Dear Community Leaders, Partners, and Colleagues –
Last night I submitted my resignation as Chief of Staff of the Kansas City Public Schools to Interim Superintendent Green and the members of the KCPS Board of Education. The decision to tender my resignation was extremely difficult; however, it is time that I explore new opportunities and avenues for leading educational change and driving efforts to guarantee every child is provided a quality education. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working for the students of KCPS and consider it an extremely positive and rewarding experience.
As your support and involvement with the students of the KCPS has been instrumental to our success and growth over the last two years, it was only prudent that I reach out to you and say thank you as I transition away from the district. Thank you for all you have done for KCPS students and thank you for your support of the Superintendent and the Senior Leadership Team as we made difficult but positive and impactful decisions regarding the future of education in Kansas City. As your efforts were essential to our success over the last two years, they will be just as crucial as we – as a KCPS community - move forward in our quest to continually improve education in Kansas City.
As Kansas City is my home and I care deeply for this community, I will continue to champion and support the efforts taking place in KCPS. It will simply be as a member of the community rather than as an employee. I look forward to working with each of you in the future.
