Regarding Mayor Sly's controversial junket and allegedly spending taxpayer cash on pricey booze. KC Star columnist gives the Mayor a pass: "It's not clear if the alcohol would have been an allowable City Hall expense."

There's no question that Mayor Sly broke City Hall rules and regs if he gets reimbursed for his scotch . . . His only defense rests with credit card semantics . . . Very much like the one going on at the P&L District right now.

TKC reported yesterday that Sly James didn't ask for reimbursement for the alcohol, s there's no problem. He's free to have a drink as long as the city doesn't pay for it. Leave him alone--the All Star game is going to be great for KC.

I travel regularly on business and I charge everything on one bill and exclude any booze on my reimbursement paperwork when I turn it in. I'm sure the city has the usual format so he could turn in a receipt and exclude non allowable charges. Is that what happened? If so, this is no an issue. If not, he is using th old just a mistake excuse and should be held accountable because everyone knows you can't charge booze, especially an elected person, so you should be on high alert unless that $18/glass booze did the trick and you were hammered.
