TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! QUICK RECAP OF TONIGHT'S SPARSELY ATTENDED KANSAS CITY TOWN HALL TO FIGHT CRIME!!!!

We all know that in Kansas City Friday Night is for committing crime and not fighting it.

Nevertheless, I want to personally congratulate and thank everyone who attended tonight's town hall in order to prevent and curb local crime. I'd especially like to thank everyone who wasn't there in some sort of official capacity . . . All 8 of you.

Anyhoo . . . It certainly was an interesting conversation moderated BRILLIANTLY by KCPT's Nick Haines.

His questions were funny, insightful and captivating . . . He emphasized all night that he was a "servant" of the crowd but seriously . . . Most of these community crime meetings are depressing. More than anything else, he made it interesting.

The major topics of discussion on this story TKC TIPSTERS broke earlier in the week and now follow-up before anybody else in town  . . .

New KCPD Chief Darryl Forté spoke about his "Hot Spot" crime targeting program but ONCE AGAIN DIDN'T PROVIDE ANY REAL DETAILS . . . Noting that keeping secrets from criminals was motivation for such secrecy.

I wanted to assure the new KCPD Chief that there were no criminals listening in given that . . .

EVEN MAYOR SLY LAMENTED THAT AT LEAST HALF OF THE AUDIENCE WAS COMPRISED OF POLICE OFFICERS!!!

Additionally . . . I am really starting to think that "Mean" Jean Peters Baker is actually quite brilliant . . .

Tonight The Jackson County Prosecutor spoke of her effort to publicize the message that THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SNITCHING AND BEING A WITNESS!!!

Moderator Nick Haines noted that her predecessors had also done as much . . . She replied that it was time to have the conversation again.

A bit of hope . . . Ivanhoe Neighborhood leader Ms. Margret May touted the success of her neighborhood in fighting crime . . . Of all the panel, she is the only one who has a proven track record on the topic.

While I think the panel should have been publicized more, Councilman and Pastor Brooks emphasized . . . "This is a process. We want to maintain an ongoing conversation with all of the people who can help curb crime in our community."

Credit should go to Pastor Brooks for organizing the forum and taking the lead on the subject.

Tonight there weren't many people listening but TKC wanted to make sure to hear this conversation about crime and bring it to you d-bags first. Natch.

More on this story later, I'll probably sleep-in tomorrow morning so stay out of trouble . . . STAY TUNED!!!

  1. Stop saying "Natch" it's stupid.

  2. Maybe if the meeting had been better publicized more people would have come. The first announcement was on TKC and the only mention in the Star was at the end of an article today.
This was a great idea, but somebody really dropped the ball.

  4. City Hall could fuck up a sandwich. How do we expect them to fight crime?

  5. @8:15PM Poor planning. Why the heck did they choose Friday night out of all days to attend this town hall. Seems they would have had this thing on a Wednesday or Saturday; given most people are unwinding from the work week.

  13. Where was Alonzo Washington?

Oh that's right, he doesn't care about anything that won't get his face on TV, or get him rewards.

  15. This is like the Plaza Riot meetings
held at the Police Conference room, all talk and hot air. With no results.

  16. There was great attendance from those representing agencies, the moderator was TERRIBLE, he took up the people time, was not funny, nothing is funny about the situation of discussion, He screened out questions, who the hell gave him that right(don't tell me I don't want to know). One of the HOTTEST CRIME SPOTS in the city was posed in a question, but I guess BLACKFOLK, should only question about street crimes/black on black, and stuff like that...I sent my question in to Jean Baker, I am a SNITCH, I reported the killing at the BANNISTER FEDERAL WEAPONS COMPLEX, told her of a wanted inquiry into that complex, she has NEVER shown any concern , or contacted me to tell me I am barking up the wrong tree. CRIME IS CRIME, if a government agencies reports that they LIED to other government agencies about matters that would make people suffer and DIE...I KNOW IT IS A CRIME...I WANT JUSTICE I WANT THOSE PEOPLE IN COURT. How many citizens have died because of their lies. Jean Baker is disrepectful, she should get back with me, and the many people in this city that are waiting to give testimony...maybe they don't want blackfolk to report on THEIR CRIMINAL ACTS OF NEGLECT.
    Maurice Copeland
Blackfolk are not the only people committing crimes!

  17. It was a "fluff" meeting. It's "advertising" or a "sound byte"

Kansas City has meeting about crime.

It was just to get a headline while nothing is still being done.

  18. Margaret May's neighborhood is a ghetto where people get shot, thugs sell crack, dumpers dump, and pimps pimp. I was trying to do some positive community work over there last week and got run off at gun point by a crack dealer at a "vacant" house. Had to call the cops. Poor Ivanhoe.
