TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! CHRIS MILLER WINS FIRST ROUND IN THE KANSAS CITY FIGHT TO REPLACE KANDER!!!

Let's bring everybody up to date on the political fight brewing in the Ward Parkway Corridor.
The 44th is now the 25th . . .
Kansas City's favorite son Mo House Rep. Jason Kander is the "Cash King" in his Missouri Secretary Of State campaign . . . And now the race is heating up to replace him.
We've profiled both the candidates but today's MO Ethics Commission Campaign Finance reports reveal a good look at where they stand.
To wit . . .
UMKC LAW STUDENT CHRIS MILLER WINS THE FIRST ROUND IN THE CASH RACE TO CLAIM KANDER'S MO HOUSE SEAT!!! HE'S GOT MORE THAN $20K ON HAND!!!
Jeremy LaFaver is his competition. So far Mr. LaFaver has raised a bit more than $10k raised this filing period and he has around $8k on hand.

Meanwhile, today's victory by Chris Miller establishes him as a very real contender with $22k raised this filing period and more than $20k on hand.

Remember that this is just the opening round but also consider . . .
IN A TENSE KANSAS CITY DEMOCRAT PRIMARY THE AMOUNT OF CASH RAISED IS CRITICAL!!!
Maybe even more so given that both candidates say that Mr. Kander isn't going to make any endorsement.
Here's Chris Miller's presser on the topic . . . STAY TUNED TO MORE EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE ON THIS KANSAS CITY WARD PARKWAY POLITICAL BATTLE AS IT BREAKS HERE ON TKC!!!
Miller Provides Strong Showing in First Test of Campaign
Kansas City, MO – State Representative candidate Chris Miller reported today raising $22,000 during the fourth quarter of 2011 with a cash on hand balance of $20,934 for his race to succeed Jason Kander in Missouri’s 25th state house district.
Miller’s list of contributors includes friends and supporters from all walks of life across the state of Missouri, with notable support from local grassroots activists and labor organizations.
Chris attributed his strong fundraising to the fact that his message of standing up against Republicans in the legislature to level the playing field for all Kansas Citians and Missourians is resonating with supporters and voters of the district.
It is also notable that Chris showed a strong base of supporters with 117 individual contributions.
“I am overwhelmed to already have raised over $20,000 and I am humbled by the amount of support that we have received so far,” Miller said. “It’s nice to see that an underdog outside of the establishment, like myself, can attract this level of support. I’ve known from day one that this race wouldn’t be won with endorsements or special ties to Jefferson City, but rather through the hard and rewarding work of reaching out to the voters of this district. This early success will help me do just that.”

It's all about money.
ReplyDeletethis guy is trying to buy a seat cash and carry.
ReplyDeleteHis opponent is a lobbyist that is getting establishment support; sounds like 2008 all over again. Just as last time, the last person we need in Jeff. is another insider doing the business of his lobbyist friends. Don't know much about Miller, but the kid appears to be pretty legit. Won't be long now before all of the haters in Lafavers' camp start using the dirty tactics they used against Kander.
ReplyDeleteyou mean like pointing out that there is no reason why he should run from "the closet?"
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how Miller plans to "level the playing field for all Kansas Citians" as a junior member of a very minority party in Jeff City.
ReplyDeleteEither he's blowing smoke or doesn't have a clue and either way, it's pretty lame.
he looks like a stealth Republican candidate to me.
ReplyDeleteYou mean Kander, right?
ReplyDeletei hope looks are deceiving.
ReplyDeleteRead a piece on Lafavever not too long ago - seems nice, but too entrenched in the mess that is Jeff City. Said he would run a clean race, unlike that disaster Coffman ran a few years ago. Not sure how that will take place given that he has the same folks supporting him (insiders and kc elite wannabes). Should try to distance himself from those folks and run as his own man or this kid will bury him.
ReplyDeletewhat is needed is legitimate candidate.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I am watching a primary in Cole County, not Jackson County, when I see these two traveling salesmen.
ReplyDeleteIf a female candidate from the district files late, then these two guys are toast.
Since term limits, it is all about district shopping by children who want to play legislator.
Chris moved into the district so he can run... Jeremy has lived in the district for over 5 years...
ReplyDeleteIt does look bad for LaFaver in that the same crowd who failed to launch a campaign against Kander in 2008 seems to have adopted him. They fell behind Kander in early fundraising as well, and that sucked the air out of the room. No one wanted to throw good money after bad. There are too many places where contributions are needed.
ReplyDeleteThe puppet candidate that La Casa Kander put up to split the vote three-ways sealed the deal for Jason in 2008. We know Kander says he had nothing to do with it – like Romney and Gingrich cannot talk to the Super PACs that support them.
ReplyDeleteThe most brilliant and most evil aspect of that 2008 campaign was Diana Kander's use of Gone Mild, the former Star blog and this one for attacks. She used several personas to make outragerous statements so that Kander supporters could knock them down. The tactic made Coffman look like morons and bigots in the eyes of opinion leaders and Democratic contributors. I have it on good authority that some of the same people behind LeFaver now were mad at each other then because they assumed it was one in their ranks who were making those damaging comments.
ReplyDeleteDiana Kander is brilliant and totally without ethics or morals, which makes her very dangerous and very, very effective.
What a pair of fags, LOL.
ReplyDeleteHow much you wanna bet that Diana files to run and Miller is being used to split the vote?
ReplyDeleteMiller does not live here. LeFaver owns a house in the district but he spends most of his time drunk in bars and hospitality suites on Jeff City.
Let me get this right - Lafaver's getting paid by corporations to be a lobbyist and enjoy the perks of being in the Capitol. Now he wants the public to pay him to do the same?
ReplyDeleteNice, how much and who did you pay to write this? Chris miller, you are shady and dirty. nice try but we are too smart to fall for this cheap trick
DeleteThis guy has three times what the Lafaver guy has, even though the Lafaver guy (appears to be) a puppet for the local machine? Wow. Methinks the local machine made a bad bet again.
ReplyDeleteI would respect Miller more if he "came out."
ReplyDeleteSorry to disappoint you, but he's not gay
DeleteLOL does he believe that?
ReplyDeleteI can't stand this douche! Is there any way we can vote to kick him out of KC?? He sucks. I know him personally. Don't waste your vote on this loser.
