There is an ominous fact of life that has been circulating among Kansas City's political channels for quite some time:
Somebody is going to jail for Citadel Plaza.
Most Kansas City political insiders know the backstory and it involves MILLIONS of wasted dollars, COUNTLESS hours of City work devoted to a variety of projects for the site, EMBARRASSING environmental hazards that threaten the surrounding community.
And to this day . . . The place is still pretty much EMPTY.
Worse than that . . . It's a wasteland that's a reminder of so many broken Kansas City political promises.
So, TKC TIPSTERS are happy to reveal that this sordid story is soon to become part of the court record.
Where's the EDC?
ReplyDeleteYou gotta be kidding? Jail? No one's going to jail. The taxpayers are being taken to the cleaners on this mess (among others) but ain't no way buddies of Cleaver, Riley, et al are going to jail.

Terry Riley must be running scared. He was up to his eyeballs in that mess. But the luck of the Irish will probably keep him out of jail. Or was that just a bit of campaign deception?
ReplyDeleteTerry Riley and Cindy Circo are classic examples of why this town doesn't want or need local control of the police department. Both are amoung the legends of corrupt local politicians this town has had throughout history. Without a strong Mayor form of government, the police department will be broken into six different divisions, one for each council district, a la PIAC. That means the Council Reps will control the cops in their own district. Corruption would run amuck in this town!

Where is Doc Worley in all the hot mess?
ReplyDeleteIt appears that the people in the 5th district are far too patient. This eyesore has been a topic of the African American community for far too long. Where is our leadership to get this mess cleaned up and developed? At this point I don't care who is responsible. I simply want this wasteland dessert eradicated and for our city officials and Community Development Corporations (CDC's)to stop taking the African American community for granted. This blight could not happen in any community except the black community. Enough is enough!
