The challenge that the 3rd and 5th Districts have is that the residents are mostly gone or in the process of moving out. Each council district should have about 65,000 residents, whatever race they are. So the task of putting together "a black district" gets harder every year and what has passed for leadership in that part of town hasn't done a thing for the residents who actually live there for decades.
ReplyDeleteThe younger folks in the black community understand that they could be much better represented by serious competent councilmembers, regardless of race, but the old crowd is just too used to having its snout in the trough.
If the old gang is allowed to hang on until they finally die, there'll be even less left east of Troost than there is now. Please turn out the lights.
Council Dud Sharp has been making the 6th District look like the 3rd and 5th.
