TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! MAYOR SLY WARNS OF THE HEAT BUT REMAINS SILENT REGARDING KANSAS CITY HOMICIDES!!!

There's a chance that things might cool down today but there's no doubt that this recent Kansas City summer heat wave has been deadly and dangerous.
Mayor Sly James has dutifully reminded Kansas City residents to look in on neighbors and protect themselves against the heat.
To wit, throughout the local blogosphere and among a great many people in the community . . . Check a growing sentiment and a recent e-mail sent my way:
"Our Mayor Sly James seems more concerned with warning people about the heat wave than talking about the KC murder rate. The heat will break eventually but for the past three years the murder rate continues to soar. It's time for our Mayor to focus on greater priorities."
With TV stations broadcasting weather reports at the top of their newscasts throughout the day . . . It's clear that Kansas City is well informed about the heat.
Meanwhile, the effect of Kansas City's tragically high homicide rate can be felt throughout every season and seems to have created a long-term impact on local life that is rarely addressed by Kansas City's elected officials and so far has been only briefly noted by Mayor Sly James.
Sly will speak up eventually Tony. You won't have to wait long.
ReplyDeleteMayor Sly is too busy hobknobing and raising money for his next campaign to worry about a few dead brothers. His staff is the rudest in recent history and that's if you are lucky enough to even get a return phone call.
ReplyDeleteI heard his COS was a high priced campaign operative. He may be good at that but he is no local elected COS. Same for some of his other staff.
Of course, their attitude and brick wall they've built between him and the voting public may be at his directive. Either way he will answer for it in 4 years.
Memo to Sly: Your honeymoon is over. Start serving the people and quit fundraising. If you do that, I will raise my glass of cheap Scotch to you.
Sly has a great opportunity to put public safety at the top of the city's agenda where it belongs. The police board is engaged as never before, there is some new leadership that's trying to make a difference on the east side, and we'll soon have a new police chief who should make community policing their number one priority.
ReplyDeleteThe bully pulpit is one of the most powerful and effective tools a KCMO mayor has at his disposal and rallying the whole city to work together to reduce the violence and homicides can make KCMO a better place for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Enough with the real estate deals. Let' tackle some actual municipal problems that only government, working with residents, can solve.
Sly is too busy selling City Hall to worry about Murder City.
ReplyDeleteHis staff is really ruining his reputation by making it hard almost impossible to reach him. It's a bad staff that is hurting him not the Mayor.
ReplyDeleteSO, who's not able to reach the mayor and for what?
ReplyDeleteWhat is he supposed to say?
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't Mr. Scotch Drinker keep a picture of his wife behind him?
ReplyDeleteHe released a statement today saying that he thought everybody understood, that his heat warnings ALSO included implied warnings against eastside nig noggery. He said that he thought it was common knowledge that when it gets above 85 degrees the shucking and jiving gene starts to get actively bajiggity.
ReplyDeleteCaint have no picture of wife behind him...she's white folk and now, how would that look? Anyhow, he's the King Of Kansas City (no thanks to Omaha, thanks alot) now and you can't touch him...nyah!
ReplyDeleteTony, you sound awfully frustrated about the homicide rate in KC...WHY don't you take a leadership role and do something other than BITCH!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you want the mayor to do? Strap on a gun and patrol the streets?
ReplyDeleteHe could start by using his position on the police board to hold some folks accountable for results. What else could be done to increase relationships between the KCPD and the black community? What other tactics should be implemented to at least try to do something about the fact that KCMO is the NINTH most dangerous city in the country?
ReplyDeleteAll the TIFS, new hotels, and eco devo agencies in the world aren't going to do much for the city south of the river if we keep having at least two homicides every week of the year.
Let's hear how the council, mayor, police board, prosecutor, and others are going to commit to working together to take a much more rigorous and innovative approach to this high priority problem.
What does city government have to do with homicides? IT IS A PARENTING ISSUE. If you don't want to teach your kids right from wrong, then don't have 10 kids.
ReplyDeleteDarwin's law of natural selection is at work here.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly a parenting issue, but when perfectly innocent people are caught in the crossfire of thugs who weren't "parented" it becomes a public safety issue. And the most basic responsibility of any level of government is providing some level of safety.
ReplyDeleteWhy should regular folks have to hide behind barred windows in their own home because other parents allow their children to become gangsters and terrorists?
How i it OK to have to be concerned about being in places like Westport or mid-town because of gun violence? Why can't responsible parents have some level of confidence that their children won't be senselessly killed in a robbery or drive-by?
This happens all over the city and the longer the urban terrorists are allowed to roam unimpeded, the more it will spread.
It's way past time for official KCMO to get serious about meeting the most basic of their responsibilities.
A good police force can reduce all crime. But one mostly focused on raising revenue from traffic tickets and protecting their pensions and health insurance will not.
ReplyDeleteIf it were white women being murdered, I bet he'd swoop down like a hawk and save a few.
ReplyDeleteOnly if they were fat and blond.
ReplyDelete8:37 and 9:29--nice talk, but where's the beef? And the specific suggestions?
ReplyDeleteToo many cops downtown with office jobs. To may cops working on their personal businesses on city time. Sly needs to look at the police org charts real close instead of staffing up in public relations.
ReplyDeleteWill you FUCK TARDS pleeeeeaaaase SHUT THE FUCK UP about this ridiculous issue. The reason HE is the mayor is because he understands that TALK NEVER HAS and NEVER will end crime.
ReplyDeleteCan any one of you recall an instance where a speech or pacifying statement to douchebags had ANY effect on the cessation of criminal activity?! ONLY 18% percent of this city is registered to vote. Isn't that some sort of indictment on the individual choices being made in this town!!?
Should the mayor give a speech about poor grades, bad dressers, poor hygiene, bad attitudes, lack of intelligence,,etc. as well?! Will a Mayoral statement positively effect THOSE issues of free will as well.
You morons are part of the problem, which is why your solutions against crime always insist upon SOMEONE else merely TALKING. You're the same fuck sticks that bitch about global issues while half heartedly supporting our Marines and Soldiers from your laptops, IF you support them at all.
Last question. Have any of YOU ever done something even slightly illegal that could have been stopped by the Mayor or one of his statements?! Didn't fucking think so.
How many of you crusaders could pass the background check and other demands to join the police force?! Great!!! So get of your laptops, stop posting comments from your cubicles during work hours and put your bullshit COMMENTS into ACTION. You do KNOW what THAT is, right?
ReplyDeleteMany of the parol officers in KCMO do a great job, but they're put into unnecessarily dangerous positions because of the lack of strategy, leadership, and KCPD working with residents in the neighborhoods to at least try to develop some working relationships with the people who would very much like to have safer neighborhoods for themselves and their families.
ReplyDeleteAnd for 11:17am, specifically the KCPD could begin adopting, training for, and implementing a comprehensive community policing program as it is practiced in KCK. Much better community relations, a career path for officers who want to work with the community instead of occupying it, and a much higher homicide closure rate, because information flows regularly from residents to the PD.
The structure is in place, the operational manuals are written, and the experience is clear. All KCMO needs is some leadership and the courage to change the status quo, which currently allows over 100 homicides every year.
Can't get too much more specific than that.
9:42--You're a dipshit. Take some advice from 11:35 and nut up or shut up.
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly concerned about West Virginia.
ReplyDelete12:10 I lived in the inner city for years. The KCPD would only respond if someone was wounded or killed. Stolen cars, home burglaries, shots fired were a waste of their time. I encountered good officers, racist officers, and just lazy officers. But overall the attitude was we are here to give traffic tickets, don't bother us with crime. If the mayor simply came out and admitted the KCPD was ineffective it would force them to improve.
ReplyDelete11:33 Are you Mayor Sly's Chief of Staff?
ReplyDelete1:28, nope, I'm not. I'm just a RECON Marine combat veteran with real life experience and a willingness to get off my ass and get into the fight rather than bitch. For years, I've grown tired of the American Civilian mentality that social change comes from a fucking drive thru window. People die, people kill, people steal and rape. Mayors conduct political agendas and policy that takes years to come to fruition. Wanna do something about crime? Get off of your lazy civilian ass and head over to the east side tonight, armed with a safety vest, heroic attitude, and apparent resolution to the matter, and knock out crime as an individual. Tell me how that works out for you. I have personally dispatched enemy combatants, some were freaking kids, and guess what,,,I didn't win the war all by myself yet. were STILL fucking over there. You don't hear ME bitching about it on a blog site, asking the mayor to speak out about it. Whats stopping YOU from saving the planet Captain America?! Waiting on Slys statement allowing you to do so?
ReplyDelete128, are you the guy with the answer to crime? No? Well then you MUST be our lucky city's next Mayor, right? No? Okay, well then maybe your the hero that has the appropriate "crime fighting" speech all drafted and ready for presentation then right? No?!?! So then WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU?!? I'm confused. You're CLEARLY a heroic individual with a high level of resolve and commitment. So ill just sit back and watch criminal activity and mentallity dissolve because of you. No point in locking our doors tonight guys. Captain Anonymous and his side kick, Civvy-Bitch are patrolling the streets. Yaaaaayyyy. My hero!!
ReplyDeleteDamn, PTSD anyone?
ReplyDelete12:58--bullshit. Officers that work inner city could give a crap about handing out tickets. Only reason they're pulling over vehicles is to try to get guns or drugs out of it. If you've been given a ticket before, then I'm sorry but it happens. Doesn't mean that's what inner city cops are all about. The PD has a traffic unit that solely deals with handing out tickets. But you're not gonna see them working your neighborhood streets. They're mostly on the highways. So once again, just because you got a ticket once for breaking the law, don't lump all officers into that category.
ReplyDelete12:58--and as far as stolen cars go, its liberals (probably like you) and the media that have put an end to the PD being able to do much about that anymore. YOU and the media are the reasons why officers can't chase stolen vehicles anymore. Congratulations on enabling the offenders...
ReplyDelete1:45 is +1 for most memorable internet smack down of 2011. And 2010 too for that matter.
ReplyDeleteWow 324, you're clearly the same mastermind that posted at 128. Can you make it more apparent that you really don't have much to say?!? PTSD is a small price to pay for kicking ass for my country. I'd gladly do it again. People like you would be in a world of hurt if people like ME had to count on YOU to fight our country's battles.
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way. Care to tell the forum what you were doun while me and my team were getting shot at and generally kickin ass all over the A.O.O.?
Hey 407. Good on ya. However, can't take too much credit for spanking a snivelling bitch all over the place. They make it too easy for us bro.
ReplyDeleteBooooom!!! PTSD or no PTSD anon 3:24. It's a heck of a lot harder for me to ignore the comments of anon 1:45 than it is for you. or maybe not. I've got a sneaky suspicion you feel like you reeaally got your ass handed to you on that one. It doesn't appear that your "come back" won you any esteem in this forum.
ReplyDeleteDamn, run and hide, anyone?

LOL, 6:29!! And thanks for serving our country, 1:45 & 5:56 (same person I'm guessing).
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure 10:51!! Anytime. Sorry 'bout late response bro.
ReplyDelete6:29, Appreciate the fire support if you're still out there.
Congratulations. But, what exactly do you think you've done? There are no qualifications for speaking one's mind in a public forum. No one has to pass your test of manhood, or any other test that you can devise. Shouting everybody down is not the same as winning the argument because their is no winner in this kind of debate. The conversation will still continue even after you chase everyone from this room.
