The facts:
Mr. Littlejohn has law enforcement experience.
He's a young, energetic young man who has already garnered a great deal of experience in community organizing and volunteering.
Mr. Littlejohn has been an integral part of recent election victories as of late including but not limited to some volunteering for Freedom Inc. and Mayor Sly's campaign on the East side.
Here's a money quote from an Jackson County Insider . . .
"Sheriff Sharp is going to have a formidable opponent in Littlejohn. He can't afford to ignore or overlook him. There's the Freedom vote to consider and a block of votes up for grabs throughout the Eastside."
Another expert political insider said this last night . . .
"He's a campaigner. That much is for sure. His work ethic is without question and that's ultimately going bring him a lot of success."
I've talked with Dwon Littlejohn recently and he seems eager for campaign season to kick into full gear.
"I'm not going to run a traditional campaign," Mr. Littlejohn said. "I want to get out there in the community and show people that there is an alternative to the status quo."

Let's also remember that The Star rescinded their endorsement of Sheriff Sharp at the last moment during the previous election. By no means is this election a done deal and as always we're watching and supportive of the efforts of young people getting involved and hoping to create change in local politics.

These people like Miles, Lowe, Freedom, and all the rest don't represent diddly and in the last election the TOTAL votes in the 3rd District were a grand total of 5000.

I knew him from when I worked at the Courthouse. Can't speak to his qualifications for Sheriff but he was a good guy. Very personable. Kind to everyone. Seemed very bright and had a lot of energy. I wish him well.

ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about Mr. Littlejohn or his qualifications - he may have great potential or he may not. What I DO know is, Sheriff Sharp has done an impressive job of modernizing the Jackson County Sheriff's Dept, and improving the quality of service to the citizens of Jackson County. I think it would be a shame to toss out a proven, high-quality leader for an untested one.

ReplyDeleteThe real question any one should ask is, who is going to truly uphold the Constitution a Sheriff Sharp or Littlejohn? The sheriff is the supreme law of the land in any county and they have the power to supersede federal government officials. Whichever candidate is willing to uphold the Constitution and the rights of residents in Jackson County is the one I will vote for.

There is a Independence Police Report concerning a 2008 Domestic Violence call that will force the Sheriff out of the race before the Fourth of July.

If you dig deeper into his so called accomplishments, you will see that he has coasted most of his term doing very little to serve or protect our community. Dwon Littlejohn knows the pulse of the community and will bring the department's resources to bear on the most crucial areas of crime reduction that our communities so drastically need.
