Kansas City's Mayor recently visited the Primitivo Garcia School and read a depressing story to the students. Check his post on the subject:
Holiday musings of a new mayor
I'm not sure he ever planned on being "Kansas City's Education Mayor" but that seems to be the direction his Administration is headed in the upcoming year. Still and as always Mayor Sly's thoughts on his political life in this cowtown are worth consideration.
If a community doesn't have some degree of safety, decent streets, reliable utilities, good schools, and a common sense way of paying for those basic services, it's not going to be an attractive place to live, work and do buisness, and will deteriorate over time.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Sly's the first KCMO politico who actually realizes that building a decent foundation in the city won't get him awards from the Chamber of Commerce, will make enemies of the hand-out gang in the minority communities, and won't get anything named after him, but is what municipal government is really all about.
Too early to tell, but you never know!
You little niggas gonna be stupid for a very long time!
ReplyDeleteHe's reading the new bedtime Christmas Story to the kids, about how Santa Claus was murdered in Kansas City.
