TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! MEDIOCRE KANSAS CITY VOTER TURNOUT DISAPPOINTS!!!

Kansas City doesn't care enough to vote.

During this election the only thing Kansas City really cared about was that the candidates were nice to each other and so eerily similar.

A great many people have noted that mainstream media doesn't like noting consistently disappointing voter turnout in Kansas City because they feel like it only contributes to the problem.

I wouldn't dare be so presumptuous.

To wit . . .

TODAY'S KANSAS CITY VOTER TURNOUT SUCKS JUST LIKE IT ALWAYS DOES AND DESPITE THE NICE WEATHER!!!

There's a rumor of increased turnout that is carefully worded and well-meaning but ultimately too optimistic.

Chris Moreno tweets: At Mid-Day Eastside is trending 17% to 20% at major polls.

Remember that Chris Moreno is doing important work on the Eastside as a political consultant in one of Kansas City's most disenfranchised parts of town.

Notice the careful wording, Chris Moreno is a thoughtful political strategist. Look closely: At "MAJOR" polls during the busiest morning and lunch hours there is a "TREND" toward a pathetically low number.

By the way, Chris Moreno is in good company. Just about every campaign in Kansas City along with all of the consultants are simply BEGGING people to vote.

The public isn't responding.

An AWESOME TKC TIPSTER is more blunt off the record:

"Horrible voter turnout up North. 5-7%. Been to 4 polling places."

TKC FACT:

THE VAST MAJORITY OF REGISTERED VOTERS DON'T CARE ABOUT THIS ELECTION AND EVEN AT 20% IT'S CLEAR THAT DEMOCRACY HAS FAILED IN KANSAS CITY!!!

There really aren't any winners in this one . . . Low voter turnout doesn't necessarily favor either candidate if it's Citywide. In the primary, it's a fact that the Eastside didn't turn out to vote for Sly James. Northland staying home doesn't change Mike Burke's standing in that area one bit. The polls that aren't "MAJOR" on the wrong other side of Troost and all around Kansas City are dead. The lunch crowds at posh Midtown restaurants host FAR MORE people than local voting places.

Nobody cared about this Kansas City election.

There are still a few more hours to prove me wrong. But anything less than 30% turnout among the tiny subculture of registered Kansas City voters simply confirms the standing TKC Thesis and lunch time thought: Kansas City cares more about BBQ than Democracy.

DEVELOPING . . .

  1. If KC doesn't care then why should we?

  2. Yup, crickets at my south KC polling place--quieter than the primary.

I have to wonder that the steam came out of this election a bit when Funkhouser didn't make the cut after the primary. Imagine what a Funk vs. James or Burke campaign would have been like...

  3. I went to vote and outside a group of men were blocking the sidewalk shoving pamphlets and fliers for different candidates at the people trying to get in to vote. That's the main reason I hesitate to vote because of that behavior. And they are aggressive.

When I put my ballot in the scanner it was counted as number 200-something.

This was sort of a "why bother" vote, but I did it because it is my civic duty.

  4. I don't mind low turnout. A 20% turnout means my vote counts for 5 people who don't give a shit and who'll be stuck with my choices.

  5. Who cares?
Kansas City a sorry azz place to live.

  6. 2:45: Any fish hooks keeping you here?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I do it politely, but firmly.

I tell the electioneers to stuff it.

They used to be very aggressive at my polling place, but they have backed off considerably over the past couple years.

  8. Does this mean Tony wrote five political posts for each valid voter?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I bet Tony isn't even a registered voter.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I don't understand. Tony's "new school council candidates" have been everywhere across the city all the time for months empowering voters and bringing new groups to the polls. How can there be low turnout with Tracy Ward and Brandon Ellington on the ballot? Shouldn't Henry Klein's endorsement have rallied thousands to the polls for Mike Burke? What about Jason/Diana Kander and Jolie Justus' push for Sly; shouldn't that have encouraged every man and woman in midtown to get out and vote today?

Guess what: all of these little people trying to make an impact was bullshit. Money always wins and people love to complain more than they like to act. Kansas City will be fine under the new mayor and a council that looks a lot like the current one. Get over it.

  11. I went to vote and just walk right in no line there more people manning the polls than voters.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I voted north (by KCI) at 8:30 this morning and the voter turnout was already more than half of what it was for the primary for the entire day - while not huge numbers it is still contrary to what has been stated here.

  14. Chris Moreno has never been known to lie

    ReplyDelete
  16. haha.

Moreno was spinning. But the polls don't lie.

We won't see 20% or anything close. Good for calling it out. This election was a snooze fest.

Kansas City will not be just fine. The city's tax paying citizens are fleeing to the suburbs while being replaced by illegals, criminals and welfare recipients. Fact is, of the more than 340 neighborhoods in KCMO, very few, if any, are made up of a solid, citizen paying, tax base. And thats a statistic that doesn't need backing up. Just drive through town and take a look at the blight for yourself. Its a sad story that tells itself.

  18. Vote? Oh wuz that today? Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  19. How come my Iphone didn't tell me to vote today.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Might have something to do with most people have totally given up on the politicians.

It's more ethical and moral not to vote for these clowns and probably less damaging to society in the long run at this point.

  21. Tony should run so we can all be guaranteed a lifetime supply of Big Assed Breakfast Burritos.

  22. The Great Election of 2011 no one gives a shit about.

  23. Promoting and Preserving Failure in Kansas City finally coming to fruitation.

  24. mmmmmmm....breakfast burritos.

  25. City's starting to smell like a breakfast burrito. After it's been digested and expelled in gaseous form.

  29. As long as Funk is gone no one cares who takes his place.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Moreno hahhahahhahah. He lost more races than the Royals games.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Voter apathy should send a signal that the system is broken.

Let's face it, Missouri is a pay to play state. You back someone your pet issue will get attention. That is the long and short of it.

That is why so much development has occured with NO vision in this city. It is all about how city hall can make me money today.

Meanwhile the murder rate spirals. What an ugly city.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Chris Moreno will run this town and soon.

  33. Blow Me State

  34. Sounds like Will Roysters commenting again. Its getting disgusting in here!

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Roysters were insightful enough to see that Chris Moreno is so brilliant that most people fear being around him. The Roysters were strong enough to accept Moreno's brilliance.

    So just cry about it.

  36. If burke and his cronies win I'm off to the wonderful world of Oz. And I hate Kansas! Especially KU fans.

You know what is coming Ms. Tallman. Consider yourself politically doomed. Move.

  39. You mean tall-boy?

  40. Why does K.C. schedule the vote in March of 2011?

and there's the E-Tax vote next month.

Not one other city around here has any kind of voting going on.

I guess the city has so much money they get to have their votes one issue or office at a time. Seems to me they don't need any of that E-Tax cash.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh, Morono. Where do I start other than great job you fucko loser!!!!

SSB loses to a complete incompetent kid in a LANDSLIDE!

What a great campaign manager you must be. Bow down, Bitch!

Good thing she got Fletcher off the ballot.

    HAHAHAhaahahahhahahahhaha!
