TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! NAIVE OCCUPIERS NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT KANSAS CITY LOVES THE 1%!!!

In other cities the violence against the "Occupy Movement" is widely and rightfully regarded as abhorrent.

However, in Kansas City our pathological politeness and apathy have pretty much caused the Occupy KC movement to fizzle or become so bound to political correctness that their message is muted to nothing more than a whimper.

As of yet the Occupy KC movement has failed to develop any call to action specific to Kansas City so that supporters can do little more to further their cause than carry signs, chant slogans, play hackey sack or maybe skulk around a drum circle.

It's a leaderless movement and in Kansas City it's a movement without any teeth.

TKC EXCLUSIVE: MOST KANSAS CITY LEADERS EXPECT THAT THE COLD WILL INEVITABLY KILL THE LOCAL OCCUPY PROTEST!!! IT'S A FACT THAT NOBODY IS GOING TO BE OUTSIDE IN JANUARY FOR VERY LONG!!!

Another quick factoid . . . This really objective article regarding Conservative complaints and the threat of Anti-Semitism in the Occupy Wall St. Protest is also worth a look and debunks that accusation for the most part.

But what's really important this morning is this . . .

KANSAS CITY LOVES THE 1% AND ALL THEY DO FOR THIS COWTOWN!!!

Don't worry, I have examples . . .

Kansas City couldn't heap enough praise on K-PAC and the Kauffman Family for their contribution to local life. Without a doubt their philanthropy and dedication to Kansas City has served as an example to everyone. In fact, K-PAC and the monument to the local super-rich earned so much praise that there was little mention that KC Taxpayers actually subsidized the EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE parking lot on which it's all built.

Let's not forget that the Bloch family stays winning with all of their good work. Example UMKC recently received a $32 million gift from Henry Bloch.

It would be sacrilege to protest this family that's helped build Kansas City. Seriously, I'm not kidding.

And let's not forget the Kemper clan . . . Kansas City loves this rich banking family so much that nobody bothered to call out their latest dumb idea to put a taxpayer subsidized building over a structure that Kansas City still struggles to finance. Nobody's protesting the Kempers because they represent a rather classy brand of Kansas City elitism that so many hope to attain.

So what have we learned?

YOU'RE NOBODY IN KANSAS CITY IF YOU DON'T HAVE AT LEAST TWO BUILDINGS THE FEATURE YOUR FAMILY NAME!!! SO SHUT UP IF THAT'S NOT THE CASE!!!

Also . . . It's easy to protest imaginary enemies in faraway places but when it comes to the super-rich living within shouting distance right here in River City . . . Kansas City has almost unbridled love and admiration for the 1% and very often (whether you like it or not) that feeling is well-deserved.

  1. You forgot Nutter. KC politicians love his money.

  2. Hippies, freaks and slackers. To say these people represent "99%" of the country is utter bullshit.

The one percent are going to be nice to us. Really! We .... er ... I mean they are some of the nicest people and they want to take care of our stray animals and stuff. You should ...er ... we should all obey our overlords.

  4. You would think that Kemper would be able to afford alterations on those trousers that are WAY too long.

  5. It'snot so much that we love the 1%, it's just that we keep electing people who let them run the city and take all our tax money while the city goes to hell in a handbasket.
Hotels over police protection; convention centers over housing programs; parking garages over decent streets.
Pretty soon they'll need walls to protect it all.

  8. Its hard to cover the news from your basement, isn't it Tony? You should come by.

It's not leaderless, and most of those involved have jobs. I didn't say most of those CAMPING have jobs, however. But there's an increasing well organized group of people, many professionals who have more skills than you do, working in the movement here.

I"m just so amazed that when you want to promote an event, you do, and when you don't, you rip and rip and never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

You come across as a wannabe one percenter my friend...except you don't wear it as well as they do. That's too bad, for you're part of the 99. Were it not for mom, you'd be camping too, wouldn't you?

Tony, didn't you mean to write "all the 1% have DONE to this town"?

MSM does not have a clue what is going on whether it be Faux News or the NY Times.

The Times has lamented how come there are no great protest songs from this movement. Well I guess they take their (also) bought-and-paid based on listening to Clear Channel and other corporatist companies.

The movement has little use for the MSM. Read and learn. If you truly believe it is the Dead Tree Media, you need to understand when they are angry because their view is unfounded and unresearched.

What do the MSM and Tony have in common? They rarely venture outside their four-walls to investigate.

  10. He's Slanderella, dude, that's what he does. Deceit and bitterness in a little package of hate.

Can't drag the Kempers and the Blochs through the mud? Get them a little dusty.

    But they are above reproach.

Hey, how about renaming the ORI at Occupy 'Botello's Butt Hut'. Then he's halfway there to being a bonafide KC 1%er.

Tony I would say that the post on Gone Mild regarding the "Zombie Lie" being spread by the defenders of the 1% deserves a post and link.

  20. I would tend to think that if "KC loves the 1%", that would be all the more reason to have and/or support the Occupy KC movement. Afterall, it wouldn't make sense to protest against those with similar beliefs, would it? Just a thought...

There a bunch of journalism schools with the name Annenberg attached to them. One of the 1% who is very often looked up well.

Unless you were one of those 12-year-old boys who Moe Annenberg had beaten because they were competition to his news stands.

The philanthropy of these folks is fueled more often than not by the thuggery and lawlessness of the way the families made their money.

Kaufmann gets an asterisk by his name as he was first-generation 1%.

Byron, better read up on your KC history and talk to a few folks who have lived here for a long time. Your brother and sil don't count.

  23. Meanwhile, ignorant bloggers need to realize that the "campaign contributions" that are now legal in Washington and across the country are what is buying our legislators, our legislation and so, our government and that that's what we're fighting. We're protesting that unfairness, that corruption so we can get the money out of our system.

What good are fema prison camps sitting empty? What good is all that militaristic training and equipment if there is no reason to crack down? People need to be sceptical about what is going on here.

  26. SOME of the people in the OKC movement understand about being inclusive of all people. Some don't. I have been involved with and frustrated by the OKC movement. I think we are all learning some things - if we're smart. As a middle-aged white woman from North of the River, I have felt unwanted in the OKC "movement." If I'm smart & I am, that just means I look at what I can learn from that and continue to ask how can I be helpful in ways I support. I don't "hate" the 1% - maybe that's one reason they think I'm an "infiltrator." I don't "hate" all corporations either. I'm vocal. I don't go along for popularity and I call bs when I see it. Maybe it's naive of me but I still believe we can find common ground - 1%er's (that made me laugh if you've ever know any real 1%er's), kids, middle-aged, all ethnicities, gender but we must be willing to listen to each other and to the things that make us bristle. I sometimes want to give up by just can't yet.

  29. Just keep patience, Kim. TOo many are looking at OKC through Tony's eyes and that couldn't be farther from the truth.

People need to learn how to work in diverse groups... that's an unnatural act because we're just so damned TRIBAL in our parochial attitudes.

  31. If you are going to make an example out of the Kempers, you probably should leave Crosby III alone. He quit the banking business and is now the head of the KCMO Library. And he's never been a fancy dresser. That's not his thing.
