THE TKC WEEKLY POWER RANKINGS!!!

Nobody in Kansas City is as strong as Rachel Aldana in workout gear . . . Still, it's important to note the cowtown power players this week.

Take a peek:

POLITICOS

1. Airick L. West - Left behind and now wants back in . . . He says he has been vindicated AND still wants to keep working on the KCMSD. EFFORT TO REINSTATE HIM FAILED IN TIE VOTE!!!

2. Kyle James - Don't you know who he is?

3. Arthur Benson - Another local who has undoubtedly shaped the KCMSD.

4. Dr. John Covington - No single person has done more to reveal the current state of the Kansas City, School District than the departing Superintendent.

5. Congressman Emanuel Cleaver and the Kansas City Special Committee For Redistricting - Behind the scenes and in just a couple of meetings, a lot of people are giving the Congressman credit for directing the Kansas City Redistricting progress. However, people who have watched the process also credit the Redistricting Committee for a kinder, gentler approach . . . At least until the public meetings start.

NEWSIES

1. Sloane Heller - Because she's so damn hot. Wanna know why she's more important than you? It's because she's hot. That is why. Stop asking.

2. Eric Burke - He objectively reported the details on the Kyle James punching allegation story that had the KC Mayor on edge all week.

3. Bonyen Lee - She wasn't afraid to pose the tough questions to Mayor Sly regarding the alleged antics of his son and stood up to Chief of Staff John McGurk giving her the cold shoulder despite the fact he's like twice her height.

4. Bottom Line Communications - Kansas City's Media Referee is doing important work and using his media power to help find a missing person.

5. Russ Ptacek - Kansas City's Investigative reporter of record.

THE MOST POWERFUL IRISH FEST ATTRACTIONS

1. Eddie Delahunt - That's Mr. Irish Fest to you . . . If you only check out one performer make sure it is this Kansas City Original Traditional Irish Music Singer.

2. The Kansas City Irish Fest Live Stream - New tech to broadcast Kansas City Irish Tradition to the world.

3. The Kansas City Irish Fest blog - All of the inside scoop on Irish Fest year round with some great detail on the people who bring us this celebration.

4. Irish Fest Flickr Gallery - Kansas City photogs, don't forget to tag your photos and the Irish Fest will "pull them" into a rather neat photo gallery thanks to one of the magical plug-ins from the Internets.

5. Scimeca Sausages - Little known fact that speaks to our Kansas City melting pot: Scimeca's Sausages are a KC Italian Classic and they happen to be the most popular food item at Irish Fest. If you're going to break your bout with veganism, this is probably the way to do it.

TKC Reminder . . . No, Kansas City Irish Fest didn't pay me for this list because I'm pretty sure Pat O'Neil hates me. Nevertheless, I still think this is one of the best, grassroots Kansas City festivals around and definitely one of the best ways to spend your labor day weekend in Kansas City.

As always, this list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people.

Comments

  1. I want to be a treadmill.

  2. Scimecas are the BEST. Especially the hot ones. Use some yellow label Bryants sauce and it's KC home BBQ heaven.

  3. Darla must not have kissed Tony's ass this week or she would have her usual place on his list of "newsies".

    ReplyDelete
  4. Ah, Landsberg's always going on and on about how worthless and unprofessional local media is. And then when he needs them, they're useful and important...

    ReplyDelete
  5. Oddly the Irish feel as though they've been slandered enough.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Rage Against The Old Bitch9/2/11, 9:58 PM

What about Dutch Newman who put on a strap on dildo and fucked the entire LGBT community by appointing former KC Teachers' Union Bitch Judy Morgan instead of a young woman with government experience who happens to be lesbian. Newman has opposed every qualified LGBT candidate who has ever run in her area, and has backed the LGBT equivalent of Uncle Toms.

The power of bigotry sucks, and not in a good way.

  7. awwwwww yeah.

  8. Well, at least Russ Ptacek is a good solid choice. The politicos are mostly jokes (right?) and we've never heard of the rest of the media crowd.
    TKC's D-List power players!

  9. Damn right they didn't pay you. If they did, they'd make sure you know how to spell "Scimeca."

    Embarrassing.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Irish fest blows. They can't pay anybody because nobody showed up.

    ReplyDelete
  11. 11:13 needs a fucking spelling lesson and a lesson on how to search the Internet.

I'm not embarrassed though, that's for pussies.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Doesn't Chris Hernandez get a spot for landing the Airick west interview. Granted the interview sucked and West really disappointed me, but that should rate in the top 5 for the week.

    ReplyDelete
  13. wrong again 12:34 - A really good crowd tonight. Tomorrow expect even more people.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wasn't it your mini-me Crispin that motioned to re-instate Airick?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think Landsberg does a great job talking about the news media in this cowtown. The media certainly isn't going to report on itself.
I've always found him to be fair with his criticism.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I've got your fatboy Scimeca right here swinging.

  17. Dutch has been a bigot her entire life, so her recent war against the LGBT community is not surprising. Dutch tried to fight integration of the races at every turn, from what my great uncle tells me.

In addition, I have talked to some LGBT activists in KC who are pissed off at how she treats our community.

She does pick out a few Uncle Tom type Gays to try to hide her bias- but they all have a dark history that would embarrass the LGBT community. She shoved a president of the 4 Freedoms Democratic Club out of line as an LGBT representative to the 2000 Demo Convention and put in a tired old drunk. In 2002 tried to embarrass the LGBT Community by putting up a state rep candidate with at least one suicide-lover (caused by the way he treated him in BDSM relationship) in his past. Dutch Newman did nothing to oppose the Anti-Marriage Amendment in 2004. She worked against Jolie Justus in 2006. Since then she has been trying to push John Comstock as a Gay Leader, and he has had nothing but trouble with the Missouri Ethics Commission. Furthermore, I am told that Comstock is a swim coach over in the Shawnee Mission East District, and of the Mission Marlins, and I am told that he takes changing pictures of his male swimmers and shows them to friends at parties. Dutch had Comstock register the the KCPRIDE Democratic Club and the Roger Gooden Committee as a means to raise money from labor and gullible gays for the soul purpose of splitting the LGBT community and enriching her own political operations on behalf of crooks like Henry Rizzo and Louie Wright. This year, Dutch Newman went all out to defeat highly qualified candidates for the Democratic Committee and the state legislature who happen to be Gay with the help of John Comstock.

The LGBT Community has had enough of Dutch Newman's crooked politics and hatred of Gay and Lesbian people.

Democratic Leaders need to understand that Dutch Newman's games are driving a wedge between the LGBT Community and the Democratic Party, which will break a bond that many people worked hard to create over the past 25 years. We have had enough.

  18. Losers include Arthur (I quit--no I don't, and I'll even put my arm around a Negro to get back in) Benson.

Airick can stay. Benson's gotta go.

I do not believe the pictures are changing room pictures but just harmless pictures of swimmers in their speedos. Cool it.

  20. Airick needs to go.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks for the love, Tony. And 12:34, we had 100,000 people last year and have never left a bill unpaid to anybody. What color is sky on your planet?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Airick quit his post as Prez not the board. Get it right. Dumb ass quit the post as prez now wants it back make up your mind your fucking retard.

    Yours Truly,

    "The Scholars"

  23. Benson on the board is a disastrous. He's a creep who quit and should stay gone. His attacks on West, blaming West for John "Benedict Arnold" Covington's departure, were low blows. Not surprising from an ass like Benson, because the guy lives on low blows. He needs to go.

  24. West needs to go9/4/11, 1:50 PM

E-mails obtained under the Missouri Open Records Act reveal tensions in the weeks prior to the resignation of John Covington.

The e-mails depict friction between School Board President Airick Leonard West, Superintendent John Covington, and board member Arthur Benson.

It escalates in July when Covington finds out about an e-mail to West from UMB Bank discussing a $250,000 loan commitment that had not been approved by the administration.

Covington's office writes West that it was the "administration's understanding that no line of credit would be taken out," citing "legal conflicts."

The conflict escalates when West forwarded an e-mail to Covington.

In it, an unidentified bidder on an a multi-million school contract advises West on "projects providing the lowest possible costs."

Covington e-mails back demanding "the name of the individual that sent the email" writing that type of direct contact with a bidder in the e-mail West "received is prohibited."

Then Benson enters the picture e-mailing West, saying "he senses a palpable tension and even antagonism" from West.

West responds copying Benson, the superintendent and all board members saying "just because you or the Superintendent don't always get what you want doesn't make it microcromanagement, antagonism, or other gloomy words". "That's part being a ten member team," West wrote.

In other e-mails West wrote: "I've been lenient." and "expect me to assert my authority."

West did not respond to our request to put the e-mails into context.

This was the district's first response to broad open records request made by NBC Action News.

A spokesman said more documents would be provided next week.

  25. The Truth about Demo-rats9/5/11, 7:36 AM

Wasn't it Democrat Jackson County Chair Steve Bough and Democrat Political Consultant/Lobbyist Kim Carlos who promoted West and ran a slate of idiots to give him a majority to become Bd Prez?

Now try to explain how Demo-rats support education? Just try!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Theresa Garza and Genaro Ruiz were also part of that effort to give West a majority.
