And now we start to doing it ALL OVER AGAIN . . .
Wait and listen for . . .
Renewed promises of community cooperation.
Developing an equitable selection process for the new Superintendent with participation from all of Kansas City's diverse communities.
Even more pledges of cooperation among the School Board and dedication to their plan (???) to improve KC Schools. (Important point, during the time Dr. Covington had a cheering section for the hatchet job he was doing . . . Test scores DROPPED.)
Oh yeah, and during all of this there will probably be a few more hugs and forced smiles . . .
Sadly . . .
KANSAS CITY HAS HEARD THIS SAME SONG AND DANCE REGARDING THE FAILING SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR MORE THAN A GENERATION!!!
Another thought . . .
AS WELL AS BLAMING POLITICOS, MAYBE IT'S TIME TO START TAKING THE LOCAL ELECTORATE TO TASK FOR FAILING TO DO ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT TO PREVENT SO MANY DECADES OF DECLINE!!!
IT'S MORE THAN LIKELY THAT KANSAS CITY'S CRAPPY VOTERS DESERVE THE FAILED SCHOOL SYSTEM THEY'RE GETTING!!!
Dr. Covington's Kansas City supporters now look ridiculous in retrospect and that includes quite a few members of the School Board. What's tragic here is that Kansas City is going to forget all of this in just a few weeks and accept THE SAME OLD PROMISES yet again.
And stop waiting for The State Of Missouri to step in . . . Word is they don't want any part of this disaster because it's too expensive and there really isn't any hope of creating a beneficial outcome.
In the end, the solution to this problem rests with Kansas City. Rather than casting blame at volunteers and aspiring politicos (which is fun too) . . . It's probably time to look at Kansas City voters and start holding them accountable for the disaster that has taken place on their watch.

When tony gets on these red capitalized rants, I skip past them. I find them too wordy and too hard to read.
ReplyDeleteYeah for the comments where the good stuff is.
Covington pulled the ultimate dick move and he pulled it off flawlessly. This is the equivalent of a good revenge movie. Covington screwed over a lot of people, ruined a few people lives and left with a better job, more money and no repercussions on him. Brilliant move.
ReplyDeleteIs he going to take Arthur Benson with him, oh please, please, please?
ReplyDeleteIs the CFO, Rebecca Lee Gwin, heading to Cleveland (OH)? The team is quiet, but the departures are not over. Do your homework KC.
ReplyDeleteTaking benson off the BOE is dumbing down the board to the level of the scholars themselves.
ReplyDeleteRadioman: You are joking, right?
ReplyDeleteNOT really...have you actually LOOKED at that board? Listened to them talk? Makes you wonder how they got elected!
ReplyDeleteBenson's outnumbered by stupidity. And the cornrow dropout? OMFG!
Radioman - quite obvious you have never met nor heard most of the BOE. So STFU! Your ignorance knows no bounds. SMH.
ReplyDeleteHey, Dickhead: Nothing Covington could have done would have improved test scores after just a little more than two years. Even if they'd gone up, I wouldn't be giving him credit for it. This is external, not internal.
ReplyDeleteTest scores don't suck because the school system is lousy. Test scores suck because the district is populated by too many people who don't give a damn about their kids' capacity for learning and don't prepare them for school BEFORE the school years start. Education isn't seen as a way out, but as a sell-out.
Fix the families in KC, and all the other problems that TKC laments--the shootings, the stabbings, the poverty, the black incarceration rate, the perceived racism--all of it addresses itself.
The bullshit about test scores and per-pupil student funding is all a distraction from the REAL cause of the district's failures. And they have nothing to do with the leadership or the funding. Anybody who cites those factors first lacks either the capacity for rational thought or the ability to make an intellectually honest argument.
We now return Tony to his regular program of jerking off to images of Jordan Carver . . .
For those of us that have had to deal with Covington for the past two years on behalf of administrators and teachers, his duplicity in looking Benson in the eye and denying that he's leaving for another job is predictable, not a surprise. Likewise for Covington looking for another job. How could the Board be oblivious to this when the AFT and the KCSAA labor organizations have know this for over a year? The Board was complicit in Covinton's unlawful treatment of the AFT and KCSAA and every one of them who supported those unlawful actions should resign!Mark G. Flaherty
ReplyDeleteBenson is a snake. Now he's a stupid-looking snake. Or ugly, take your pick.
ReplyDeleteBenson looked ridiculous before Covington left. Now if we could get Benson to leave town, we'd be 2-0.
ReplyDeleteTake the time to read the emails. Airick West is an arrogant fool. Seriously. TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE EMAILS and decide for yourself.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if somebody will check on airick.
ReplyDeleteAll egos, personalities, and childish games by the very adults who are counted on by the young people. And another generation of kids are lost in the KCMSD system.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you think the 20-somethings killing each other and the mobs wilding on the Plaza come from. We're producing another cohort of them every year.
What a tragedy.
