Im not sure what slight the police or public have endured over this. The school reported it to the police. The girl or her sister didnt call them. Sounds like she didnt want to be found. It's not against the law to lie to your family. The whole story was a non story, forced into being reported as a story, lest some one, some where, become offended by the disparity in media reporting when the person isnt white, or christian, or straight, or whatever. Of course, it was all for nothing, because people found a way to be offended anyway.

ReplyDeleteI am glad that she is OK. Shame on her for not reporting to the OP police, they would have been pledged not to reveal where she was. But I am not going to judge her because I have not been in her shoes.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am not necessarily against arranged marriages (I know couples who did it and are very happy), if she was not willing, she should not have had to do it, especially at 19.
I am a mother and mother-in-law, and if either of our children came to us and said they wanted a divorce, I would file for custody of our son-in-law and daughter-in-law, and they both married for love.
I think the best thing now is to make sure that she is in a safe place and not forced to marry against her will. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, and we need to make sure that nobody is intimidating her to do something against her will.

She prob. got tired of being raped every night in her arranged marriage. The OPPD should investigate how much money the 2 Khan families exchanged to sell her off; there's probably a real crime there.
