The Art Of Pizza And Patricia & Vic

Restaurant reviews aren't my bag but my knowledge of great pizza places in Kansas City is pretty much encyclopedic. To wit . . .

ART OF PIZZA IN THE CROSSROADS HAS THE MOST KICK-ASS PIZZA CRUST IN ALL OF KANSAS CITY!!!

Like most things, I discovered this fact almost completely by accident.

Wandering away from my beloved Westside, I decided to walk into Art Of Pizza yesterday afternoon . . . I ordered the Italian Sandwich . . . Which is pretty damn good too.

Anyhoo, the owner Vic Almo was at the register doing something when a friend introduced us from across the restaurant . . . Surprisingly, he knew about the blog. A few moments later, he called my way . . .

"Did you have the pizza?"

One of the waitresses answers and tells him that I ordered a sandwich and that it was my first time in the place.

"You have to try the pizza, it's called The Art of Pizza. Not the art of the sandwich."

With that, I gave a slice of pepperoni pizza a try and was AMAZINGLY impressed with the whole thing . . . However, it was the pizza crust I noticed that was SO MUCH better than anything else you're going to find in Kansas City.

Hot, right out of the oven . . . The pizza crust was delicious, tasty with probably the perfect texture composition between crispy on the outside and soft bread on the inside.

Leaving the place, I stop chat of for just a moment with Vic and waitress Patricia (photo above) about the recent closing in Westport.

"I'm really not a Westport guy and the 100 hour work week was just too much." Mr. Almo said. He says that the restaurant in Westport had finally moved slightly past the break even point but the hours required to manage both places were simply too cumbersome.

The Crossroads Art Of Pizza Location seems to keep Vic busy.

"We have a tremendous crowd on First Friday that nearly covers all of our expenses and keeps us very busy," Mr. Almo said. "This place is solid and right now that's where I want to focus."

Again, my first visit was definitely noteworthy despite my stupid instinct to order a sammy and now I know that the pizza is definitely worth a return trip.

  18. If you're going to take money for advertisements at least acknowledge when you're shilling for some shithole like this pizza place and that shitty photographer that you're always raving about. You gotta make a living too but at least quit pretending you really like this nonsense and say you're getting paid. Weak.

You guys overestimate Tony. Do you really think anybody is going to pay for a blog post? Would you?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Vic didn't mention that his employees really ran the Westport store and he abused them so bad that they just all basically quit at the same time? That's odd.

  22. It's good pizza. Their cheesesteak is good too.

    ReplyDelete
  23. No queston this a good piece of pie! But the time frame of getting your pie stinks. Sometimes it is quick and others times it takes forever. No matter how many people in the place.
