WHY SHOULD KANSAS CITY TRUST MAYOR SLY'S PLAN TO RAISE PROPERTY TAXES IN THE NAME OF INFRASTRUCTURE?!?!

Justifiably so . . .

TKC READERS HAVE NOTICED AN OVERWHELMING DISTRUST OF KANSAS CITY GOVERNMENT WHEN IT COMES TO INFRASTRUCTURE PROMISES IN MAYOR SLY'S NEW BILLION DOLLAR PLAN!!!

Of course everybody loves Mayor Sly . . .

HOWEVER . . . WHY SHOULD KANSAS CITY TRUST INFRASTRUCTURE PROMISES WHEN MAYOR SLY SO QUICKLY LOST INTEREST IN TAKING OVER KANSAS CITY SCHOOLS?!?!

Don't argue with me about the fact that Mayor Sly's ambitious KCPS plan is dead in the water in Jeff City . . . Mayor Sly grew bored with playing Superintendent VERY QUICKLY . . . So far Mayor Sly seems to make great presentations with very little follow through.

SHIFTING THE E-TAX AROUND WHILE RAISING PROPERTY TAXES IS TROUBLING IF ONLY BECAUSE ALL OF THESE BUDGET MOVES GIVE THE APPEARANCE OF A SHELL GAME!!!

Smarter people than TKC are worried about the Mayor's budget . . . Sadly, The Star is currently playing cheerleader so don't expect any analysis for their small corner of the world.

For the moment . . . What we know for sure is there are a lot of taxes and spending in mayor Sly's budget and his priorities are still suspect since he hasn't cut his office or taken leadership in cutting anything else.

Mayor Sly's personality and presentation offered an early victory in this budget debate but raising property taxes based on nothing but promises and a smile seems dangerous.

  1. How come nobody is talking about the mayor increasing his own office budget by $500,000 (almost 50%)?

  3. KCMO city government can't possibly stand on its merits or accomplishments, which is why every ballot issue needs sleazeballs like Glorioso and Gray to lie and scare the public into supporting them. Then after the tax issues are approved, the council spends the money anyway they want, knowing that the public won't pay any attention and when the next election comes along, they can be played by the same consultants.
This will be the same. After millions spent on crap like streetcar studies, the Green Impact Zone, new hotel studies, and eho knows what else, Sly's tax increase campaign will try to convince voters that their very lives are hanging in the balance of its success.
    History says he'll win.

  5. The people need to change history. This is a losing plan for tax payers, while Sly brings in the Benjamin's.

  7. Sly and the rest of the city council have done nothing to show they can be trusted with $10 let alone a billion. Show us what you can do with what you have now before you start the well-known KC shuck and jive for more moola.

  8. Property taxes do not support the Water Dept. and it is an enterprise fund and makes money from selling water, storm water and sewer rates. No tax money goes to that dept- so this seems a little deceiving when talking about infrastructure.

  14. mayors office could cut 100000 from his budget if genaldo hasnt moved into the city limits yet. wheres the report for the city auditor they should win this one without spending alot of money trailing him. i had to live in this city for 36 years while i worked for the city so why isnt he held to the same charter as the rest of the city employees except firefighters we all know some of them dont live in the limits but the city wont touch them
