Imagine how many they could buy if they got rid of the stupid horse unit?
ReplyDeleteWhy does there always have to be a federal grant involved in "green" alternatives?
ReplyDeleteIf alternative fuels are so wonderful, why can't they make it in the marketplace without being propped up by our tax dollars?
Why should people all across the U.S. have to pay for Kansas City's police cars?
If they were serious about going "green" they would get rid of all the Take Home Police Cars. They are used for ball games, shopping, etc. That would really be a "green" alternative not to mention saving the Taxpayers a lot of money in wasted fuel costs, for non-essential personal use of public vehicles.
ReplyDelete9:19 is right on. I thought I was the only one who sees the taxpayer waste in take home cop cars.
ReplyDelete9:19 is probably the same type of person that would complain about increased response times on critical incidents when these people who work in an on-call capacity don't have take home cars. I don't work for the police department but have a job that requires me to have a take home car because of being on-call.
ReplyDeleteWhen is the last time you were called to work in the middle of your kid's ballgame or dance recital and had to leave instantly? Probably never, right? Ever thought of how having the take home car might actually be a sort of burden
on these people? Always having to drive separate from their families or having a back-up plan in the event of a call-out? But that's what they signed up to do. Not for their benefit, for yours.
Its the price you (and they) pay for a fast police response during a critical incident.
But I'm sure you'll disregard anything I've said that makes sense and resort to more complaining.
Well I guess we can add 12:10 to that list, too.
ReplyDelete1221, is dead on. I have friends who are on the tac team who when on call have had to get up go change in the restaurants bathroom and leave in the middle of meal to go handle a call to protect and serve all you who hate the police but sure do call as soon as your pussy ass is scared . Thank you KCPD for your hard work. Fuck all of you desk jockeys who talk shit behind a cops back but not to his or her face.
ReplyDelete9/15/11 12:21 PM
ReplyDeleteNice try but there has been no increase in response times. Just waste at the Taxpayer expense. Thats the INCREASE.
My pussy ass is not scared.
ReplyDeleteIm always packing.
who when on call have had to get up go change in the restaurants bathroom ........ was it the Capital Grille.
ReplyDelete12:38--
ReplyDeletePlease explain how magically there is not an increase in response time when someone would have to respond elsewhere first rather than responding directly to the scene? Seriously, enlighten me. Maybe show some facts to back this up.
1:06--
Wow, another Capital Grille joke. Yet those commanders have nothing to do with the issue being discussed.
Oh please! Cops show up after the crime is done about 98 percent of the time. So, WTF is all this BS about response time? The only thing that is usually needed is a paramedic or coroner and the city has screwed most of that up. When police do get on site ahead of time it is usually a block full of swat looking guys against some ginned up ass-hat and the family dog ends up dead.
ReplyDeleteAbout the only things the cops in this town are proactive about is lunch and speed traps. Some of you guys have been watching way too many 70's reruns of CHIPS ..gimme a break already.
Please explain to me where and what you mean by elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteThat could be anywhere. So what. Enlighten me.
Also enlighten me as to the cost benefit analysis hard numbers please.
Toothcomb details and numbers. Enlighten me.

ReplyDeleteWOW any ER nurse or doctor could make that claim. Except of course they are driving their private vehicles.
9/15/11 12:21 PM
ReplyDeleteAlways having to drive separate from their families or having a back-up plan in the event of a call-out?
Bull Shit.
I see Cops drive up in cop cars with the WHOLE family to little league games.

You need to quit smoking the crack stolen out of evidnece room.
2:05-- "When police do get on site ahead of time it is usually a block full of swat looking guys"
ReplyDeleteYeah who do you think are the ones driving those take home cars? And thanks for reinforcing the fact that they provide faster response time.
2:07--
ReplyDeleteYou're going to try to determine value of human life in a cost/benefit analysis? Ignorance at its best.
2:07 & 2:08 (same person)
ReplyDeleteWow, way to avoid answering by deflection. Still haven't seen you provide information regarding how taking away the cars doesn't increase response time.
And 2:34, that is what is meant by "back-up plan". That is, your family figuring out how to get home once you've been called out.
And you answered the question .. How
ReplyDeleteLOL.
Please explain HOW it increases response time. Details and studies please.
I get it.
ReplyDeleteHaving take home cars has paid off so well that Kansas City is third most dangerous City in the USA.
WOW.
Boy those take home cars sure pay off.
Further discussion on this topic would touch on issues that the general public doesn't need to know about. And, no, just because you're a taxpayer doesn't mean you get privilege to sensitive information. If you would like to become privy to the intricacies of police operations, then I suggest you apply for a job with the department. Though you may disagree, its not too different from a company in the private sector not releasing classified information. There are just some things that have to be left to those in law enforcement--not civilians. Sorry but that's the way it is.
ReplyDeleteAnd before you come back with the theory of the police dept being a public entity which is funded by the public so it is your right to know--just remember, it isn't. You probably don't have insider information regarding operations of the FBI or CIA either, right? No, because as a civilian you aren't privy to certain information.
Again sorry, but that's the way it is.
2:56--Yet you still haven't answered either. And refer to the 3:00pm comment above for your details and studies.
ReplyDelete9/15/11 3:02 PM
ReplyDeleteAnd your point is YOU dont have an answer. LOL. WOW KCPD clueless again.
get privilege to sensitive information.
ReplyDeleteRight along with UFOs and Big foot.
job with the department....
ReplyDeleteI had a job at KCPD but it was so dishonest I quit. GET IT.

ReplyDeleteYou are so full of shit.
You sound like Hitlers Night and Fog program.

Sucks to be on the outside doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteIf the city were really interested in cutting out wasteful spending, it would reduce some of the overstaffing within KCFD. Talk about a total waste of money! KCFD union members do nothing but sit around the station watching porn and playing on their computers.
ReplyDelete9/15/11 5:46 PM
ReplyDeleteNO the pay and benefits are better.
Then stop bitching.
ReplyDeleteGetting Chief Corwin out the door will big a huge lift to the morale of the department, as he has been an open sore for the city and the department for a long time. His last obscene gesture to us all happens tomorrow, when, against the backdrop of misusing public funds at the Capital Grille, he is throwing himself an invitation-only dinner party in the police academy gymnasium following his formal retirement ceremony, and its being paid for with…you guessed it, public funds from the police budget. Approximately $2000 to be exact. What’s more telling of his popularity on the PD is that most of the guests are not department members, he’s even inviting old high school buddies, those who still might be impressed by the cool uniform and not notice the type of man underneath
ReplyDelete9/15/11 8:46 PM
ReplyDeleteLOL sounds like the pd is a great place to work.
Comment #1:
ReplyDeleteThe horse unit is paid for by private donations.
Natural gas fuel for these cars is $1.20 a gallon right now. The going rate for gasoline is $3.50 a gallon.
It doesn't take long to start saving quite a lot of money on these cars when you take into account the $2.30 per gallon fuel differential.
6:27 must be another former fat MAST employee who is mad about merging with the fire department. Just because you are fat and ugly and none of the firefighters flirt with you and yet they continue to flirt with the hot ones, doesn't mean you can bash KCFD. Lose some weight and wash your hair and maybe someone will talk to you. Until then, keep going to Quik Trip and buying your flaming hot cheetos and sit your lazy fat ass in your ambulance and complain about the cute medics and emt's! Firefighters are embarrassed that you wear the KCFD shirt, with your sloppy muffin top hanging over your belt line. Lose weight fatty!
ReplyDelete9:47...reinforcing what everyone thinks about firefighters.
ReplyDelete8:53--It actually is if you can get past the part where everyone takes you for granted until they're the ones who need your help.
