Corrections & Considerations Regarding The Rumored Recall Effort Against 6th District Councilman John Sharp!!!

Make no mistake . . . There are some very powerful people who are none too pleased with Councilman Sharp for his involvement in the Redistricting debate.
And this is no retraction . . . There is VERY REAL talk of a recall . . .
But there are two things to consider . . .
SOME OF THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE IN KANSAS CITY STRONGLY DOUBT THAT THERE'S ANY WAY TO REMOVE AN ELECTED OFFICIAL AT CITY HALL WITHOUT A PETITION INITIATIVE!!!
We reported they're trying as much . . . And certainly City Hall is always a happy, fun place for lawsuits . . . But the charter rules are pretty clear and (for what it's worth) city attorneys have weighed in on this one behind the scenes.
And this is new . . .
If there is a recall against Councilman Sharp . . . IT HAS TO TAKE PLACE AMONG THE RESIDENTS OF OLD DISTRICT AND VOTERS FROM THE NEW LINES DON'T GET TO SIGN ANY RECALL PETITION . . .
Real talk . . . This might have been more of a "shot across the bow" for Councilman Sharp.
But consider . . .

Termed out . . . Councilman Sharp doesn't really have a lot to lose.
While he hasn't made any friends among power brokers . . . He does have a strong base of support in South KC that has supported him over years and decades.
To wit . . . Taking on Councilman Sharp wouldn't be a cakewalk.
What's more likely is that the Councilman might find light a bit tougher on the Council in the next few weeks and months . . . Ironically, that might be the case for all of the Council people and the Mayor now that the honeymoon is COMPLETELY over and the contentious biz of City Hall is in full swing.
DEVELOPING . . .
There's no more sure-fire way for "powerful" people to make themselves look silly and show just how little influence they really have than to huff and puff and threaten to do things that never happen...over and over again.
ReplyDeleteNo one's ever even heard of most of these homes association folks beyond two blocks from their houses. If they worked harder for the city's success instead of parading around like they're a part of the Reniassance Festival, we'd all be alot better off.
True statement.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, it's also true that Sharp is a malevolent, insufferable ass; and that the City would be better off if he were not a Council member.
The Mayor needs to remove Sharp from being a chairperson of a commmittee. As everyone has seen Sharp is only interested in himself.
ReplyDeleteThank you John for standing up for us! If they had cut up the 3rd the 5th or the new Hispanic 4th district like they did our district every Reverend, "community activist", and silly white liberal would have been out there with speeches and candles singing we shall over come and each shitty council member would have out there shouting racism, wtf when its done to white though its all good. Go figure, just shut up and pay the e-tax while the blacks and brownies continue to run this city into the ground.
ReplyDeleteSharp sucks and so does your mom
ReplyDeleteIf anyone needs a recall it is Jan Marcason. Say what you will about John Sharp, he at least engages his consitituents when it comes to important issues. Marcason acts solely to benefit herself.
ReplyDeleteJan will be the next Mayor. Sly is one term.
ReplyDeleteTold you John Sharp would win.
ReplyDeleteJohn Sharp won by a landslide. His district voted him in by an enormous margin. He really hasn't done anything to be recalled. Therefore honestly speaking isn't recalling this guy a crossing the line of our democracy?
ReplyDeleteJohn Sharp is the worst of the worst. He pretends to be a voice for south KC but he's just lining his own pockets or preparing to line them when he goes back to the private sector.
ReplyDeleteSharp is building up an empire in anticipation of keeping power behind the scenes. He's endorsed and supported loosers Jason Holzman state rep candidate in the new 37th and Bonnaye Mimms who has lost support in the black community for her support of Sharps's re-districting plan. Mimms is moving out of her old district so she can run in her new one.Rumor has it she will be heavily backed by Sharp. Also, is there a romantic interest or tie there? True lOVE OR JUST POLITICS?
ReplyDeleteSince John Sharp only dates black women, it is conceivable that he is sweet on Bonnaye, but I think it's just power and politics, not romance, that binds these two losers together.
ReplyDeleteSharp did raise a lot of money in his re-election bid. He'll probably find a way to steal from that kitty to live when his council term is over. Who in their right mind would hire this ugly, nasty old man who destroyed MAST and works hard to screw the city every day of his life?
Can I offer you some onions with all those liver spots?
