TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! THE P&L DISTRICT PROVES EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR A KANSAS CITY MAN AND HIS WIFE!!!

Here's a TKC FACT I'm reporting simply to protect people from an illusion of safety downtown:
KANSAS CITY PARTY-GOERS ARE QUICKLY DISCOVERING THAT THE POWER & LIGHT DISTRICT CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!
Take a look at at TKC reader after a BRUTAL altercation in the P&L District:

Here's what I know, the guy's name is David and during the couple of times I've met him I can attest that he's not a boisterous club-hopper or somebody who would start trouble for no reason. In fact, nearly every time I've seen him he has been babysitting his daughter at a community event.

I'm posting his story because he sent it my way and I think he wants me to share this tale and the images in order for people to understand that violence in the P&L District is something that has very real consequences for innocent people.
Remember: KANSAS CITY IS PAYING FOR THIS P&L PARTY SO THE LEAST WE CAN DO IS MAKE IT SAFE!!!
Yep, there are some racial overtones in this tale but it's not about race . . . It's about finally dealing with the question of security without excluding anyone.
Still, David's story speaks much more strongly than my words.
Check it:
Tony,
My wife and I were attacked without warning Saturday night by 7 hoodlums at Power and Light. I was sucker punched from the side of the face which is what messed up my right cheek pretty bad. As I fell back a little bit the leader of the gang frog hopped and punched my wife in the mouth calling her a "white bitch". I charged him to protect my wife and my life. Four guys grabbed my arms while the main guy punched my face and 2 women scratched it.
I won't say what I did to the 5 guys from then in case they have any injuries or want to come forward and claim they do. I did what I had to do in such a dangerous situation I did not ask to be in or even had warning of what was coming. We're really lucky they didn't have any weapons since security (now done by NPB) doesn't search anyone. The problem is most good citizens don't break the rules thinking they will be safe in the Power & Light District. I'll never return to P & L, but we also won't go out unarmed ever again.
The guy who hit my wife went to jail. We'll see how that goes in a few months. The other 4 guys scattered like roaches. The 2 women got away scott free, but that wasn't really the fault of the KCMO police. We were in such shock we actually failed to mention the involvement of the 2 women at all. All the eye witness reports apparently matched ours, so I'm guessing no one else thought to mention the women either. I do remember seeing them scratching me though. I have scratches on my head all the way around that the hospital asked if came from fingernails or a bottle.
Really glad we weren't drunk and I was able to put up a good fight despite the look of the pictures. I don't think it went the way these dirt bags were used to it going. If they want to try it again, they won't live through it. My wife's mouth is so swollen she hasn't eaten anything but popsicles since Saturday.
Thanks for all your reporting,
David

The guys who beat him up are victims. They probably didn't have midnight basketball or anything else to occupy their time, so naturally they had to go assault someone at P&L.
ReplyDeleteI love this:
ReplyDelete"there's some racial overtones in this tale..."
SOME??
You kill me.
Then there's this:
"...but it's not about race..."
Right. Maybe to YOU it's not about race but I think this guy, the victim and his wife and to plenty of readers it just might be. We'll see.
white guy hits black woman in mouth after calling her a black bitch.....racial? So whats the difference here? Of course it's racially motivated.
ReplyDeleteHow were they dressed? Shirt slacks and embroidered gang logos?
ReplyDeleteWhatever, don't let em in the Army, where they'd do that in Afganistan and shoot trophy pictures for Das Speigel to embarrass us with.
Maybe I need to take back my comment yesterday about KC being overpoliced. I'll think about it.
Ya know on the few times this happens on the plaza, they have always gone to great lengths to see that muggings aren't turned into police reports. Very bad for business.
Sounds like we have our own version of Clockwork Orange roaming city streets. What shall we have the cops do? IF they bust heads, ya know we'll bust THEM if its caught on tape. Time for public dialogue on the matter.
Do we have concealed carry in Motown?
"racial overtones in this tale but it's not about race"
ReplyDeleteOh really?
Guess we'll just assume the attackers where either black or hispanic since that detail has been left out here.
There should have been five dead niggers but no, that would have been racial in overtones....Fucking stupid niggers..
ReplyDeletetypical NIGGER behavior...that's why we call them NIGGERS!
ReplyDeleteKansas City is rapidly turning into a southern version of Detroit, AND for the same reason. Niggers have plainly and simply destroyed yet another American city. See Atlanta, St. Louis, Cleveland, etc, etc. No, there's not an answer in sight either. None beyond genocide or shipping their asses back somewhere...anywhere but here. Oh yeah, don't forget to check Somalia..the nigger garden spot of Africa...
ReplyDeletedon't worry the kansas chitty police department is on it. soon to be a cold case file.
ReplyDeleteSo one guy gets beat up and it's a crime wave? You people are short bus material at best. But more likely to be group home material.
ReplyDeleteGuess what? Everywhere as crime. It happens -- in Liberty, in Lees Summit, in Paola, in Bonner Springs, in Buckner, etc...
Yeah, it happens -- Anywhere there is an abundance (more than one) of niggers. Check the numbers. They don't lie and distort the facts.
ReplyDeleteKansas City a safe haven to crime and violence.
ReplyDelete10:20 read the number kcmo is 9th most dangerous place to live.
ReplyDelete10:29 AM
ReplyDeleteNo one gives a shit.
Why do I keep putting off getting my concealed carry. This is the tipping point.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I've been gone for a few weeks, what's going on in here? More of Tony ignoring the racist urban core while saying this isn't the norm as the same story plays out week after week. Still wondering why people with disposable income flee to the burbs?
ReplyDeleteYup, sounds like I didn't miss anything at all
And bianchii, I have a new English word for you, "spam" google it, then look at your post for an example of it in use
Yep, there's some racial overtones in this tale but it's not about race... if this were a hispanic beaten by white guys and girls while being called a spic, you would throw a hissy fit.. you hypocritical fairy.
ReplyDeleteT, Thanks for posting this, even though you are wrong about it "not having racial overtones".
ReplyDeleteThe only time you say that is when its minority on white crime.
They couldn't have been black guys.
ReplyDeletenever depend upon the cops.
ReplyDeleteconcealed carry is the way to go.
it always surprises, frustrates and disappoints me when i see or hear some white, racist dumbshit still use the term "nigger"
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I moved here from New Mexico we've been here about 2 years and decided to leave. Kansas City has far too much crime for such a small city.
ReplyDeleteda'man is a pussy...a nigger luvin pussy at that!
ReplyDeleteniggas call each other nigga and nigga is just a variation of nigger. why yo mad thou????
ReplyDeleteSo where did this attack allegedly take place? In a particular bar or club? Under the canopy? Out on a sidewalk? In a street? In a parking garage? At Chipotle? At the AMC?
ReplyDeleteYou'd think a story with a warning like this would at least mention where this happened, let alone what led up to it.
The cops can't help you. It's a jungle on the streets of kc.
ReplyDeletecops are not good for much except taking a report and filing it away.
This why I pack my CCW and my M1911 .45 acp everyday when I go to work in KC.
ReplyDeleteA gang of 5 guys, 2 girls beats up on a couple for no reason at all? I'm calling bullshit. That guy did SOMETHING.
ReplyDeletethis is why it should be legal to own a tank and drive it around town.
ReplyDeleteI never go downtown Kansas City P&L for any reason, my wife and I went there once, after that we never went back, and our glad we don't go there.
ReplyDeleteMan, look at that's guy's face. Whoa!
ReplyDeleteThey really beat him up. They won't get caught and if they do they'll be out in 48 hrs. Downtown KC is not safe.
Lots of tough talk in the story and the comments.
ReplyDelete"I won't say what I did to the 5 guys from then in case they have any injuries or want to come forward and claim they do."
What, cry on them? Call them names? What's the point of this story?
Where's the police report? I'm skeptical of this. Here's an idea -- don't leave the house if you're so scared of the world.
And all the tough guy talk about CCW -- please. You can't roll into a bar with a gun.
Okay this is an opportunity for top notch investigative reporters - - journalists to get busy if there ever was one.
ReplyDeleteGet another hobby Vanessa.

ReplyDelete"And all the tough guy talk about CCW -- please. You can't roll into a bar with a gun."
Exactly. Besides, the easy part is carrying the gun. The hard part is getting to the gun before the thugs get to you! Especially five of them. Unless you believe you may shoot them as they're running from the attack-which I assure you that you may not! CCW's are a good idea-but not a fuul proof deterrant.
Why is this an obscure blog post when it affects everyone and needs to be public?
ReplyDelete12:52, Amen. This story is woefully incomplete though completely one-sided. Allow me to join you in the BS call.
ReplyDelete1:17, exactly but this is also why CCW isn't even a good idea. Not only do the "thugs" get a free beatdown, they get a free gun, too.
And even if you could get your gun, bullets flying from the guns of scared people does not make for a safer P&L.
If you're married, you should have more common sense than to go to P&L at night. It's a flesh fest soaked in PBR and testosterone. Go some place with a little more maturity in the air, dude. Still, it was wrong what happened to you both. And it's obvious they were coons out toppling trash cans.

ReplyDeleteYou're on your own in this town. Don't expect any help if you get caught in the same situation as David. This town is not safe, either in Westport or the P&L District.

ReplyDeleteIf the e-tax is repealed, this type of situation will become more common, I fear.
ReplyDeleteI HIGHLY doubt these guys were beat up for NO reason. Sorry if they were but that sounds like a bold face lie. I call bull shit!
ReplyDeleteThis problem has existed for years with or without the e-tax.
ReplyDeleteThis kind of crap happens all the time and everywhere in kcmo. Unless they are caught red handed there are no consequences. The police wont/can't apprehend them and the prosecutor won't prosecute. There's a reason Kc is always ranked in the top 10 for crime. The city is very inviting for thugs.
ReplyDeleteAnd everyone wants to know why people and business is leaving Kansas City. Downtown Kansas City is a hell hole.
ReplyDeletethe first thing i did after leaving P&L on St Patricks Day was check in here to see if Tony was reporting on all of the fights that were happening there. call me naive but i did not expect for there to be fight after fight after fight, men on men, women on women, men on women, women on men. it was disgusting. i saw 2 uniformed KCPD and 4 uniformed security guards amongst the thousands of people. there was no way they could even get to the fights. i will never go there again... far too dangerous. what is wrong with people!
ReplyDelete@2:22, why would it be more common because people east of Troost can't get their roads repaired?
ReplyDeleteI still think the local burbs should have a KCMO tax, if you live in KCMO you need to pay a tax if you work, shop or even drive down the street of any burb in this area.
I would call it the "KCMO Poluttion Tax." KCMO residents have been poluting this city with their filth for far too long.
If you work lets say in Lee's Summit, shop there or hell even drive on their roads you're poluting the area you need to pay for your polution.
Not our fault your fucking city doesn't have shit...but crime...
P&L is Fist Fight city, and
ReplyDeleteKansas City is the Murder Factory
In the last two weeks I know of two separate incidents where single men got mugged in Westport walking to their cars. The thugs hang out in any area where they think they can find people who might be drunk and what they think may be an easy mark.
ReplyDeleteNO RACIAL OVERTONES?? That is what kills me about f*cking Kansas City Media!! Every time something like this happens, they are afraid of putting out a description of the suspects because they are black! Tell it like it is! I am SO sick and tired of watching how white people are afraid of simply stating the FACTS! Why is crime rampant in this city?? Because it is "taboo" of white people to stand up and fight to keep these people out of entertainment venues that paying customers want to enjoy! Why is it that black people can stand up and have marches and hold signs in their neighborhoods to keep criminal thugs out, but if a white person was to do this it would be racist?? AHHH! ok...I'm done. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm sure the couple "did something." Probably had the nerve to make eye contact. Thugs are thugs. Teen thugs with issues of "respect" are even more dangerous.
ReplyDeleteI learned a long time ago that the epithet 'nigger' really has nothing to do with skin color. If you've lived long enough, in enough places, you've met your share of white, black, brown, yellow, red, etc. 'niggers'. The people on here who throw the word around are likely the white version- blaming someone else for what's wrong, settling for a simple explanation that their small minds can accept. Crime and violence are not a product of skin color. They result from rotten cultural conditions- whether it's an urban 'hood or a trailer park. Criminals are criminals.
It's simple. Niggers ruin everything they touch. First Bannister Mall, then Westport, then the Power and Light District and NEXT....YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
ReplyDeleteThat kind of racist talk only proves Tony right. Stop it.
ReplyDeleteAs a long time, full time CCW participant, the most important lesson that I've learned is to avoid situations in which I might have to use my weapon. It goes with me everywhere but the airport and the courthouse but it doesn't embolden me to do things or go places that I wouldn't without it.
ReplyDeleteGo to P&L or Westport if you want to get robed.
ReplyDelete"it always surprises, frustrates and disappoints me when i see or hear some white, racist dumbshit still use the term "nigger"". It never surprises me but always frustrates and disappoints me when I hear about a gang of blacks attacking white people for no reason what so ever and other blacks racists stick up for them. These thugs... these savages prove day after day why white people want to live in black free neighborhoods. Life is short, why should be put our lives in jeopardy for the sake of diversity. F#$k diversity... I want to live a long safe life. P.S. that's why I have my conceal carry... and I would encourage every law abiding citizen, black, white, hispanic, asian to do the same thing. These thugs... these savages have no business living in a civilized society. There is nothing civil about these scum.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting David's story.
Fuck diversity! Even blacks hate niggers!!! Let them go live with Radiofag.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to get out of all this your best option is to leave Kansas City. There are a lot of other nice places to live with a lot less crime.
ReplyDeleteTony Bordello, congratulations on your little "is KC racist" experiment! I read this posting carefully and NOWHERE do you or "David" mention the race of the attackers. In your preface to David's report, you plant the seed for the racist reader's bias to emerge with the phrases "racial overtones" and "it's not about race." Lo and behold, nearly all those commenting jumped to the conclusion that the attackers MUST have been Black/African-American.
ReplyDeleteTony Bordello you're a tricky one!
Someone call the crumb fighter Agonzo Washington!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust wait till they invade the westside and are in your face Tony. Eventually they will run out of other places to ruin and it will be your turn. Just for curiosities sake will that constitute a racial thing or just people of color having fun as usual.
ReplyDeleteTony, thank you for posting my story and for the courtesy of shielding my name for my protection. You didn't have to, but it was considerate.
ReplyDeleteBelow I will respond to some of the comments I read above. Glad to see people paid attention even if they chose to be skeptical, which is fine.
I cannot say I didn't have some perhaps ignorant words and thoughts immediately after this incident. I was hurt, angry, concerned for my wife who was punched right in front of me for ABSOLUTELY no reason, and so sick of this sort of violence I have seen many times amongst people of all cultures, but sadly, primarily in one.
ReplyDeleteI've had time to digest though and remember that it had nothing to do with skin tone. Hence why I did not mention skin tone.
After this incident many wonderful people of all colors and ages have been very kind in asking what happened and intently listening and then offering emotional support in various ways.
The attack was in the open air court inside power and light in front of a bar I have always liked. I fail to see the point or need for such detail, but I guess different things interest different people. If you're seriously suggesting I made this up, please refer back to the pictures.
ReplyDeleteSeveral people have asked me about the color of their clothing. They all wore gray and black. I don't know of any significance to that. I tried to not go into crazy detail because the one they took to jail and possibly friends he turns in still need to see justice and a fair trial. I don't want this dirtbag getting off on a technicality.
Yes, they were all black. That said, I feel a lot safer at America's Pub now and that is a primarily black club with an extremely attentive security staff. I have many black friends there who would give their lives to protect mine. Some of them would perhaps throw me in front of a bus to save themselves I imagine as well, but when I think about it I figure you'll find that anywhere.
I was not given a police report, but if Tony would like me to show him our court summons to satisy those wanting a 2nd testimony that it is real, I would be happy to show him personally. I am not going to allow his name to be posted if I can help it leaving him an out come court time. I want him to see justice so I don't feel the urge to get some myself. Remember the man did more than hit me a few times. He hit my wife. The only words that had come out of her mouth were "stop, stop" right after she saw him run up from the side and punch me. That people would look for any reason to blame the victims still in this day and age is shocking to me. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Catch up with reality please. We did nothing to bring on this attack and until I was blindsided I had no idea any unusual danger even existed for us there.
ReplyDeleteWe chose to obey the rules and laws and went in unarmed (never again). That said, the attack was so unexpected, so hard, and so fast that were I carrying a weapon there was no way for me to pull it out and use it unless I wanted to take several more blows to the head from every direction.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this attack was about race, attempted robbery, hatred, mistaken identity, a misunderstanding I was unaware of, or anything else. We had seen some of their crew arguing with a bartender for a while and at one point asked to "please get by" one of the gals. None of that though could or should have reasonably ended in what happened shortly thereafter. We had seen that same gal a few times earlier throughout the night acting a little weird, but said nothing to her and never touched her in any way. My guess is we were maybe actually being cased out now that I think of it.
As for the snobby suggestion that we should have gone to some boring, over priced, stuff event instead on our one night out together for fun a month or else we aren't mature, that's pretty lame to me. Different tastes for different people. I used to be Mormon. I've done about as much good clean dullness as I can handle.
ReplyDeleteFear mongering that phasing out the earnings tax which I pay will result in no police? You can't be serious. Even were you serious, you're saying I may have had to continue pounding on my attacker rather than the police arresting him right after I finally got the upper hand and would have known for sure I got justice instead of sitting through a year of continuances sure to come in hopes that he may get justice even if that justice means a weight bench, free rent, free meals, and free cable. I felt P & L was much safer than it actually is and I want people to start hearing about cases like mine which don't seem to end up in the news unless they happen in Westport which I will not pretend is safe. Plenty of unreasonably violent people there of all stripes and gun shots are very common.
ReplyDeleteSeveral co-workers of mine told me the last few days of similar incidences happening to their loved ones at Power & Light. Most of them less brutal, but ending in robbery. I chose to fight back. That may have come with a few more punches to my face, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The bastard who hit my wife took some solid damage himself and went to jail if not the hospital. My wife and I have hundreds of black friends, co-workers, and even some family. Most if not all of them were as disgusted by what happened as anyone else. They know we are nice people. A little reserved, but always friendly. We are moderate social drinkers, but never obnoxious, loud, or confrontational over it. I'd had 1 Stella Artois(sp?) an hour before this incident and my wife a cranberry vodka. We had a little more hours before that. This attack was in no way waranted and we had ZERO warning that it was coming.
ReplyDeleteWell Dave, better stick to warm milk and reruns from now on if the big bad city is scaring you.
ReplyDeleteSays the person afraid to post as anything other than anonymous...

ReplyDeleteI see you're spending the night in.
I'm sorry to see this. I have more friends than I can count who have been victims of similar violence in this city. The notion that the vitims did something to bring this on is ridiculous. Every single person I know who has been held up at gun point, pistol whipped, car jacked, etc., never saw it coming and never had a chance to defend themselves, even if they had been carrying a weapon. This is very sad and I'm sorry for David and his wife.
ReplyDeleteDavid, I'm sorry that this happened to you & your wife.
ReplyDeleteWhere I live, there are almost no people of color, & all of these things happen here, too. So, I know that its not about race. It's about anger. There is a large 'lumpin' underclass in our society that feels that they have been passed by, as it were. In your city, most of these people are black. Where I live they are white. It doesn't matter if you think their feelings are unwarranted. They feel the way they do, & they act on those feelings.
I work at a bar in P&L and these assaults happen there all of the time and sometimes worse. Weekend night after weekend night people are taken out of there in ambulances due to being assaulted. The security office recently even got rid of their carpet floors for tile due to the fact that there were so many blood stains on it from assault victims. Fact of the matter is that P&L is not safe. I've worked there since it opened and to be honest, the tips are the only thing that keeps me there. I have seen first hand since the dress code was dropped that the amount of "thugs" has increased ten fold. Whites, blacks, hispanics, asians, etc., the place is full of criminals now and if you stick around long enough on a weekend night, you'll see groups throwing up gang signs at eachother, fighting, etc. Its only a matter of time before these groups cross paths with the wrong ppl and other patrons get caught in the middle. I tell all of my friends and family not to go to P&L cause of the safety issues. The security down there changed around new years and a new company was hired, not NPB. The uniformed security used to have the place on lockdown but the new company for lack of a better word sucks. The KCPD officers that cordish hires do good work down there given that they are typically outnumbered and have about 4 officers on a weekend night for thousands of ppl. Regardless of what ppl say, you can't prevent things like this from happening, except to increase awareness of the issue. P&L is not safe and I hope stories like this become more prevalent in the news to show that it is the new westport.
ReplyDeleteP&L is not safe, that's why I never go downtown ... the Kansas City downtown is dangerous.
ReplyDeleteFear mongering that phasing out the earnings tax will result in no police?
ReplyDeleteThere are THOUSANDS of large cities with NO earnings tax and they all have huge Police Departments. New York, LA. Boston, Miami .... No Earnings Tax and they have BETTER Police Departments.
Bet those cities with no etax have higher property and other taxes.
ReplyDeleteThis is such bullshit. People who love to complain will bash anything. P&L is fine. I go there about once a month and there's never an issue. I have never seen an ambulance down there yet.
ReplyDeleteYou have never seen an ambulance? There were atleast five ambulance calls on Saturday night alone down there. I work across 13th St. from P&L and there is atleast one ambulance call an hour on weekend nights, between really intoxicated ppl that can't walk and assault victims.
ReplyDeleteDavid, I'm sorry that you and your wife were assaulted. The repeal of the e-tax will result in much higher property and sales taxes. There is no easy way to replace 200 million dollars in revenue each year. For all those who say "fix government waste", even if there is some and it is "cleaned up", those cost saving are non-recurring. Ultimately city services will be cut, which means fire, police, roads, water etc.
ReplyDeleteP&L is going to go from bad to worse, and quickly. The future subsidies that KCMO will have to kick in to cover the lack of P&L revenue will be shocking.
This is a perfect example of why there should be no such thing as a "hate crime".
ReplyDeleteThere will always be people who will never acknowledge under any circumstances that minorities are capable of engaging in racist behavior. Ergo, victims of thugs of certain races will never ever truly enjoy equal protection under this law. Get rid of it all together and be done with it.
We didn't need "hate crimes" legislation to try, sentence, imprison and execute Nazis so why do we need it to deal appropriately with thugs in our own country? The whole thing is a crock.
I agree with the last comment. I disagree with the one before it but appreciate the kind manner it was approached in. I was on KCTV5 today but they apparently had to edit out most of the facts to leave plenty of time for protecting the reputation of P & L. I'm glad they at least covered it and the reporter and camera man were very nice.
ReplyDelete
