Jason Kander Files for Missouri Secretary of State

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Rep. Jason Kander today officially filed to run for Missouri Secretary of State.

In just five short months since announcing his candidacy, Kander has traveled throughout the state talking to Missourians about his vision for the office. Kander, a Democrat, has nearly twice as much campaign funds on hand as any of his three Republicans opponents. Kander has been endorsed by dozens of elected officials and organizations from across the Show Me State.

"From a young age I was taught to fight for what you believe in," Kander said. "Whether it was signing up for the Army after 9/11, or representing my neighbors in the legislature, public service has always been how I believed I could make a real difference. Now more than ever Missourians need to have someone who will fight each and every day for them in Jefferson City. Today I filed to be Missouri's next Secretary of State because I believe these past fights have prepared me to tackle the challenges that lie ahead for Missouri families."

Jason Kander is a State Representative from Kansas City. As a military intelligence officer in the Army Reserve, Kander volunteered in 2006 for deployment and served in Afghanistan. In 2010, he was one of ten soldiers selected as national finalists for Army Reserve Outstanding Junior Officer of the Year. Rep. Kander currently serves on the Missouri Veterans Commission. Kander is a lawyer and lives with his wife Diana in Kansas City.
