Eastside Crime Lab Hot Mess Continues

KCTV5: "Controversy continues over city's plans to buy out homeowners for crime lab"

A great many residents don't want it while local politicos and officials haven't given much credence to these persistent objections.

  1. More Tax $$$ down the tube.

  2. Tearing down homes --places that peopl live rather than using the area where houses were vacant and vacant land existed. More economic thinking from Sly and the boys. Who is going to sell property?

  3. Why doesn't the City just scrap the Police/Crime lab project in the 26th to 27th Street/Prospect to Brooklyn to the East area? They are just abusing taxpayers, homeowners and voters who are being misrepresented by the Mayor and Third District City Council. All the politicians in this matter know that the residents are not being fairly treated or represented. Why can't they build the project in an area where there is blocks of vacant land or in its present place? Leave the homeowners alone in that targeted area. They put their trust in the American Dream and probably voted for the ones who are ignoring their pleads, tears and having to lose their homes, their memories and probably going to be in More debt after the City and the police take their property. What happened to Justice For All?

  4. That neighborhood is where a shit ton of crime originates. Toss the monkeys out and put something worthwhile in their place.

  5. There were a lot of dumb, stupid comments on the KCMOTV5 Facebook about the homeowner who is fighting the City to save her home from the police station/lab. I wish I had the time to write each one who are probably living with their heads buried in the sand. The irresponsible comments are from folks who probably don't have to worry about the City taking their prooperty or their property is not worth taking. To all of you who wrote dumb, stupid comments without having all the facts, keep your comments to yourself. Crime will not get better in that area. The homeowners will never get fair value when property values are down about 30% or more over the last five years. Property values have always been lower in the Urban core where the cost of living is higher. What is fair about that!

  6. I didn't know human beings or God's children were monkeys. Most of the crime orignates somewhere else and dump in that area. There is crime everywhere even where you live and type ignorant rants about human beings. Crime won't improve with police/crime lab in that area. Most crime happens within blocks of police stations. And if people don't find jobs, and earn an education/skill, the crime rates will increase everywhere.

  7. The project itself is fabulous but the location is a disaster. They are trying to put a police station at a location that is not even in the boundaries of that precinct. This project needs to be built farther east, much farther east. How about building the crime lab downtown in all that vacant property next to police headquarters? Perfect location.

  9. Why not build it in the park 23rd and Topping. It's an under used park that has plenty of space and you wouldn't have to move anyone. Has great access and would accommodate all east siders. Sounds like someone is making money off this deal.

  10. Hey, you wanna toss monkeys out...? start with the religious organizations supporting this project.

  11. Let's face it Brookside residents would never be subject to this experience with the City... too many angry whites (and we love our angry white people - thank you, angry white people...a true catalyst for change!) This City jumped the gun on supporting this initiative particularly when they had a huge, back-slapping hand in causing the deterioration of the area. The payday goes to the religious facility on Wabash and E 27th... Start there to find truth. Scratch a lie and find a thief! Maybe these folks can arrange for the closing of more businesses in the area while they're pushing for destruction? Banking on reconstruction, huh?
