CANDIDATES "OF COLOR" ARE THE MOST QUALIFIED IN THE CONTEST TO BECOME KANSAS CITY'S TOP COP!!!

Of course none of the candidates have the qualifications of Candice Swanepoel . . . But the application deadline for The Kansas City Chief Of Police job has passed and there are 54 candidates.

Despite all of the applications. . . THE FIRST TKC CONTENDER LIST OF TOP CANDIDATES remains pretty much the same . . .

1. Deputy Chief Darryl Forte - Politicos like him and supporters realize he's the best chance to assure Kansas City's 1st African-American Police Chief.

2. Deputy Chief Kevin Masters - Don't count him out, he's got more support in the community than any other applicant. Background chatter about a disciplinary matter is mostly bunk and pretty much reveals that he was at odds with Chief Corwin . . . That might be a good thing and something worth noting amid the damaging Capital Grille Scandal.

3. Retired deputy chief Vince Ortega and current COMBAT director - TKC broke news of his consideration of the job, now he's in and a rather formidable candidate.

What's clear is that there isn't much chance of an outside hire . . . Best of all, the leading and most qualified candidates are all people of color . . . Which is why the calls for an outside hire mostly come from anonymous comments.

  1. Once again Tony, you are wrong. The most qualified candidate is Deputy Chief Cy Ritter. But alas, he's white so I guess he automatically out of the question??

  2. Well of course they are....NOT!

  3. Leave it to Tony, the guy who blames everything in KC on racism, to point out the race of each candidate.

Most of us would otherwise have no idea what race any of these guys are and only care about the most qualified person getting the job.

  4. Bullshit.
If they hire from within Nothing will change at KCPD. It will be same stuff different day. If Kansas City really wants to lower the crime rate they will hire from the outside. Otherwise don't complain when nothing changes. Just have your candlelight vigils, community shock and outrage. But the crux is that is will be business as usual with nothing changing.

Anyone supporting or involved with COMBAT or DARE need to be considered tools of the present clusterfuck which is today's government.

Programs which funnel valuable resources to political cronies and guaranteeing overtime for police not involved in working the streets is just guaranteeing the same old same old.

An inhouse pick will continue the perpetual fail which are now standard practice for KC politics.

White people have been voting for white candidates hasn't worked out that well either now has it?

If the best candidate is black, that's great. But putting in a black man (why no women?) or Latino because of their skin pigmentation is wrong.

It is like throwing money at athe KCMOSD and thinking money alone will solve the problem..

    ReplyDelete
  6. Tony your wrong. Kevin masters is no where close to being a top pick. And he does have disciplinary stuff in his jacket.
It will be Forte and he will be a political puppet just like ole puss boy Jim. Who committed adultery while being the chief so I guess its ok to lie and cheat when your top dog. Way to lead by example CHIEF.

    ReplyDelete
  7. 7:30 is on the money Forte will get it and nothing will change inside KCPD. Local rule and an outside hire will be the only thing that eventually challenges the old guard. Until then expect to be disappointed.

  8. Corwin did nothing but give himself raises while at KCPD. Crime only went up under his watch. D- for poor performance.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Any black males over 45 wont understand the culture and wont be able to do shit!

    ReplyDelete
  10. A bullshit police department.
crime in kansas city has been on the rise for years. while in the rest of the usa it has declined.

  11. Why do so many people believe that an internal hire means nothing will change? In private industry, a new CEO, internally hired or not, will always brings new initiatives, and new ideas about how preformance of the company can be improved. Why do people assume that a new police chief would just maintain the status quo? If that is the case, the people doing the hiring should be shot for not doing their job. In every organization, there is always room for improvement. The new chief, should have a vision of how he will improve the performance of the department. I wouldn't jumpt to the conclusion that an internal candidate wouldn't change things. In fact, I suspect an internal candidate would have a better idea of what really needs improving, than an external candidate would have. So any needed changes are likely to occur more quickly with an internal candidate.

  12. 920 you completely wrong. The problem is internal. The problems won't fix if its a chief from within. The DOJ needs to investigate the PD. There is a lot of corruption going on within the pd . Lots of cover ups . Especially for the blacks . You got black commanders who are covering up for blacks . Hell they trying covering up the black sgt who robed the guy in raytown. And that sgt cheated at the sgt test but, it was covered up by black commanders .

Well your wrong even NASA hired from the outside for change. They hired Goldman form TRW as NASA director.
NASA needed a corporate culture change so they hired Goldman from TRW.

    Got anymore excuses?

  14. @ 9:35 - I posted the comments at 9:20 AM. I wasn't trying to make excuses, but rather pose a question. I will readily admit I don't know anything about the police department or the need for a cultural change like the one you described at NASA. I'm was just stating my observations and thoughts based on my experience in the private sector. However, allegations of wide spread cover-ups, while disconcerting, are noticably absent in the news media. When people post anonymous allegations on a blog it makes one wonder if they are nothing more than a smear campaign against one or all of the candidates.

  15. Whatever happened to candidates for this job who are of the caliber of Mr. McNamara or Mr. Kelley? All we get now are broken down niggers along the lines of Terry Riley, et al...Fuck you KC!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Whatever happened to candidates for this job who are of the caliber of Mr. McNamara?!? Someone needs a history lesson. Viva Captain Heinen!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Can't we all just get along? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  18. 953 its anonymous cause those of us employed by the pd wanna keep our jobs. Those allegations of cover ups are true. Very true. It's not in the news cause its a cover up. Believe me if the wrong Person gets crossed they will blow the whistle publicly on a lot of the shit that's goes on internaly .

  19. Cy doesn't have a chance. Nice try.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Does anyone know if Ritter even applied? Last I heard he had no interest in being the chief.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes. Let's hire a chief based on skin color.

    ReplyDelete
  22. NASA? Great, we use to have a space program.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Tony, Tony, Tony. Ya know I love ya and your blog.

But sometimes when you go overboard on this racial shit, it's sooo hard to support you. Sometimes you just act like a dork. Please stop it. Pretty please?

    ReplyDelete
  24. NASA!?! Yeah, that's what we need, a police chief who is a REAL rocket scientist!!! Let's hire the former NASA CEO, afterall, his programs we a model of efficiency.

  25. Who is that chick in the picture? BOOM

    ReplyDelete
  26. The mission statement for the KCPD - to raise revenue through traffic tickets, cooperate with non-profits to secure grants and to provide generous pay and benefits for its employees.

Anyone who would include controlling crime in that statement would not be considered for Chief.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You could a Nasa director from the 1960's and get better results than the current KCPD Chief.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 10:20 AM Someone needs a history lesson ..... yeah you. how many more years of internal hires and promotions do you need with the same inefficient results?

    ReplyDelete
  29. 1259 let me know where and when a chief said anything about generous pay or benefits for employees.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Let's all meet at the Capital Grille for steak and lobster and talk this over.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 7/26/11 2:59 PM
The generous pay or benefits went to Corwin not you or the patrol officers.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Who are the other 51 candidates and what are their qualifications and backgrounds?

    ReplyDelete
  33. The dept needs to release the names and qualifications of all the applicants . No way in Hell anyone from the current command staff is the most qualified of best for the job. But we all know they will not hire from the outside. It wouldn't benefit the current minorities who are commanders who are corrupt and doing unethical things . Ask any officer you see how the current commanders who run the violent crimes unit are. Or how certain majors who are minorities won't allow laws to be enforced cause it would look bad if those certain groups of people were arrested. That place meaning the PD is out of control and nothing is being. The black commanders on that dept are ghetto and have many many skeletons. East zone major is a racist. The others commit crimes and get it swept under the rug. Bet if any of us tried to get a family member on a river boat who is underage and we assaulted a State Trooper after getting caught we would be in jail . Not a certain commander .

    ReplyDelete
  34. KCPD hired from the inside for the HR managers job. An x-cop got the position. A former KCPD major. The HR department at KCPD has gone to hell ever since, Ask why. The good ole boy network. And now they want a insider for KCPD Chief. Why, so KCPD can continue it's trend of poor performance??????

    ReplyDelete
  35. Corwin is a rollover political pussy.

    ReplyDelete
  36. KCPD could care less about public safety they would rather be politically correct than to hire the right person for the job. KCPD is a political sell out police department.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow! The FOP trolls are online today!!! Just look at all the comments calling for an external candidate, and local control. Big surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Rick Armstrong.

    ReplyDelete
  39. KCPD's morale is in the shithole.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Raleigh Police Sergeant Rick Armstong? Yeah, he would be a great hire! No baggage there. Good call.

    ReplyDelete
  41. An outside candidate might not think the level of violence is acceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Byron does anyone think the level of violence is acceptable?

  43. Try looking a little closer to home, 8:36.
