at everyone. What they don't reallize is the cash Aim4Peace wastes could be used for neighborhood empowerment and other PROVEN programs in the East Side. But ole' Tracy has them all fooled, and she is firmly esconced in her well-paying position.

Aim4Peace needs to be eliminated. Who has the guts to call it what it is... an utter FAIL!

  8. Who's Alonzo Washington? Never heard of him.

  9. @10:41am
Your comments are not only entirely accurate about Aim4Peace and how it got started, but also why such a waste of money continues to be funded year after year. The council uses this funding as an excuse to wash their hands of their basic responsiblity of public safety and make believe they're actually doing something. Which they are not.
And being afraid of the east side loudmouths and trying to keep them at bay is apparently worth lots of taxpayer money.
And homicides continue at the rate of two every week and over 90% of them are in a 50-block area on the east side, which is where Aim4Peace is focusing its efforts.
So what exactly should our expectations be for $600,000 a year?
And of course, the Aim4Peace idea came from Chicago which just last weekend had 41 shootings in a two-day period.

  10. And there is more - Aim4Peace has not only been unable to produce verifiable results - if you ask KCPD to tell the truth - they can tell you many many stories where Aim4Peace has hindered investigations and put officers in greater harm and created more division between residents and the police. Aim4Peace is staffed by convicted felons - that is the program - sounds good in theory, right?
