MOVING THE KANSAS CITY DEAD TREE MEDIA: PITCH BUILDING FOR SALE!!!

Got this text from a rather well-informed TKC Reader:

"Did you see The Pitch Building For Sale?"

Not so long ago they wanted to share office space . . . They're gonna need to move out given that ad pages are still declining AND Downtown real estate at that location is simply too pricey for a small time paper under new management.

Additional Pitch tidbit . . . A rather AWESOME KANSAS CITY POWER COUPLE told TKC last night that the choice to sell the KC Alt. Weekly was really between handing it off to a small time group or simply shutting it down.

Where can The Pitch relocate and still be effective as an Alternative news source?

My only advice is to ask if their mothers have space in their basement.

Developing . . .

  1. Another KC Business bites the dust.
Downtown is dead anyway.... unless your a criminal or mugger.

  2. Gemma and Lucy all in the same evening. Nice job Tee.

  3. The new owners will centralize things like accounting, website and perhaps even sales at one location outside of Kansas City. They can pay the writers to work out of their homes since many writers do their best work after 5 pm. This has been done in many cities.

  4. This is why real news sources that base their information on facts will always be superior to blog pages like this that base their information on opinion, innuendo and "kick ass tipsters". The Pitch is not moving, the landlord is taking over one of the floors.

  5. Where did you run into Funk and Gloria, Tee?
Who could be a more awesome KC power couple?

  6. Lot's of lies and untruths floating around about The Pitch.

  7. Why would the pitch have shut down if they didn't sell, they were owned by Village Voice which is a pretty large company

  8. I work near the Pitch and know a bunch of people there. The sign on the building still says floor for rent, NOT for sale. The Pitch does not own the building. Trust me, they are not going anywhere.

  9. The truth is this: The third floor of The Pitch building has been leased to be used as costume storage and dressing rooms for the showgirls at Bazooka's. One of the bigger rooms will be turned into a dance studio for rehearsing some of the more elaborate production numbers. In other rooms: a tanning booth, gym, and hot tub.
