NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE E-TAX FIGHT!!!

Kansas City's E-Tax battle is just getting started in much the same way that Rose McGowan isn't really entertaining until she begins to take off her clothes.

Anyhoo . . . Talk of hiding money and the outset of the campaign dominates local discussion of a tax beloved by so many but facing still facing challenges from sneaky adversaries, anti-tax detractors and simple voter fatigue.

  1. The pro e-tax crowd is right on. Thank God someone is fighting for our city.

  2. For you folks who pay zero etax now, get out and vote unless you want to start paying for trash service.

  3. I do, why shouldn't they. Besides, my trash service goes out of their way to take care of me. Nearly as I can tell, they're ALL good out here in the boonies.

And snow is removed fast and often. Make em a little hungry down there at city hall. They need to diet.

  4. You know that many of the people in the city would not be able to pay for trash services + the spike in other taxes. I feel like the choice would become either let your trash rot in the street or possibly be homeless. Without the e-tax I think that our city would be a mess, even with just the retributions that would happen immediately. Not even mentioning what would happen over time.

  6. Wow 7:44- great argument. Whatever. If the all the anti- etax people have to say short spouts of "Gt RID of the E-TAX," and, "The E-tax is TOAST," and lies I don't have any faith that they will be able to persuade any voter. what a joke of a campaign.

  7. Johnson County Trolls trying to screw things up in KCMO in hopes that more businesses will move across the State Line.

  8. The campaign finance law was written, debated, and passed. What people describe as a "loophole" is really just "the law."

A family with kids gets an exemption for each child.

Put siding on your house in 2010 gets an energy tax credit.

Paying on a mortgage gets a deduction for interest (but rent an apartment and get no deduction.)

Loopholes? Nope, just "the law." Either change the law, or get over it.

  11. E tax hurts the City vote no. Why are all the millionaires suporting the E tax. Just say no

  12. How does the etax hurt the city? It will hurt the elderly and low income to eliminate it.

  13. Why would anyone in Johnson County waste any time at all "trying to screw up" KCMO, when the folks that are elected time after time do such a great job of that themselves?
And won't be any different this time; the insiders will still win and keep their places at the trough.
    Thanks for playing, suckers!

  14. If I owned Johnson County real estate I want the E-tax to stay.

  15. Vote "No, against the millionaires"? If you vote No on the e-tax you will only be voting against the lower income people who will suffer by paying all the increases in other taxes. --- Try again with another lie, you aren't fooling me.

  16. Ha! @10:38, at least we know who the millionares ARE that support the e-tax. I only know of a few actual names of humans that oppose the etax openly. But you're right, Rex Sinqufeild isn't a millionare. He's a b-b-b-billionare.

  17. The reason to vote for repeal is that city hall is bloated. The elderly and poor need not suffer.

First cut is for the firefighters. There are too many of them, being paid too much, to do not much of anything. The number of fires are way down from the past, yet headcount goes up. They do not need to show up for car wrecks or medical calls.

There is no other way for citizens to tame the Local 42 beast.
