Recently a great deal of online and local hate has been directed at attorney Clinton Adams Jr. simply because he was a strong and effective advocate for his community in the recent Kansas City council redistricting process.
But let's really put this in perspective . . .
IT REALLY WAS A SHAME THAT AT THE LAST MINUTE A CROWD OF ANGRY WHITE PEOPLE SHOWED UP TO A REDISTRICTING MEETING WITH A SILLY SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT AND BECAME ANGRY AND LOUD WHEN THEY DIDN'T GET THEIR WAY!!!
A friend of TKC (white dude, one of the good ones) sat in the back of the meeting and noted that the angry mob move wasn't an effective strategy and really wasn't going to get the group anywhere.
The Mayor's statement on Council Redistricting was actually a stellar bit of leadership on his part because it really calls for compromise.
Without allowing much room for debate Kansas City Dead Tree Media Columnist Yael T. Abouhalkah seems to imply that Mayor Sly James was referring to Mr. Adams in his remarks. Also . . .
YAEL HAS A REALLY WEIRD HABIT OF CALLING BLACK DUDES "BOMBASTIC" WHEN THEY SPEAK UP!!!
A quick Google Search will yield a couple of instances where the strange description crops up . . . I won't belabor the point but the word choice is awkward.
Anyhooo . . .
WHAT YAEL DOESN'T MENTION IS THE NASTY TONE OF THE CROWD WHO TREATED THE REDISTRICTING MEETING LIKE A FOOTBALL GAME AND KEPT SHOUTING DOWN CLINTON ADAMS AS HE CONCLUDED HIS REMARKS!!!
I think it's fair to contend that Mayor Sly might have been referring to both sides of this discussion with his remarks given that the behavior of some members of Waldo/Brookside mob only interested in redistricting at the last moment certainly lacked any sort of civility.
And now that I think about it . . . Clinton Adams has worked much harder at this redistricting deal than the angry and entitled mob. He has been at all of the meetings and worked behind the scenes for a compromise . . . It's not like he just showed up and demanded to get his way like so many other folks who attended the last get together . . . To wit . . . Clinton Adams has shown his ability to compromise and advocate effectively during this redistricting process. Meanwhile, just a few angry reactionaries from Waldo/Brookside have turned this debate into yet another predictable discussion about race that they're already lost.
DEVELOPING . . .
Nice hat!
ReplyDeleteWaldo/Brookside mob? My goodness. What would happen if you referred to the Third and Fifth Districts as the "East-of-Troost mob?" (And I know the Fifth is no longer totally east of Troost, but who lets facts get in the way?)
ReplyDeleteI wasn't at the meeting, but as part of the Waldo/Brookside 'hood, I think it's obvious that we're being split from the current Fourth to dilute the effectiveness we have earned by our high voter turnout compared with the other south-of-the-river council districts.
Incidently, we're not all lily white down here, and I think all our residents--those "of color" and those without color are of one mind on this.
People like Clintpn Adams and his sister Gwen Grant have done more damage to the city, particularly to the black community, than any other two people you could name. Just drive around the area east of Troost and see all the succes.
ReplyDeleteAnd all the while they've made very nice livings intimidating and extorting the cowarda at city hall and in corporate boradrooms.
What a duo to celebrate!
7:02 +1 Clinton Adams is an opportunistic troll who milks the system for all it will give him. He is a sham lawyer and a disgrace to black Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteClinton Fucking Adams has been disbarred! Doesn't anyone know what that means? It means he's an asshole who has been caught.
ReplyDeleteThe map was more than just Clinton, Tony.
ReplyDeleteApprove the map. Get it done and move on. That's it.
ReplyDeleteThe quicker you destroy the tax base corridor from State Line to Troost, the quicker the city will turn into East St. Louis.
ReplyDeleteOr Detroit.
ReplyDeleteThat's what's happening.
Right on as usual Chuck.
The first thing you do when you zone a regional landfill is to mark the boundaries clearly and put a big fence around it.
ReplyDelete3rd District
John Sharp doesn't care about Brookside/Waldo. He is only using them to create divisions in the the city.
ReplyDeleteI would rather have Waldo/Brookside counterbalancing the haters in the South. than concentrating all the progressive votes in the old 4th.
ReplyDeleteHere is my problem: Why does this always have to be a racial discussion?
ReplyDeleteLet's draw the maps by neighborhood and school district lines. That would be fair and it would take the subject of race out of it.
Grandview is in the 6th District how would you draw those lines for Kansas City Council districts.
ReplyDelete@Greg G.:
ReplyDeleteIt unfortunately always turns into a racial discussion, becasue what passes for ledership in the black community makes its living by blaming others and claiming victimization that only they can fix and entitlement that only they can claim.
And city hall and the corporations fold every time. It's easier than worrying about some press claiming racism, or a discrimination law suit.
And it works great for a handful of folks, but a quick tour of the east side will show its devastatin results for the b;ack community.
Self-importance and greed certainly isn't limited to the black community, but it's had a terrible effect there.
Black people can't do anything right! They can't spell, keep their law license intact, remain calm, hold down a normal job, not steal, etc, etc. Again, niggers just ruin everything.
ReplyDeleteTony, what is it with your fixation on Clinton and his sista, Gwen? Anytime anything comes out even mildly critical you feel the need to rise to their defense. They are a couple of self-serving people who don't give a rats ass about their community. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAs a rule - if Clinton supports it - you should be on the opposite side if you want to be right.
