The Mahlon Davis Jr. Anti-E-Tax Treatise

The fight against the Kansas City E-Tax is taking a lot of forms . . .

Recently, we learned that Kansas City grassroots Council candidate Mahlon Davis Jr. was working to repeal the E-Tax with a series of community meetings and informational presentations.

The other night he called into Darla's Show and lamented the overall win of the Freedom ballot in the election and questioned overall Kansas City budget commitments in regard to the revenue the E-Tax would remove...

There's no denying the guy is working hard for this cause and represents an alternative political perspective in Kansas City's African-American community.

General Electric had "worldwide profits of $14.2 billion, and $5.1 billion of the total came from its operations in the United States." Their 2010 American tax bill? Zero. And actually, GE's tax bill was much better than zero when factoring in a tax benefit of $3.2 billion.

Maybe us all us tax paying morons should become "Corporations".

  2. He's only working against his own community by playing with the anti-etax people. The poorer communities are going to hurt the worst trying to make up the tax with property taxes and other fee's for services that they know they can't afford. Sounds like a traitor to me.

  4. Mahlon doesn't really care about his community, he just wants to prove to everyone that he is a Republican.

  7. It may be hard to believe, but Mahlon's posts get even fewer hits than TKC!
He needs to try to actually accomplish something and hope that he can develop some credibility with SOMEBODY!

  8. They have assembeled the most inept bunch of no nothings to argue against the E tax. This guys only reason for you voting NO is that he is getting paid to say VOTE NO. He needs to familiarize himself with the tax first so he can argue with the proponents. This vote has less and less of a chance to get beat with guys like him getting paid to say NO.

  17. Well, if he's as persuasive with voters on the E-Tax issue as he was with his council campaign, then the E-Tax will pass by a huge margin. Put Davis in the FAIL File.

  18. His own people will be the first to suffer when they get their first bill for trash collection. He is one dumbass.

  19. Maybe it's time for Kansas City to elect some REAL leaders? Taking more money from people and then sitting down and saying....there, I did it...we have a budget is a copt out. There is income to be made with this city. But the Mayor and city council need to get off their ass and figure it out, instead of just being handed a budget.
What is with a population that keeps voting in the same do nothings? Only one city council member didnt get their job back.
People like John Sharp are still sitting there. What has he done lately?
He got fired from MAST for being completely incompetant and driving it into bankruptcy and then spear headed the campaign to bring it into the city. A move that will cost 10's of millions to tax payers, despite his claim it would SAVE money. He is puppet of the unions. Why he still has a job...escapes me.
I think it's time that the "leaders" in this city did some actual work, and promoted this city, or else the voters will take their num-nums away

  20. Kansas City just needs to start thinking ahead and smarter. Get rid of the stupid e-tax, which is only promoting wasteful government and stifling small business growth. That's where you make up your lost revenue. Numerous small businesses have either moved out of Kansas City or set-up their businesses in the suburbs to avoid penalizing their employees with this rediculous tax. I just wish someone in Kansas City government would recognize the potential for small business growth and put an end to business as usual in city government. There continues to be a tremendous amount of waste, i.e. - municipal court judge salaries, employment of too many obese employees and those that smoke, lazy unionized employees, ect. Please understand that I don't mean to generalize that all city workers fall into these categories. I'm just suggesting that there are way too many that do. Wake up voters and send a message to your elected officials that enough is enough. Let's start filling in all of the open land between the developed areas of Kansas City and the ciy limits of the surrounding suburbs with new homes and businesses by setting up a positive economic environment and getting rid of this tax.
