Kansas City Snail Mail Office Shutdowns

AP reports that delivering dead tree media is becoming obsolete as well: "Four local post offices were among the more than 3,600 local offices, branches and stations on a list the United States Postal Service announced Tuesday that will be studied for possible closing."

The local post office locations on the list for review are:

1. Center Square, Kansas City, Missouri 64105
2. Civic Center, Kansas City, Missouri 64106
3. Hickman Mills, Kansas City, Missouri 64134
4. Aregentine, Kansas City, Kansas 66106

Four 'local' post offices were among the more than 3,600 'local' offices...

    That doesn't make sense

  2. It means branches or little towns where there is only one post office. They're not shutting the main KC post office, for example.

  4. I'm really surprised at finding the 64134 on this list. As best I can tell, that would leave south Kansas City with one post office in KC proper. (Feel free to correct me--and yes, stuff north of 87th street stretches the definition of "south" Kansas City...and yes, I know Grandview has a post office, 64030.)

  5. They would be wise to keep the Hickman Mills post office and close the Grandview one. on Main street. The GV Main street post office is not well run, employees, with one or two exceptions are RUDE to customers, and mail sent from one GV location to another GV location can take as much as 5 days to cross town.! I live in GV but alwys go to Hickman Mills or Martin City when I need a post office.

  6. Interestingly, overseas packages mailed from the Grandview post office arrive in less than a week. Those mailed from the Hickman Mills post office always take at least 10 days. I don't live in Grandview, but always mail packages from there. I think any place has rude employees. One or two at Hickman Mills have been a bit snippy.

  7. Why don't they just close all of them, no one under the age of 50 would even notice.
