Or, when your daughter just happens to go under the lake water while swimming and disappears for a while, make sure you know it's a firefighter that jumped in after her to risk his or her life to get her. Most of you anonymous writers wouldn't have the guts to do what we do. Yes, we get our down time but when that one call for one of your loved ones comes in, remember that it's a firefighter that will be there first to save him or her. You couldn't bear to see what we see on a daily basis. We do our jobs with the utmost professionalism as possible. We actually care for people that we do not know, unlike you, who could just wipe their feet on a person that has a heart attack in front of you. ReplyDeleteGreg, I couldn't agree with you more. Most of the anonymous writers are the kids who got beat up when they were young and feel strong when they bash someone while remaining unknown. I think firemen kickass along with the paramedic people. They both have saved people in my family. I, however do work in an office and make pretty good money and think you guys deserve way more pay than you get, along with teachers, nurses, etc.. Stay strong in what you do and keep fighting the good fight. You, along with the military are in our thoughts and prayers every night. I couldn't do what you guys do. Everytime I hear the horn of a firetruck, I pray for you guys and the people you are going to save. My kids just adore the firefighters and it is such a noble profession. Firemen have families. Can firemen spend their time away from work with thier families? We drop what we do to answer the call, no matter what we are doing. I've eaten many cold meals to answer the call, even if it was nothing. That's our job and that's what we signed up for. We don't complain when we get awakened at all hours of the night. Could you handle that? Doubt it! I hope I don't wake you while you are nestled in bed at 4 in the morning while we are going to an emergency and our sirens are blaring as we go by your house.
