THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! TOP 5 REASONS KANSAS CITY WILL SOON FALL OUT OF LOVE WITH MAYOR SLY!!!

Love in the political world never lasts.
As a newbie, Mayor Sly James has never really had to battle negative public perception. However, more than a couple VERY SMART people I've talked with can see a time in the not-so-distant future when Kansas City no longer adores Mayor Sly James.
TAKE A LOOK AT THE TOP FIVE REASONS KANSAS CITY MIGHT SOON FALL OUT OF LOVE WITH MAYOR SLY!!!
FIREFIGHTER CUTS - One of my firefighter "friends" on facebook tells me that the City's budget is being balanced "on the backs of firefighters." Remember this group was responsible for putting Mayor Sly in office just as much as anybody else. They got their pay raises but these job cuts are going to hurt. Will they roll with the punches or remember the betrayal as election season rolls around?
THE DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN - Big money for a train that goes nowhere and will impede traffic downtown for at least a year. The reality of this potential boondoggle still hasn't sunk in and most locals haven't bothered to contemplate spending $100 million on what basically amounts to an amusement park ride.
THE DOWNTOWN HOTEL - Mayor Sly is on record as saying it's one of his priorities. No matter how much we love his smile there's NO WAY voters in Kansas City will go along with a 1,000 room taxpayer subsidized City-run hotel that uses the same model which already FAILED in STL.
SLY'S ONE BILLION DOLLAR BORROWING PLAN - In the name of infrastructure it sounds great . . . UNTIL WE REALIZE THAT IT'S PART OF WHAT COULD BE THE THE SINGLE LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN KANSAS CITY HISTORY . . . There's really nobody out there with the charisma to pull that one off. Sorry Sly.
EVEN MORE MURDERS - Here's a place where the Mayor has at least shown more concern than previous administrations who pretty much ignored the problem. Still, for all that concern we're still living in a particularly violent and deadly City and it seems that the Mayor and City Council are far more involved in prepping for the MLB All-Star game.
Now, none of this is to say that Mayor Sly can't overcome every one of these challenges by changing his course of action.
But what insiders tell us is that . . .
THE MAYOR SEEMS TO HAVE SURROUNDED HIMSELF WITH NOTHING BUT "YES MEN" AND CRITICISM RARELY FIND ITS WAY UP TO THE 29TH FLOOR!!!
So, consider this my civic duty (hehe, doody) and just a brief reality check for Kansas City's top elected official.
And all of this has inspired tonight's playlist.
As always, thank you for reading this week and have a safe and fun weekend.
Does anybody still vote?
ReplyDeleteAll of the regular insiders, contractors, consultants, racial extortionists, developers, downtown boosters, and other grifters think Sly and this council are swell. The money just keeps coming, there's no strategy at all for the future of the city, and the public and basic services, even public safety continue to be ignored.
ReplyDeleteA city that works. Just not for you.
8:36 said it perfectly. The wealthy and well connected treat us in this city like an ATM. It's getting old.
ReplyDeleteLet's see Sly up something on the ballot. He won the Zoo Tax District but that was easy. KC wanted penguins and everybody loves the zoo. A hotel is another thing altogether.
ReplyDeleteSly has anointed himself King. Sad very sad.
ReplyDeleteTony, let us not forget the East Patrol building at 26th Prospect to Brooklyn. He endorsed that project and lied to residents that he'd agree to meet them to discuss the issues... Never happened. He's big, fat liar!
ReplyDeleteYou're just being nice... Nobody likes Slick, especially Kansas Citians.
ReplyDeleteFUNK WINS!
ReplyDeleteWhy do we need a train when the city is already full of coal haulers?
ReplyDeleteSly makes the Funk look good, and you are right Tony those jackals he calls staff are killing him
ReplyDeleteLet Mr. Mayor run the school district and a lot of these other projects will go away.
ReplyDeleteGo against.local 42. Your career is pretty much over. Learn you lesson politicos!
ReplyDeleteIf you need local 42 to win an election, than why didn't Funk win?! He had their endorsement? Fucking idiot
ReplyDeleteBig picture vision and big ticket projects are great so long as the streets are paved, plowed and safe; the trash gets picked up; water main breaks are promptly addressed, etc.
ReplyDeleteNeglect the fundamental functions of City government, and your first term will be your last.
Assuming he even cares in the first place, Sly's office seems to be too full of political players and paybacks to effectively deal with the concerns of average constituents.
It will be interesting to see which members of the Mayor's staff get over being the popular new kids on campus and realize you gotta go to class and do the homework to make the grades.
Local 42: legends in their own small minds. Largely irrelevant anymore.

Anonymous people never achieved anything.
Anonymous people are nothing but cowards.
Thank you for being super, Dave...
DeleteCall me... Super David...
Will that make you happy??
All city employees are tired of the reckless spending. Many have already been through a rif, exempts are still waiting for the raise/cola that labor and hour managmeent got this year. Not right to pit one group against another group in the city as we all work for the common goal. Fires have to be put out, water has to be available, streets fixed, housing fixed, policing done. Maybe the Mayor and staff should spend a day in the non-elected staff's shoes.
ReplyDeleteJan Marcason will hold another secret meeting on Sly's behalf.
ReplyDeleteCities problems will be solved, city council will make more money, and citizens will pay higher taxes.
Hey here is an idea those who really do work for a living all move out and leave KC-MO to Sly his gang of tax money robbers and the non workers.
ReplyDeleteI will be Sly's friend forever if I can just have a ticket to the All-Star Game. I want to go to that game so bad because I want to be with bull shitters and lifeless people who have to be at events just to be seen or tell people about being there later.
ReplyDeletedear stupid dave,
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE A FUCKING RETARD!!!
sincerely:anon
Dear Anon
ReplyDeleteDon't you realize that there are enough people to hate in the world already, without your putting in so much effort to give us another?
Sincerely: Super Dave
