Explaining The Bad JoCo Bus Shoulder Idea

I think we've linked this video previously but another bad ideas from The Golden Ghetto is soon to take hold:

The JO Xpress - Johnson County Transit (JCT) launches Bus On Shoulder (BOS) service on I-35

The Star is calling it a "new era" but they're using the same old fossil fuels to transport an infinitesimally small number of commuters vs. the rest of traffic.

JOCO funds its bus service using Federal money it receives through the KCATA. Sometime in the past, JOCO struck a deal that gives it three times as much money as it deserves. There should be an investigation and prosecution. JOCO is involved in an on going fraud.

  2. 7:55 is correct...it is the branch of goverment that pushes bike lanes, no yard waste trash pick up and charter schools...ideology over practicality...all being run by high salaried desk jockeys...

  3. Why does JOCO get all that Federal money? The ridership figures just do not support it. There are riders in KCMO that would benefit from those funds being used here.

What do they even use that money for in JOCO because it is certainly not buses.

    There should be an audit.

  4. I seem to remember a few years ago when Johnson County Med-Act drivers was told not to drive down the shoulder of the highway to a call. As well I notice that KHP units don't do it either so one has to ask how come it's all of a sudden a great idea for a bus to be weaving in and out of traffic?

To me it is a stupid idea those shoulders are to narrow for this kind of stunt.
