WHO
If you've ever wanted to learn more about the transformation of the KCPS, policy governance or running an effective grassroots write-in campaign, this opportunity is for you. This workshop was created for people that live, work, worship and/or play in the KCPS and that want to walk the walk on behalf of our scholars, not just talk the talk.
WHAT
A hands-on workshop for anyone wanting to learn about policy governance or write-in campaigns.
WHEN
Saturday, March 3rd from 9am til 2pm
WHY
On April 3rd, there will be four seats on the KCPS board up for election. This workshop will better educate stakeholders about the difference between micromanagement and governance -- a distinction critical to the development of effective school boards. In addition, sessions will be available regarding strategies for mounting effective write-in campaigns.
The well-being of Kansas City and the KCPS are inextricably linked one to the other -- we can't have a world-class community without world-class schools. But world-class schools don't happen by accident. They require highly engaged communities and leaders; they require us.

I admire most forms of resiliency so I don't want to flavor the discussion too harshly but I will ask this question . . .
GIVEN THE CURRENT STATE OF THE KCPS . . . WHAT CAN KANSAS CITY SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER AIRICK L. WEST TEACH NEW SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS?!?!?
Like it or not, no one can say that Mr. West isn't a survivor given a great deal of acrimony he has taken in recent months.
However . . . What might be more important than all of this . . .
THIS MIGHT BE YET ANOTHER SIGNAL OF GROWING CONFIDENCE AMONG THE DENIZENS OF THE KCPS OVER THE FACT THAT THEIR DISTRICT MIGHT NOT BE DESTROYED BY THE TIME THE MISSOURI GENERAL ASSEMBLY IS OUT OF SESSION!!!
There are write-in candidates out there . . . And KCPS might very well remain an interesting facet of local life for just a little while longer.
