Today the Missouri GOP and powerless Democrats demonstrate that they don't care about the working poor . . .
Unemployment Benefits End in Missouri
The end of the safety net means a lot of things for the future of Missouri but only silly and misinformed people who don't understand Econ. 101 think that it will spark economic growth. This new age of austerity seems exceptionally cruel because it takes aim at the lowest income groups with little regret or consideration of the consequences.
Just another reason to move to Kansas.
ReplyDeleteThis will BACKFIRE on the republicans.
ReplyDeleteA year and a half??? Really?? Get off your lazy asses. It should end after 3 months... And start to go down after 1 month.
ReplyDelete"You know what?" said Rosemary Martin who is unemployed. "Take all the food that you've got in your kitchen out and see how desperate you get."
... YOU know what? Sell your flat screen TV and iPhone. THEN you can talk about food in the pantry. Oh yeah, eggs are $1 a dozen; look in the couch for loose change and feed your family for a day.
9PM Written like some one tempting the fates. If your luck changes, I would suspect your attitude will too. After all, life is very much about luck. You better hope yours doesn/t run out and you have to eat your ARROGANT attitude.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm. I believe the working poor are among those who have to pay for such things as the unemployment extension.
ReplyDeleteWashington spent all the tax money we sent them, and are hoping to borrow more. That simply has to stop, no matter what the purpose. Unfortunately, that hurts a lot of innocent people.
ReplyDeleteIf you think stopping these benefits is cruel, you cannot possibly imagine how much worse things could get if the USA is pushed into bankruptcy ... something we are very close to.
To Anonymous @ 9PM - My husband was on unemployment and searched hard for a job. He is well-educated and qualified and there just were no jobs. If we hadn't had unemployment extensions we'd have been out on the street. Show a little compassion for your fellow man. It can happen to anyone.
ReplyDelete9:00 your typical moron he assumes she has a flat screen TV and iPhone.
ReplyDeleteWhat an idiot.
ok if there are jobs in missouri then why is the unemployment still so hi get a freeking clue
ReplyDeleteFUCK YOU 9:00 PM!
ReplyDeleteYou are obviously from the austere Johnson County who hasn't the slightest bit of relation to victims of the recession. How dare you generalize all unemployed persons as merely lazy and foolishly spending their money. THERE IS SIMPLY NO WORK! Do you honestly believe an employer wants to fork out the pension and benefits to a 50 Y.O.+ applicant who has been recently laid off? OF COURSE NOT. BTW, this reply is from a WHITE college graduate from suburbia.
And fuck you for those supporting the GOP. I'll concede that the Democrats are not any better, but alas, they're both the same entity. Ask yourself this before you listen to Glenn Beck or another right-winged pundit: Why hasn't been there no proposed bills to regulate Wall Street, securities, or the upper tax bracket? Yet we bail them out and now we have to tighten our belts thereby eliminating crucial social programs such as education, Medicare, and now unemployment benefits. WAKE THE FUCK UP, AMERICA!
Lets face it...most unemployed are victims of either the downturn or the allowance of our society to export US manufacturing jobs overseas.
ReplyDeleteTrashing those DISplaced is MISplaced blame. You arrogant FUCKS! I only hope you get dumped and get hungry too.
PS. The problem with unemployment benefits is that completely EXCLUDES the issue that a skill laid off is not a skill to be rehired.
ReplyDeleteSadly unemployment doesn't account for the need to retrain to ANOTHER career. Hence, people can't retrain without lying to the unemployment people...and if they follow the rules, they won't get a job that no longer exists.
Not such a good safetynet, is it?
Find another job, even if it's flipping burgers and stop freeloading off those that DO have a job... even if they're flipping burgers.
ReplyDeleteHow long should we pay people to do nothing?
