KANSAS CITY HATES PUBLIC TRANSIT!!!

KC Biz Journal reminds us that nobody likes the Bus . . . And Mayor Sly's Toy Train probably isn't going to change the perception in this town that public transit is for hobos and hipsters who aren't in a rush: Kansas City ranks 183rd for public transit use

  1. Could you do something constructive for once in your life and drop the "Toy Train" epithet? Clay Chastain has given mass transit a bad name in this town, but it's going to be necessary in the future, and we have to start somewhere.

  2. Looks like it's working TKC. keep at it. How dare KC spend 25 million on this folly.

  3. @12:13 It is not going to be necessary in the future. This metro is too huge for trains. The population density of this city is not increasing. The jobs are not centrally located. Any train line is going to be a huge waste of money.

  4. YOU STOLE A GOOD UNIQUE phrase LIKE "TOY TRAIN" FROM ME and now you're running it into the ground. How unimaginative!

  5. Just a wee bit misleading.

What the statistics purportedly measure is NOT total mass transit use, but use by workers to get to and from jobs.

I also fail to see how a "toy train" from the River Market to Crown Center is going to improve that number.

You going to drive from the 'burbs to the River Market, then hop a trolley to your job downtown or in Crown Center?

  6. NO Bi-State equals NO Transit. Trains from nowhere to nowhere are just another burden for overtaxed KCMO taxpayers!

  7. Embarrassing.

  8. The "Train" is a Sly legacy play. All the bonds for parking garages dt and streets to "no where" up north (north of M 152) should tell everyone that KC will never be a transit town. Thanks for calling it out Tony...the plan sucks.

  9. All over the nation there are these efforts to install toy trains. Sorry TKC. don't get in the way or you'll get run over.

  10. Oh, but we DESPERATELY need light rail!
