Here's a brief AND PERFECT look at everything wrong with Kansas City right now:
This e-mail just came down . . .
"Due to the weather the Commission on Violent Crime will not meet today."
Remember this part of the effort related to The Mayor's (mostly worthless) Commission against violent crime.
So I was thinking . . .
A FEW INCHES OF SNOW STOPS KANSAS CITY GOVERNMENT FROM FUNCTIONING AND MAYOR SLY SHOULD REALLY TAKE THE BLAME FOR THIS EPIC FAILURE!!!
Seriously, it's a few inches of snow . . . Nothing really. Still, Kansas City is gripped by fear.
MEANWHILE MAYOR SLY IS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT BASEBALL GAMES AND DOWNTOWN TRAINS IN HIS BUDGET!!! I KNOW MAYOR SLY HAS A BEAUTIFUL SMILE BUT THAT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE TO KANSAS CITY LEADERSHIP!!!
Remember that we had a week to prepare for this "disaster" or whatever.
Enjoy the commute home . . . Because this isn't anything close to a blizzard and so far Mayor Sly and Kansas City has failed to deal with it . . . They probably needed my mom nagging them to shovel at 5 in the morning as I was comfortably recovering from a weekend X-box marathon . . . 24 hours of video games doesn't come as easy for a man in his late 30s . . . Which might be why I'm in a bad mood about this Kansas City snow removal hot mess that doesn't really impact me in this basement.
More later . . . I gotta go buy more salt.

ReplyDeleteThe Commission on Violent crime is a complete waste of time. They started with the report that was FINISHED in 2006 and have been meeting for months without offering any of the report's recommendations or any of their own. Meanwhile east side homicides continue at the rate of two every week.

ReplyDeleteThe politicos in this city haven't figured out that the number one problem this city has is violent crime. We just finished 2011 with 114 homicides, which represents a three year high. Until they come up with a comprehensive plan to reduce violent crime, there is no hope for attracting businesses, tourists, and residents back into KCMO. People are afraid of becoming a victim of violent crime! They aren't going to ride a street car, toy train because they are going to be afraid of becoming another victim of violent crime. No one wants to be a statistic!!!

When crime goes down, tourists will come back to Kansas City, Missouri. When crime goes down, people will move back to Kansas City, Missouri. Then you will have a reason to build your toy trains!
Please mayor and police chief. I can't afford more taxes and I can't walk down the street safely. My kids are scared!

You would think there would be more deaths during a snow storm. Makes it easier for the
ReplyDeletelittle thugs to target each other. This is our mayor leading by example. By keeping off the streets and keeping snow on them he is trying to show the citizens that there are indeed merits to shitty snow removal.
In our neighborhood, a snow plow made a pass at 7 a.m. Our street NEVER got plowed at all before on the day of a snowfall, and maybe it would a couple days after a snow of biblical proportions.
ReplyDeleteAnd as I drove into work this morning, the major streets were treated with sand and salt and plowed curb to curb down to the pavement.
Admittedly, this was hardly the worst snowfall I have ever seen, but it certainly was as good a snow removal job as I have seen in several years.
It's easy to look good when it's easy. IE small amount of snow = easy to remove.
