TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! TODAY'S PROPOSED RULE #16 AMENDMENT IS THE GREATEST CHALLENGE TO JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE SANDERS SO FAR!!!

After today, Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders can no longer legitimately call himself a "reformer" like he's been doing throughout the majority of his political career.
Today, under the radar of most local media, Jackson County legislators Theresa Garza Ruiz and Crystal Williams are going to steal a bit of momentum and the title of "reformer" from Mr. Sanders.
A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO RULE #16 IN THE JACKSON COUNTY CHARTER WOULD OFFER MORE TRANSPARENCY ALONG WITH GREATER CHECKS AND BALANCES FOR THE EXECUTIVE . . . AND IT MIGHT NOT MAKE IT OUT OF COMMITTEE TODAY!!!
Take a look at the legislation for yourself. Here's the most important part:
"A proposal for ordinance may be immediately added to the perfection agenda of the same meeting at which the proposal was introduced only if a motion for immediate perfection is carried. Passage of such a motion requires a two-thirds majority of those present and voting. If the ordinance appropriates funds, a motion for immediate perfection will be defeated by two “No” votes."
Any guesses on who those two votes might be?
AWESOME JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS tell us that the most important part of this legislation is that it's a direct challenge to the authority of Mike Sanders that puts him against an important reform effort that would bring about greater transparency. Normally, the County Executive makes sure those buzzwords work in his favor.
Luckily, The Rule Committee is stacked with Legislators more friendly to Mr. Sanders and this suggested change will probably die a quick death . . .
But, for the first time Legislators Garza Ruiz and Williams seem to be doing something more substantial than just attending campaign victory parties.
In fact, this is most likely a sign of things to come as Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders faces even greater challenges from this duo.
UPDATE: There's an outside chance this might get out of Committee and onto the floor now that there is some publicity on it . . . Nice to see a KC Star columnist pick this one up as well.
