"This ties together all the redistricting circus:
"In addition to announcing for the new 37th district, Holsman is endorsing a number of candidates seeking election in new districts. Those endorsements include support for Rep. Kevin McManus in the 36th District, Hickman Mills School Board President Bonnaye Mims in the 27th District and Children's Advocate Jeremy Lafaver in the 25th District."
"We have a great slate of candidates for the South Kansas City and Grandview area. I have worked with all three individuals in the legislature and can attest to their commitment to improve our part of the state." Holsman said.
Note: Holsman will NOT live in the 37th and I don't think Bonnaye lives in the 27th . Bonnaye and Jason I think live in the 36th and could not get by him in a primary."

Holsman Announces Candidacy for the 37th District
Endorses Kevin McManus in the 36th, Bonnaye Mims in the 27th and Jeremy Lafaver in the 25th
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - State Rep. Jason Holsman, D-Kansas City, today declared that he is seeking re-election to the Missouri House of Representatives next year in the newly created 37th District.
A six-judge panel of the Missouri Court of Appeals on Nov. 30 submitted a new map for Missouri's 163 House districts that radically redraws district boundaries in Kansas City and the rest the of the state. Under the redistricting plan, 55 House incumbents who are eligible to seek re-election in 2012 under term limits are grouped into new districts with other incumbents.
Holsman, who represents the existing 45th District, and fellow Democratic state Rep. Kevin McManus of the 46th District, were drawn together into the new 36th District. As a result, Holsman will seek re-election in the neighboring 37th District, which will be an open seat.
The new 37th District takes voters living on the west side of Highway 71 in South Kansas City and Grandview who previously resided in the 45th District and draws in the voters on the east side of Highway 71 with voters previously living in the 46th District.
In the aftermath of these changes Democratic Party leaders in South Kansas City and Grandview have come together to discuss the options available for the next election.
Because of Holsman's deep roots in Grandview, coupled with the fact that Holsman is entering his final term in the Missouri House and is barred from seeking re-election after 2012, he was the natural choice to run in the newly formed 37th District.
Under the Missouri Constitution, when new legislative districts are created less than one year prior to the next general election, as is the case with the new House map, the usual residency rules are relaxed and candidates have some ability to run in districts that they don't currently live in. A House candidate who runs in another district in 2012 and wins would have to move into that district a year before the 2014 elections in order to seek re-election that year.
Holsman, who serves as the Chairman for both the Committee on Renewable Energy and the Joint Committee on Urban Agriculture, has represented Main Street Grandview in the Missouri House since first elected in 2006. The Holsman family owns a horse ranch, Holsman Stables, in the middle of the new 37th. Holsman grew up in Grandview living on Park Hills Drive and attended Meadowmere elementary.
"Having represented voters on the west side of 71 highway for the past five years, I'm excited to get to know the voters on the east side where I spent my childhood growing up. I have grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins whom I finally get to represent," Holsman said, "Nothing changes for me in the legislature because I have been working hard for the entire city of Grandview since I was first elected in 2006."
Holsman will also retain a portion of South Kansas City in the new 37th District.
In addition to announcing for the new 37th district, Holsman is endorsing a number of candidates seeking election in new districts. Those endorsements include support for Rep. Kevin McManus in the 36th District, Hickman Mills School Board President Bonnaye Mims in the 27th District and Children's Advocate Jeremy Lafaver in the 25th District.
"We have a great slate of candidates for the South Kansas City and Grandview area. I have worked with all three individuals in the legislature and can attest to their commitment to improve our part of the state." Holsman said.
Holsman for Missouri campaign headquarters will be relocated to the Holsman Stables at 9920 E 137th, Kansas City, Mo.

Holsman is destined for bigger and better things. We are lucky to have an individual this talented in office. Unlike most politicians, Holsman could be very successful in the private sector but has chosen to serve the public for all the right reasons.
ReplyDeleteThe Jeremy Lafaver endorsement proves the fact that Holsman is out of his mind.
ReplyDeleteJeremy Lafaver is out of work although his political friends have created some "consulting contracts" for him.
There is no crime being out of work, but when your wife just had a baby and you do not have a job, but you decide to run for office rather than seeking gainful employment with benefits all that means is that you are a low-life, self-centered asshole Jeremy Lafaver.
Holsman should be smarter than that.
The Lefevor endorsement is a big mistake. Take care of business first.
ReplyDeleteWell now that we have heard from chris miller and his family, the fact is the 45th district covered the new 25th district from 85th to 435hwy. Those are Holsman voters and im sure he wanted to leave them in good hands, or at least with a candidate who doesn't spend the day making anonymous comments on local blogs.
ReplyDeleteLa Flaver is a good guy. You should probably leave his wife and kid out of it you douche bag. You add nothing to the discussion with the personal attacks.
ReplyDeleteBrendan running for office? Really?
ReplyDeleteSounds like LaFaver is the one who should worry about his wife and kids rather than his own ambition.
ReplyDeleteman, i love a cigarette smoking slut
ReplyDeleteGood for Holsman. A good guy.
ReplyDeleteHolsman fools around and LaFaver is a falling down drunk in Jeff City. The LaFaver would fool around too but his dick does not work so well when he is that drunk.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what these guys do in Jeff City but it sure isn't leading this backwater state into the future. Mo and Kan are a joke, I am moving as soon as I can afford to leave this shithole.
ReplyDeleteIt does appear that Jason has a drinking problem and young Mr. Miller is not honest about who he is.
ReplyDeleteLots of flaws.
LaFaver does look like a country-assed drunk.
ReplyDeleteI like Faye's work. It is always so sensitive and loving.
ReplyDeleteEspecially the anal.
